How long does the typical person finance a truck at that price 6-7-8 years? Yes some can afford large down payments or trade ins but sorry paying for a vehicle what ya pay for a house is nuts.

Tell me more about this $44k house! lol

It's pretty arrogant to judge people on what they spend their hard earned money on especially when you have no idea how well they do. For some of us, working hard and being financially responsible allows us to treat ourselves from time to time. Most people buy a car on what they can afford. It's pretty cool when what you can afford is actually what you want.

If I needed a vehicle to get from A to B, then I would pay a lot less. Plus, if you think about it, a regular cab will get the job done, especially if it is a work truck. Now trucks are designed for many purposes. I have one vehicle that I can use to tow, go fishing, haul stuff, take the lady out to dinner, transport the family, and be safe. If I only had a regular cab, I would need to get a separate vehicle. The truck is hot, so I don't mind driving it everywhere. One vehicle gets the job done no matter what you use it for. Better than having 2 or 3 vehicles..

Took the words right out of my mouth. My truck does it all & has the mileage to prove it. Next goal....200k miles, 1/2 way there.

Guess it'd just hard for me to pay 55k for a truck just to ride around in like most do anymore

Could you imagine why some people spend hundreds of thousands in some special cars just to have it as garage ornament? Welcome to the real world :)

I've been reading the forum for several months, and finally joined on Monday after buying my truck Saturday. I got a '14 Silverado in summit white, crew cab short bed 4wd. I traded a 2010 Silverado 2wd extended cab w/ z-71 appearance pkg. Here's a quick breakdown of my deal:

MSRP: $44,315

Employee Price: $39,668 ($4,646 discount)

Consumer Cash: $4,000

My price before trade: $35,668

Trade allowance: $15,667 (with 80k miles and needed new tires immediately)

Trade payoff: $10,300 ($5,367 difference)

Now we were at $30,301 and I wanted to be at $28,500. Dealer asked about $29,500 and I said no deal, because I still had to buy Line-X, color matched handles/mirror caps, heated seats - so I didn't want to go over my budget knowing I had several out of pocket costs to get what I want. (I was able to get factory white door handles/mirror caps on eBay for $235!)

We ended up at $29,500 and they took care of the Line-X. I also didn't have to pay any admin fees, etc. I also had my own financing secured before I went in there, but they were able to beat it pretty well and gave me 2.5% for 75 months. I will either re-finance or pay that off early.

I'm very happy with my price paid and financing. TTL will add another $2,500 out of pocket here in MO, but that's just the cost of doing business.

I continue to follow this forum thread, even though it has been a couple months now since I bought my truck.

Would like to make a suggestion regarding TTL (taxes, title, registration...the things your local state controls) in OTD pricing. These taxes and fees vary greatly from state to state from no sales tax to over 10%.

If the numbers quoted on this thread would be "price paid" plus TTL. it would help those comparing numbers to see a more accurate number. Fees and equipment/options your dealer adds on should be included. Documentation fees, Dealer Prep, the fee for taking your check and depositing it. :) ..etc. Those are negotiable. But is very helpful to break out those items for the people trying to compare.

I honestly think at this time of the season, you should be getting in the $9-10G off MSRP plus TTL. Especially on the more well equipped trucks. Don't get to wrapped up in all the incentives. Let your dealer work out the numbers. The flip side of this is that if an dealer MSRP includes a bunch of "over valued" dealer add-ons, $10G off may not be as good of deal as it appears. Focus on the factory numbers, then make sure you are only paying realistic numbers for the dealer add-ons.

I love my new SLT w/5.3. Ride is ridiculously quiet and smooth. Turning radius is nuts. Mileage: took it on a 1,600 mile trip. Best mileage over 25 miles was 25.1, Best mileage over 400 mile stretch was 20.6. In town driving, it struggles to get out of the mid-teens. Overall avg. with 4,000 total is 17 mpg.

Happy shopping and comparing!

I am looking to posibly purchase a new 2014 GMC Sierra 4x4 all-terrain, either in sle or slt trim.

I have been looking at GM family pricing which makes it much more enticing but not exactly excited about the pricing still.

One dealership just tried to tell me that GM doesn't allow them to doiscount more than employee pricing and it is set in stone, how true is this?

(I don't trust dealerships, not a even a bit)

Also, I'm looking to get out the door for $38k to $40k with trailerbrake, all-terrain 20's, convience and value packages, and the 5.3. Is this possible on a slt or just an sle?

Thanks!

Sticker 52000, I was $90.00 (not a typo) upside down on my 2013 SLE trade in, put 3000 down and financed 42000.. Third truck in a row bought from same dealer.

There are so many trucks on their lot.
