Driver runs over motorcyles

George Carlin said it many years ago: "People in groups are dangerous."

I spend about as much time on two wheels as I do on four, and this video/story has been all over our motorcycle forums. It appears that these bikers are not unfamiliar to people around there as a bunch of brats who think they own the public roads and can use them for their playground. These mass-rides are nothing new. I haven't heard one comment yet in favor of the bikers. Also of note is that the driver of the SUV had his wife and 2-year-old child with him. How far would you go to defend your family??

That's easy! The second they pulled open the drive's door, I would have immediate fear for my life and my family's. With that in mind, I would have used the minimum, legal, appropriate level of force to protect myself and my family. In other words, I would have shot the SOB dead on the spot. Same thing with the guy crashing in the window with his helmet. It's the family, you see. Once you get mixed up in a wrestling match with a few of these guys over your window, etc. Then you are no longer available to protect the family. Any number of those idiots could be injuring or attempting to extract your loved ones from the car. Then what??? You're screwed!! You no longer control the situation. I don't go around advocating shooting anyone but for the most desperate times. In this case, your only chance to do your job as protector, is to keep control and that means repelling borders (keeping them OUT OF YOUR CAR... no matter what the cost). Just my $.02 worth.

That whole thing was CRAZY.

I don't know what I would have done in that situation, I did read in the local paper though the LR driver is not being charged with anything. Which is good, he did the right thing by trying to flee several times, even if it meant running over a few bikes and riders.

I would have done the same thing and maybe swerved a bit and knocked a few more out, family with me or not I know their type I deal with them a lot with the local Harley gang out here. I'll be damned if someone tries to act hard on a bike and tries to get into my vehicle.

Come to find out a few of them were off duty police officers. One witnessed them beating the suv driver and did nothing. They need to fire that guy asap. He took an oath to serve and protect.

They've ready named one officer who is involved but it sounds like it may be more than one. It's the NYPD though so it'll just be buried.
