Seat Movement Issues

Recommended Posts

projectsummit, any chance of taking a picture of the pieces of plastic and posting it? ironic that we are using the phrase "pieces of".

This says its for a cadillac, but it looks exactly the same as what I did.

If you look under the front of the seat you will see two big white plastic retainers around a black bar, that's what you need to grease.

I took my seat out of the truck, removed the screws holding the white plastic pieces on and then lubed everything up. Before doing this I could push down on the seat with my hand and it would creak really bad, now its silent.

My 15 Silverado cc had the seat movement issue. I did the hose clamp fix and all has been well until now. It's starting to move again after 2 months. What now?

make sure you also have the little white round clip that's shown in the Sandy blog I shared above.

Once upon a time, I had a 2014 GMC Sierra with this seat issue. Took it to the dealer/s many times and was always told either this was normal, or can’t find the problem. I’ve tried all the DIY fixes to no avail. I gave up on the truck and bought a new F-150 and have not looked back, and doubt I ever will. I was a loyal brand customer since 1988 and this experience destroyed that. However, my fight is not completely over, we own a 2015 Yukon Denali and like clockwork, the damn driver’s seat is starting to move just like the Sierra. Precision Engineering the commercial says, makes me want to puke every time it comes on!

Rant Over….

I had to PHYSICALLY walk into my local dealership to be able to talk to someone about the seat issue.

It takes me about a half hour to get home from work, and i played phone tag the other day with voice message recordings of service reps, hang ups, front desk girls etc, and was never able to speak to someone. Took almost my entire drive home...i was F-IN FURIOUS!!

Anyway, like i said above, had to actually walk in to dealership to talk to someone. I was told to bring the truck in and they could fix it in a day. Said they use "shims" to fix?? Also said his guy does them all the time and that hes getting real good at fixing the seat issues now(and laughed about it like it was something i should be glad about)

I Prob will also add the hose clamps too as a reinforcement...this seat moving is driving me insane...smh

Sorry, there are SO many pages in this thread now and I'm trying to schedule this with my dealer. I have the seat movement issue on my Sierra, can someone tell me the TSB number on the latest fix for this issue?? He was poking around on his computer for it and I'm trying to avoid having to stop in just to confirm the problem and get them to pre-order whatever it is they need in advance. Thanks in advance!

My dealer has ordered the parts to complete this repair on my truck next week. They are doing this under PI1376, which appears to be the latest TSB for this issue.

Well I had my seat repaired 3 times so far and I finally forgot about the movement until now. The other day I accelerated hard around a corner to get ahead of traffic and POW! goes my backrest. I have never heard such a thing in 30 years of driving.

This is definitely the worst interior I have ever owned and I can't wait to get rid of it! The Silverado is not what it use to be.

I have a 2015 slt crew cab....the seat started making that clicking noise around turns once in a while at about 1000 miles...now's its got about 2500 miles and its doing it constantly... It's so annoying and its to the point now I know what turns its going to do it while I'm driving before it even happens...its driving me crazy!
