Seat Movement Issues

Recommended Posts

This is what I found regarding the dealer fix and seems to be really recent: http://vitalysmobileautodiagnostics.com/archives/6522. Seems like the black piece will do the trick(similar to what others are doing with the hose clamps). It also looks like you can put this piece on without taking the whole seat apart as well. It seems like they are taking the seat apart just to add the grease under the white pivot blocks. The other part, the white round shim washer is already on my truck from the factory. So I might just add the black part as preventative maintenance.

I had this service performed to my loose seat and it worked! No movement for over 6 weeks now.

How long did it take to perform this and did the dealer have to order the parts or were they in stock?

I just called to make an appointment but had to leave a message for service mngr. Did you already have the hose clamps on and remove them or just leave it as is? Sorry ,I know its a lot of ?s but I'm really desperate to get this issue resolved once and for all and would like to beat the swarm of others.

Thanks in advance

The dealer had to order the parts and they took about 3 weeks to come in. I continued to drive my truck during this time. I never installed the hose clamps. After the parts came in the dealer had my truck for 4 days of which I do not know how long it took them to perform the seat fix because I got an oil change and tire rotation during this same visit. I suspect they had an issue balancing the tires because they put over 60 miles on my truck during the 4 days. I have had previous vibration problems so I guess they knew they had to get the balancing spot on after the rotation or I'd be back a third time for a vibration complaint. I was provided a loaner while they had my truck.

Inspect your seat and the area underneath before you drive off. The service tech who worked on mine had dirty hands and there was grease and dirt on the sides of my seat as well as the back flap underneath the rear pocket. And on the door jam between the front and back drivers side doors. There were also grease globs on the floor carpet underneath my seat.

Truck has been @ dealer for 5 weeks now for other issues. 1000k miles and I'm on 2nd seat. They have had the truck longer then I've owned it.

A plastic lawn chair from harborfreight would be an improvement.

That's funny, but true. I'm so FN mad I can barley be cordial. I have buyers remorse like I've never had in my 40 years. I'm completely embarrassed to admit I work QC for GM too.

... My intent here is to take this public and light a fire to see if I can get a servicing rep to respond. Until I do, I will keep dragging the company that puts food on my table through the mud. My intentions are genuine, they (we) need to get our $hit together. If I just didn't spend over 50k on a truck that's been at the dealer longer then I've owned it I wouldn't be so livid. Pardon my temper and ignorance.

when they put the "clips" on my seat two warranty trips ago, it appeared to take care of the problem but this last of many trips for warranty items the front seat adjuster was not working (raise the front of the seat) when I got the truck back my service advisor said they replaced the entire seat track? adjuster is working and no seat movement at all and I am a rather large person. I just wish they could fix some of the other nagging warranty items!!

I really want to get out of my QX56 and get back into a truck (had a Tundra limited Crewmax), but reading 20 or so pages of this thread, and other threads (vibration problems), really makes me question my idea of getting into a GM.

What a drag! I want to be excited about buying a new truck, not wonder what problem I'm going to end up with in my new $60,000.00 truck.

Is this issue on the 2500's too?

I love my Sierra man, so far the only issue I've had with the truck is the poor headlight performance. I'm only about 4000 miles in but haven't regretted the purchase or moving from a blue oval truck yet.

Made an appt for seat movement issues. My service guy didn't ask me much , almost like he knew about it. Got a rental and truck should be easy today. It's nice not having to explain yourself or look like a fool when trying to show them the issues.

I have a 2015 gmc terrain. It actually shift right and there is zero confusion in the transmission. Man , it's crazy how bad my sierras bucking back and forth is. I'm used to it I guess but huge difference. Ohh well

The seat is only one of many issues with the redesigned silverado, out of all the ones I have owned this is the worst one, I would not buy it again. As for the seat, I'm waiting for the new seat rail kit to come in so they can attempt to fix it for the 4th time. The interior flat out sucks in this truck, from the mylink stereo to the doors and the dash rattling, it's just poor engineering all around. Stay away!
