Oil catch can?

Recommended Posts

You don't need the check valve.

Why not? What makes you think this? I paid for a catch can with a check valve, all I got was the catch can.

It does have a check valve. It's attached to the fitting coming off the cc.

And I don't think so. I can blow air through the tubing and the can without any restriction. And from my research, it looks like the videos put out by RX show them having a check valve in line with the hosing on the can.

Also, if you look at this picture, posted by Crf450r420 on page 25 of this thread, in post # 367, you can clearly see the check valve in-line with the screw type fitting on the right side of the can. Mine did not come with this part.

Yeah OK... Do the Other cans come with a check valve?? NO THEY do not... It's really for boosted motors and HIGH HP BUILDS that have a lot on crank case pressure and blow-by and I'm 100% positive your motor is not one of those builds. So no you don't need a $2.00 valve. This was confirmed by Tracy.

Youre missing the point. I bought something that said it was supposed to come with a valve. I didn't get the valve. I want my moneys worth. Yea it might cost $2.00. But its the principle.

And every video with Tracy I see installing a catch can has the valve on it....

Well I can only hope my order from RX comes with the check valve although on a side note the good news is I order it last Wednesday and it arrived Friday so it was pretty quick to me and I order it in summit white so will post once installed on Monday since PO is closed today.

I have yet to see any "stock" camaros running RX catch cans with check valves just for reference mine included

Ryan

Your right my friends 15' Stingray does not have one either. I might just experiment with my truck and take my check valve just to see why it's needed.

Just ordered my rx can. I see most of you mount the can on the brake booster. I was thinking about putting in near the extra battery spot. I see the concern with temperatures but will it really be that much of an issue? I've read through almost the entire thread. When it's negative out here I see running into the same issues whether it's mounted near the back or in front.

The cooler the can the better it will work as more of the evaporated water/oil will condense on the side of the can. I wanted to mount mine to the low side ac line to keep it cool, but it was to much work to get done in the time I had to do it.

I figured as much. But didn't know why people said the check valve wasn't necessary. It helps keep even more oil vapor out of the intake.

The check valve doesn't keep oil out of the intake it keeps back pressure from a turbo charger from going through the can in reverse and pressurizing your crankcase thus blowing out the oil seals in the crankcase. You don't technically need the check valve because you don't have a turbo but I agree, you paid for it and it should be in there as an extra layer of protection. I would call them up they should send it out to you free of charge. Just a minor over site.
