Seat Movement Issues

I had this exact fix completed on my seat 2 weeks ago and it's great now.. I'm very happy with this fix. At first they said it was for cadillacs only but still ordered the parts and installed them as listed above. As soon as I got in after the fix it felt like a new seat, much firmer and solid. 2 weeks and 2000km later it still feels great, I think they finally closed the door on this issue.. Now get your truck in too, you'll be happy you did...

Just called the number listed for GM and checked my VIN for recalls. The lady could find nothing associated with my car, she opened a case for me and took the campaign and recall number. Apparently the higher ups are suppose to look into it....worthless.

Mine started doing it last week. Shifts left and right on half my turns. Bring it up the next time I'm at the dealer.

So I was able to solve the seat movement issue as a few others with hose clamps. I bought 2 - 1" hose clamps, and 2 - 3/4" rubber clamps and slid the rubber off of those and onto the hose clamps. I butted them up against the inside of the two white clips on the front of the seat rail. As you can see below the clamp doesn't but up against the entire clip, just the white part protruding at the top. I kept trying to get it right against it, and didn't realize until I took the picture that the white part sticking out was what it mated up against.

 

 

 

Here are the parts that I pulled the rubber off of to go on the hose clamp:

So far so good and this seems to be a fix until GM comes out with a better one or if they don't, it will remain permanent. Hope this helps anyone who is having this issue!

Use this method, solves the issue. At least it did for me.

I just dropped my truck off at the dealer for the transfer case recall. Again I listed the seat movement issue with the service writer. I also listed a pressure sensor going bad on the right front wheel. It constantly is reading 27psi... When my tire gauge and house compressor shows it at 35. Something may get done this time, the service writer seemed very knowledgeable about the seat, the recall and the sensor.

My service dept. just performed the bulletin repair on my seat. Here's hoping that did the trick. I'll report back after a couple of days of driving.

I'm happy to report that I have had the fix installed for a couple of weeks now. The seat feels solid...no hint of movement so far.

Is this just an SLT issue? I've driven an SLE for a few weeks as a service loaner and never noticed movement in the seat. Come to think of it, the truck as a whole felt much more solid with no squeaks or rattles. I sometimes wish I just would have got cloth seats...

Update on my truck. The ticket is still open on the seat issue on my truck. The owner of the dealership told me they are researching what needs to be done to correct my issue. All of my other problems have been taken care of. Even the tire pressure sensor. Embarrassingly it appears I may have had a small leak in that tire.

I just got off the phone with my dealer and they said the seat is officially a brand new recall. They ordered parts for my seat two weeks ago and they are still waiting on the shims. He anticipated another 3 weeks for the shims to arrive. What a joke!

I think there are two different seat problems. One related to the seats moving/clicking side to side in turns (TSB, not a recall), and one related to bad welds in the seat (recall). Not the same issues.

 

My Denali has developed the seat clicking when turning. I'll mention it to my dealer when I get my next oil change and have the other recalls done.

My Denali has developed the seat clicking when turning. I'll mention it to my dealer when I get my next oil change and have the other recalls done.

He mentioned the shims are what will take so long because of the volume of shims they will need for the recall. When did the TSB come out?

I've had my seat shimmed twice. It wasn't repaired that way. I'm using the clamps until a fix is identified. I sent the TSB info to the service advisor for a follow up.
