Oil catch can?

Both are pics on my 5.3L. I was making it much harder than it was. Very impressed with the can quality, for the price I better be. :) Installed at 2500 miles, for thanksgiving I am driving across Montana to the border and back, and will drain afterwords and report my findings. I did have quite a bit of residue already in my intake and build up on throttle body. The weather has already been below zero a few times this last week so I assume I will have some milky build up as the other pictures have shown. Curious if any of you guys running e85 if you see more or less build up? We don't have it here.

Also to answer the question above, there is no bank on passenger side at all.

I run E85 almost exclusively. I installed mine at about 3,500 miles. Not really build up but some discoloration.

Excellent post gone_fishing. That should easily answer any future questions.

I ordered my RX catch can tonight!! I can't wait to get it installed. Truck has about 10,100 miles on it so not too old although I suspect there is some buildup on the valves by now. I will get an induction cleaning service done next year sometime to take care of that.

Installed my RX last night. Ball valve on the bottom is high quality. Buy two 1/4-20 stainless bolts, since they provide steel. For the clean side separator, they provide a lot of parts you don't use. They didn't provide the 3/8 to 5/8 adapter or any 5/8 hose. Also need a cap for the valve cover, probably 5/8. The sticker is also upside down on it, but instead putting a loop the hose I'll probably run it backwards then U it forward once in the parts.

With 11,000 miles there was some oil puddles in the intake. No indication of oil on the clean sides.

Good to know that those are stickers so I can just peel them off.

And when you ordered the setup, did you call them or let them know it's for our trucks? I would think they would send you the proper size hoses and fittings.

I ordered online last night and just specified my truck/engine details in the notes area of the order form. It says on their website that if your exact vehicle isn't listed, pick something close to it (Chevy Tahoe is what I chose) and then put your specific information in the notes and they'll figure it out from there. From what I can tell, there aren't many catch cans to choose from, they just happen to fit a wide array of vehicles.

The routing of your hoses looks different than this 2014 Sierra:

What's the difference that I'm missing? Is one a 6.2L vs a 5.3L?

EDIT: Nevermind the first user comment under the video explains:

Thanks for the vid. I just installed mine on my 2014 Silverado. Note: This video appears to be for a 6.2L.

The 5.3L has the dirty side manifold port on the driver side of the manifold about half-way back. Also, the inside of the manifold is a straight tube about half-way inside. There isn't any way to see any puddling oil or get to it if you could see it. My truck has ~3k miles and the throttle body did look about as dirty.

Great kit and thanks!

I called him and talk to him cuz I wanted to talk about mounting it to the accumulator or something cold. He said its funny that you would say that cuz the cooler it is the better it works however they don't have a mount for that and I couldn't make this setup work for that so I just did what they do. All the stuff for the CAT scan is right plus a bunch of extra fittings are no need and useless plus mild steel bolts. The part for the clean side separator is where they fell short didn't get the little 580's extension or the adapter from the three eighths for five eighths not a huge deal but kind of silly that they have all those other parts and not needed ones. Look this was speech to text and tapatalk doesn't give you a whole lot of room to the review and edit so it is what it is.
