Seat Movement Issues

Recommended Posts

My seat moves during turns. But it feels to me like the frame is solid. I think my seat cover shifts a little . I think it has to do with the warning system built into the seat.

Had it to the dealer twice and they tell me they can not find anything wrong.

Well, I'm beyond Happy to report that my drivers seat movement issue is now GONE!!! I didn't pick-up the paperwork when I got my truck, as the Service advisor was swamped and said he'd mail it to me. Once I get it, I'll post a copy of it, showing the TSB#. Rick

Did the clunk get fixed too?

Yes. The very LOUD, noticeable "metal-on-metal" sounding rear-end clunk has also been eliminated, I believe through a combination of asking the service manager to have the torque checked on my leaf spring u-bolts, in combination with a transfer case program update.

Your shifting seat appears to be "the warning system built in the seat". It annoys you to the point that you remain alert at all times.

my seat also moves i only notice it when braking i have an electric with heated seats i played around with it the other day and it seams the movement is from the front where the seat motor is and in the rear seat rails both have quite a bit of play id say about 3/16" of play rear and maybe 1/8 in the front of the seat. its very annoying when coming to a stop and you feel the seat fall back when stopped

Happy to report that I've gone about 3000 miles and my seat is still not moving after the tsb. :)

It looks like it does not take much to make a new Silverado/Sierra owner happy these days.

Let me clarify for you... Happy the tsb worked. Not happy I had to do it in the first place. Just trying to provide some hope for anyone dealing with this issue.

My seat shift has slowly began again. After being rock solid after fix in May, ten months later it is moving. Tried putting clamps back on without success. Was told that even off Warrentee now I have 12 months from fix to bring it back. Will wait another month and take it in.

I have a 2015 sierra with manual seats and I noticed a movement and clunk noise as well.usually slow speed turns and getting in and out of the truck. Only has 1573 miles on it.dealer said they couldn't duplicate so I went and drove it for them. Then when they heard it tried to minimize this issue and that in the service techs "opinion" it was just a noise and he doesn't feel it move.I hope they actually fix it but they seemed to act like didn't know what to do since the tsb was for 2014 models....

Hi Jennifer, My 2014 is doing the same thing with the seat movement.... Alos experiencing a noise froim the rear of the truck every morning when cool. Sounds like rapid bumping noise. Not sure if coming from the rear gears or is the locking differential. Dealer does not know what it is. They removed the drive shaft and lubed, but did not fix the noise. When the vehicle is driven and warm, there is no more noise. Thanks, Pete

My 2015 LTZ behaves just like this. Had the seat clip fix done a couple weeks ago... waiting to see if the issue appears again or not. I've probably lowered the seat my maybe half an inch at best. Mine too, has the rear noise issue in the cold. This happens mostly just when turning a corner from a standing stop, and seems to be coming from the left right part of the truck. I haven't complained to the dealer about this yet, as it often isn't cold enough on successive days down here in Florida. Too late this year. Will see if it re-appears next year when it's "cold"... under 45.

Just added this item to the list for dealer to service. I notice more with slow turns to the right off highway into parking lot. They said they have seen this before and will likely need a "bracket kit".

Just got it done, didn't notice in short drive home, have to dig up paperwork of what exactly they did. Was in/out in a day.
