I'm sorry I didn't join the forum before I bought, or I would have negotiated for more discounts hearing that folks are getting 20% off on average.

I looked around for several weeks when I was ready to buy to find the truck that had the specific equipment I wanted.

When I built it on the Chevy website it came out to $49200, and the one I found matched the estimate pretty close at $49,135 sticker.

Ended up getting a white Silverado LTZ with standard bed, 2WD and sunroof for about $9k off with discounts, rebates and down pmt assistance.

That works out to only 18% off, if my math is right.

Looking around at local inventory I did see what seemed like higher discounts on LT models, but since I wanted a sunroof I could only find it on LTZ or High Country.

That's exactly what I found. Much better deals on the lower models - but they were not inclined to go as deep with heavily optioned LTZ's or Denali's. Just what I found over here anyway. I know we'll have this one for a while (our last one was 12 years old and had just 96k on it) I wanted all the bells and whistles!

i kept my last truck for 15 years and 200k miles and it was in excellent cosmetic shape at the end.

I'm hoping this truck lasts me as long.

I didn't want to go all those years regretting not getting it fitted with the options I wanted.

Hey folks, I have been scoping out 20% off Sierra SLT's deals here in the north east. Besides the 20% off, I know there are two rebates floating around ($1500 and $750). I have noticed on dealer websites that some of the 20% off deals also list both rebates in addition to the 20% off, making for a really sweet deal. But many (if not most) don't list the additional rebates, or some just list one of the rebates. Does anyone know the rhyme or reason to this? I might be going to look at one today (this particular one just lists the 20% off, no other rebates), and the availability of the rebates might make or break the deal. Anyone have any experience with getting (or not getting) the rebates on top of the 20%?

Also, on a related note…does the normal dealer negotiating headroom apply on the 20% deals, or is all their wiggle room pre-factored in to the 20% discount?

Thanks for any advice, and wish me luck!

(All of the following is my opinion based on my experience, so take it with a grain of salt.)

Keep in mind a lot of the website advertised deals are designed to get you in the door on their playing field.

I did all my negotiating over the phone as I did not want to waste time haggling in the showroom.

Look online for your dealers inventory and find one you like, then call the dealer and ask to speak to their internet or fleet rep and get the best price from them.

Let them know you are ready to buy and need to know the deal specifics before you come in.

The internet/fleet reps are incented on # units not a commission basis so they should be more straight up with you on all the numbers.

I negotiated with two dealers via phone and received their quotes with all applicable rebates before I ever went down to buy at the one I selected.

(I detest doing the sales person/sales manager haggle-dance in their showroom.)

An alternative is to use the AAA or Costco buyer process if you have access to that.

I posted somewhere in the last coue pages in this topic but. Wanted to let anyone know that is looking for a new truck about the deal I got and if you are SERIOUS about buying I will even PM you my deal. But if you read my post earlier from 2 days ago you will see that it might not matter. I have gotten a pretty good idea of how new car buying works at dealerships. Less than 2 months ago a big GM dealership here in Birmingham Alabama let me walk offering them $42k OTD for a 2014 model with just a leveling kit and spray in bed liner. And offering to sell me a new one OTD just like it for $46k. Friends of mine had just purchased from them at $46k without running boards and a soft bedcover, no spray in and no AC seats. Heated but not ACd. Keep in mind that all these I refer to are SLT models. Read my other post on August 23. I bought my SLT on Aug. 15th for $41,900 with all my add-ons I will list. The MSRP was $52-53k. I added a high $$$ bed cover w/caddy-$1500. I changed out the step bars from the floor board style to the round style. They charged me $200 to do that. I did everything to try to get the not to charge me that $200 but couldn't get out of it. They said they were already at the most bottom on the truck. Front 2 windows tinted-$80. Level kit-$300. They spray in bed liner was already on it. Electric back sliding glass. That's all I can think of right now. Except for the fact I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE TRUCK!!!

Tried buying a 2015 Silverado LTZ 2LZ 4x4 Crew cab short bed today. MSRP was $50,430 and the best offer I got with all rebates was $43,761. I would have closed the deal at $42,500, but we couldn't come to terms. I really want Brownstone Metallic and I know the deal can be made for the $42,500 towards the end of the year, but I am unsure if Brownstone will be available. I may keep trying with another dealer to see if the price can be agreed upon.

Being Labor Day is fast approaching I'm sure Chevy and GMC should have some killer deals. Any thoughts.

Kind of why I am holding out.

GMC was cutting a decent deal , but nothing to go out of the way for.

Meantime, I found an unadvertised Chevy unit that has everything on it that I would want, plus is tagged. Frame rails look new. Plus I am sitting on a $1500 Chevy Private Offer.

If I am buying anything in a Labor Day Sale, that'd be the one.

I got a dealer to offer a 2015 Crew Cab SLT White Diamond Tricoat. Nav, Trailer Brake, and Value Package for $39495 plus $399 documentation fee and taxes. Good deal or not?

I think I could talk them down even more. That price came with pretty much no effort on my part.
