Seat Movement Issues

Recommended Posts

sorry but if my new truck was to develop or have the seat problem that was the result of poor engineering design, I'd be dammed if I'd put a hose clamp on it to fix it and would demand that GMC address the issue properly or otherwise sell the truck. a $40-50k truck should not have such petty problems.

Mine did the very same thing after 1000 miles. I read the posts on here and lowered the seat slightly. I had it set pretty high. This solved the movement. I brought it to the dealer anyway and they used the clips to fix it. They told me "we felt the movement and saw the bulletin but don't understand how these clips will help". Anyway I actually got used to my seat lower, so no more movement.

Can you tell me who your contact is at GM? I would love to demand that they fix it too.

Unfortunately, it looks like I too have the seat movement issue. I got the truck June 9th and have 2000 miles on her; build date 12/13. As others have noted, the movement is taking place at the white plastic "brackets". I just checked on the website: https://recalls.gm.com/#/ and a do not yet have the above recall. If the recall only addresses a poor weld issue I don't see how its going to fix my seats, since the issue is with the brackets as with many others on this thread. Its too bad my first post on this site has to be a negative one. Aside from several recalls and the seat issue I really love this truck and hope to have it for a very long time. I have not contacted the dealer yet as I am hoping to get more info on a fix from this site. I read this entire thread and do not see an definitive fix that can be completed by the dealer. I want them to fix it and fix it right.

You are correct no dealer fix yet. If you are like me you and your butt will get tired of it and you resort to the clamp fix. You will also be surprised how much your mental health improves once you stop anticipating the movement.

I just took a ride to the dealer and spoke to a service consultant, so much for waiting. He found a bulletin and has ordered the parts for the "fix". From this thread it doesn't seem to work, but its really starting to annoy me so I'm going to give it a shot. I also noticed that the front passenger bucket seat is not the same as the diver's side. Is that the case in everyone else's truck?

Here is the drivers side and in infamous "bracket" :

Why two different seats?

I began experiencing the same problem soon after I purchased my truck in March 2014. I dropped it off for service two weeks ago for 2 recalls. They were able to to take care of the recalls and ordered parts for the seat repair. I called yesterday and the parts still haven't arrived.

So while there are still a few minor problems I finally had my truck in for the seat movement/clicking problem. Dealer had my parts waiting and had the work done quickly. I gave it as good of a test as I could on my short ride home and it was great. The real test will be on my way to work on Monday but so far they did a great job. Here's a pic of the completed work order if it helps anyone.

I also got mine fixed today but don't see a difference in parts as I was led to believe. I was also told they had to drill 2 holes to correct it per GM which I don't see but so far so good no more movement.

Probably have to make new welds. I'll bet they sealed it all up when they were done.

I have had no fewer than four seat repairs done and still continue to have problems. Sorry to hijack, but I see on your work order you have radio reception listed. Can you please tell what was or wasn't done to fix? Also, nice Slayer quote.

They only checked the antenna and cleaned the connectors as I have been the only one to report the problem, they are going to look into it further. Next trip in I'll show them the last few pages of the radio reception issue thread. I have no worries that the reception and my back lit knobs being out will be corrected, they've done me well on my vehicles and I still have a plow to buy from they're truck division.

Ok, thanks. Also keep after them about fixing your backlit knobs. If you talk to the right person they will fix them. Just got mine done.
