Ended up buying a 2014 GMC Sierra SLT (Iridium Metallic) on 04/28/2014

- Crew Cab, Short Box, 4x4, 5.3L V8

- SLT Crew Cab Value Package (20' Chrome Rims with Side Assist Steps & Bose System)

- Preferred Package (Front & Rear Park Assist & Heated Steering Wheel)

- Navigation

MSRP Price: $49,995

GMS Price: $44,515.34

Trade-In: $7,000 (2009 Chevy Malibu LS w/ 109,000 miles)

Sales Tax: $2,626.07 (Indiana 7%)

Tire Tax: $1.25

Doc Fee $75

Rebates: $2,750

OTD Price: $37,467.66

The most I was getting for my trade anywhere else was $4,000. I guess this dealership wanted to make a sale by giving me almost double what anyone else would on my trade. It also probably helped that it was the end of the month. I think I got a fair deal. Not as good as some on here, but I'll take it. The truck is amazing. So far I have added Tinted front windows, BedRug and RollBak G2 Tonneau Cover. Couldn't be more happy with this truck.

When you order, do you end up paying more?

AFAIK when you order you will always lose any and all deals offered at that time and pay sticker price but when the truck arrives they will give you whatever deals are being offered at that time.

so something like a rebate or dealership clearance sale prices can change a lot depending on when the truck shows up on the lot

2014 Silverado1500

regular cab short bed

silver metalic

2wt (chrome bumper and grill package)

towing package

5.3L v8 with 3.08 gears

msrp was $30,770

and I paid $24,347

Hi guys, new member. Really appreciate this thread.

I'm shopping for my first new Silverado and started with the email route to put some feelers out there to dealers. I'm right in the center of MO, so Kansas City, St. Louis over in to IL are all equidistant from me pretty much, so they are all doable. I've already encountered "You won't get a better price. If you want a deal, you had better call me before Tuesday" BS. Some of them auto-reply with "Sometimes we don't get all your info electronically, so I'll call you to follow up." No you won't because I gave you 555-4444 as my phone number. I'm almost overwhelmed by the number of dealerships I need to cover. One dealer has my phone number which was given to him by a co-worker and he's already annoying me.

I'm looking for a:

2014 Silverado 1500 LT w/ 1LT and All Star Package

Crew Cab w/ short bed

4WD

5.3

Ideally in Silver or Tungsten

MSRP I'm seeing on these is in the $44-45k range. Without trying too hard, I'm getting prices around $38k with current rebates and incentives. Last month (a week ago) I got a couple emails saying around the $35k range. Of course this included incentives I likely don't qualify for and doesn't include their hidden closing fees.

My dad's last two trucks have been new LT Silverados and with All Star Package discount, incentives and $1500 GM points (which I will have as well) he usually does really well on price. His 2011 was MSRP $39k and he paid $30k and they shipped the truck from another dealership. Similar discount on his last truck before that. Always buys between September and December generally.

Based on that I'm really hoping I'd be able to get these $44k trucks down in to the lower $30s. I know it is going to be a balance of finding the truck in stock likely, watching incentives and hopefully working dealers off one another.

Any tips for me based on this info? Am I living in a Silverado pipe dream expecting to get that low? I'm really not in a huge hurry to buy, but it is definitely new truck time for me before long.

since all the 2014 trucks are filed with numerous defects recalls and service bulletins to redo just about everything on them I would run away from chevy of gmc until you see they have a fix for the worst defect of all, the dreded unrepairable vibration issue.

they will rebalance your tires two or three times to make it less noticeable then tell you all truck have noticeable drivetrain vibrations so it normal, they made the trucks to vibrate on purpose. most people end up with lawyers and have to sue GM to get a buy back.

some trucks don't have this problem but its pure luck if yours doesn't.

go read the 200 pages of horror stories of people getting screwed over by GM over the vibration issues ands read about all the other stuff too http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/forum/186-20142015-silverado-sierra-issues-troubleshooting-recallsservice-bulletins/

if you read all that and still want one they are offering $10,000-$12,000 or more off on the upper package 2014 trucks here so for what you are looking at you should get at least $10,000 off and they will give you a great deal because they know most of them will have issues and end up in the service dept within days of purchase and usually go unfixed with the standard claim "all trucks on the lot have this same issue so its normal and not a warranty issue so we aren't going to try to fix it anymore" after that you are SOL

all I can tell you is drive on a very smooth blacktop road with the radio off and tell salesman to shut up then drive from 35mph and slowly increase speeds. most people notice a wobble like sensation start there and get worst around 40mph then around 45mph it feels like it fades out only to return around 60mph but get worst at around 70mph. each truck is a little different so yours might be up or down one or two mph where its doing it but try several trucks. you may need to go through 8-10 trucks on the lot to find one that doesn't vibrate so forget finding a truck you like, first find a truck that doesn't vibrate, then decide if you like it enough to buy it.

I wish I had gotten this advice and found the info on this forum before I bought my lemon last week

I purchased a new 2014 GMC Sierra SLE Regular Cab Long Bed 4WD Z71 on Saturday, August 16th, 2014.

Total Discount: $7,000.00. Truck is Fire Red with Jet Black cloth seat trim and equipped as follows:

GVWR, 7000 lbs. (3175 kg)

3.42 rear axle ratio

5.3L EcoTec3 V8 engine

Preferred Package

Tires, 20" P275/55R20 all-terrain, blackwall

(all-terrain must be meant as a joke by GM – if you could see these tires they look like summer treads.)

20" ultra-bright machined aluminum wheels

6” Chrome rectangular, assist steps

Snow Plow Prep Package

Bed liner, drop in

Off-Road Suspension Package

Trailering Package

Had to take it for the transfer case recall about a week after purchase – LOL. Some things never change.

The Chevy store by me where I ordered my truck from has exactly what your looking for. Good guys to deal with. Family owned store, not a corporate store. Give them a shout and see what are willing to do. http://www.stasekchevrolet.com/auto/new-2014-chevrolet-silverado_1500-lt-wheeling-60090-il/1916087/

I complained about my ATR Scorpions on my F150....after I bought this one with A/T tires.....I was happy as heck with those, lol.

I felt/feel the same way.....descent tires, but not A/T.

On the Denali it seems like around 8k is easy to come by from just looking around on the web. I am currently talking to a dealer who tried to quote me a $54k price from $57k MSRP when the same truck is $48k at a different dealership. I am hoping to get around $12k off sticker by the time its all said and done.
