For those of you that bought out of town or state. How do you deal with the included service/maitenance/recall issues?

Are your hometown dealers obligated to service your truck even if you didn't buy from them?

My out of state dealer knew it would be totally impractical for me to ever come back for any service, so they had no problem whatsoever setting all my dealer preferences to my local dealer back home. When they were setting up the On-Star services, they set my local dealer as the one who gets the diagnostic info from On-star. They set my local dealer as the preferred dealer for recall notices, service reminders, etc... Like I said earlier, It wasn't their first time selling to an out of towner, they make the process pretty easy and painless.

Think I'm pulling the trigger on a 2014 Sierra 1500 crew cab 4x4 SLE. 5.3 with the machined aluminum 20s.

$45,695 msrp

$8810 off including rebates

Brings me to $40k even OTD

It's the best I can find and have been searching for a while. I'm tired of truck shopping and really need to get one for work.

I'd take that deal.... without employee pricing, that is probably about as good as you will get. I'd hold off a few more days at this point, wait until the end of the month, and then see if you can get them to throw something in like a bed liner or running boards...

You can get a better price out there, but it's still a decent deal.

I can assure every dealer I've contacted either doesn't have the exact truck I'm looking for or tells me they can't beat $40k OTD. I'm tired of talking to these guys.

I don't blame you, car shopping sucks sometimes.

I empathize with you, same as I've been going through. I've about given up on a 2014 and thinking I'll wait on 2015. Dealers make me ill.

Warranty, Included Scheduled maintenance/Service work, or Factory Recall Work are "Profit Centers" for every new auto dealership in the country. It does not matter where you buy the vehicle. The service department at any dealership will gladly change the oil or perform the other "Free" services included in the new truck price, regardless of where you bought it. The dealer is reimbursed for the parts and labor by GM for doing the work. For their Service department it is just another billable job, only GM factory pays the dealer. Understand you actually paid for it in the net price the dealer paid for the truck, it just wasn't listed as a line item on the window sticker! Think of it as being attached to the VIN not the dealer who sold it. I would be surprised if you could take a GMC to a Chevrolet dealership (or vise versa) if is was more convenient. Hope that helps clarify how that works.

2014 Chevy Silverado TX Edition Crew Cab 4x2 5.3L V8 DEMO w/4900 miles

Silver

Added black Katzkin leather(they said cost is 1400)

Spray in bed liner(they said cost is 500)

Sticker price was $37,730.00 (before leather and Bedliner.)

I paid

$33,200 out the door

It's really hard to tell if you are getting a good deal these days. This truck was built in November 13. I understand the newer trucks got a $2500 price increase. So far I've been really happy. Still not sure if I got a good deal or not.

Hey bud, just wanted to let you know that the 1K private offer just popped up on the chevy site for me first time and I've been trying all month.

I got it from this page.

http://www.chevrolet.com/silverado-pickup-trucks.html

Try to get before you do your deal.

Edit: You're getting a Sierra. May not work but worth checking out.

You got about $8500 off. That's a good deal for a $37k MSRP truck. (more than 20%).

yea private offers are back

I cleared all cookies with CCleaner

then built the truck I wanted,

searched dealer inventory, then went to the specs tab to learn about capabilities.

bam got it first try.

my dealer took an expired private offer and then called me several days later hassling me. Then today calls me again which is now 3 weeks later and says he wont process the title if I don't bring in a coupon that isn't expired or 1000

I told him To Eat A Dick and hung up. Damn did he have me fired up. anyway I got a private offer which I presume ill take with me when I go in to get some service done this week

I remember your story about that. I'd be tempted not to give it to them for blaming you for their screw up. But if printing a new one gets them out of your hair probably well worth it.
