Seat Movement Issues

Recommended Posts

Just got mine back today for the 3rd seat issue repair. As soon as I got it in the seat felt much more rigid and tight like it should. So far so good, I'll have to report back after putting some miles on it before I'll say it's 100% fixed but I'm liking how it feels so far.. Fingers crossed..., I'll report back soon....

Got the rocking seat a while back and but the clamps on. Made it feel more solid. Sent the truck to the dealership for the recall and asked them the put the permanent fix on it. They told me they didn't feel it moving. No kidding!

I asked them to put the fix from GM on it without my clamps. I like the dealership, they've treated me fairly but come on. We'll see what happens Monday.

I've got over 13k on my Sierra and I've had seat issues from the begining. Now it's just worse. At first, the local GMC dealer said it's normal -- they all do it. Next visit I had been feeling a side to side movement once in a while. They said they just put a clip in another customer's truck and they will order one for me. I am not sure what is going on with the seat. I know the plastic sides rub and squeek on the seat itself because it's too tight all the way around. It rubs on the the center console, too. I hopped in a 2015 Yukon in the showroom and it's the same design with the same issues I am having. The person in charge of those seats at GM should be in an unemployment line with the folks that let that bad ignition switch go in millions of GM vehicles. Poor design. Bet it won't be a problem in next year's models!

Adjusting my seat didn't have any noticeable affect. It moved at all the positions. I had a 2010 F150 Lariat that had a similar issue. Just not as bad.

I put the clamps on as noted in on this forum. Still pretty solid.

That sucks levi, you still dealing with Scott @ Hendrick? Same thing happened with my 2500HD, they could never replicate the brake squeak I was having, until the tech rode in the truck with me driving. They had my HC on Saturday for an oil change/tire rotation and 2 recall updates. I will say that they did try to make my 2500 right, they just couldn't ever get it to duplicate the problem.

Yep, Scott's been great to work with. I'm to meet with the tech tomorrow to review the seat concern.

Are these seat issues on the 60/40 bench or on the bucket seats?

I'm tall so I have my seat positioned in the full down position and I don't notice any movement but my driver's seat on my 60/40 makes a loud creaking noise every time I get in and out of the truck. This started happening at around 6,000 miles. Standing outside the truck, I can push down on the front left corner and replicate the noise. It's very annoying and sounds cheap.

You know if i here one more time " It's normal they all do it " i think im gonna scream!

If the door handles fall off after 200 miles on all gm products does that make it ok because they all do it? I love how the dealer standard answer is the same all over the country . Must have been a telaconfrence and all dealers were required to attend . Todays answer is "It's normal they all do it"

Ok rant over :D I feel much better.

I know how you feel. Its not only our trucks doing this. While "fixing" my seat I was given a 2014 LTZ Impala with a little over 200 miles. Same exact shifting, clunking seat problem. I think our only hope is to wait a year or so till GM changes these seats out and demand a warranty swap. This just does not seem to be a big concern of theirs. I have been dealing with this since July 2013 and on two different 2014 silverados. As a matter of fact I am going to call GM customer support again right now. Good luck.

Report Receipt Date: JUL 23, 2014
NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V446000

SUMMARY:

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Buick Encore and Cadillac ATS; 2014 Cadillac CTS, ELR, Chevrolet Caprice and SS vehicles; and 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Trucks. Due to an incomplete weld on the seat hook bracket assembly, the front seats in the affected vehicles may not stay secured in place during a high load condition such as a crash.

CONSEQUENCE:

A seat that does not stay secured increases the risk of occupant injury in a vehicle crash.

REMEDY:

GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the seat hook bracket assembly weld and replace the lower seat track, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in late August 2014. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-521-7300 (Buick), 1-800-458-8006 (Cadillac), 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), and 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 14340.

I had this exact fix completed on my seat 2 weeks ago and it's great now.. I'm very happy with this fix. At first they said it was for cadillacs only but still ordered the parts and installed them as listed above. As soon as I got in after the fix it felt like a new seat, much firmer and solid. 2 weeks and 2000km later it still feels great, I think they finally closed the door on this issue.. Now get your truck in too, you'll be happy you did...
