Introducing the 2015 Chevrolet Suburban/Tahoe & GMC Yukon

Recommended Posts

this is tame compared to when the 2014 camaro photos came out. Whew hatred for the rear lights, then people saw them in person and now most like them. Let the initial "shock" blow over and let people see them in person.

Agree. People now say hay the '14 Camaro looks good! Lets see them in person. No need to rag our own company yet. Leave that for the forders and dodgers.

I can tell most comments are by folks that do not use a Sub on a regular bases for anything besides people hauler. Based on the photos we again have 8 ft of flat floor with no holes etc. for carrying stuff protected or camping. The 900 subs discarded this and many sales folks say a lot of Sub sales went to trucks for this reason. I was one. I still drive my 90 GMC sub for the 8ft of flat floor. May now dump my 09 trk or my 90 for one of these.

I'd love to know what type of focus groups GM uses or more importantly, who they are targeting with their products.

Clearly it is not the folks that are in this forum, who are already are GM owners and fans, but absolutely hate the direction that they are going.

Which begs the question, how could they be so off the mark? These vehicles don't just come out from behind the curtin overnight.

I'd bet that if they pulled the folks from this forum in, we could design a vehicle that would have folks flocking to the dealerships.

Hate to break it to you, but that is what most people by them for. Hence the term Soccer Mom SUV. Although its mistky gone back to minivans with gas prices a few years ago. But even here in OK, I live in a mostly rural town, practically every SUV is loaded with kids. People usually buy trucks for camping amd towing.

I am in the market for a large (not extra large) SUV so I was really looking forward to this release. I really like the GMC. The grill opening is a large bug catcher, but I can get over that. I like the boxiness. Love the interior - I was afraid they were going to have the ugly interior of the trucks in them. I don't like the Tahoe. The front is round looking, but the rear is square. It is as if they took the front of an explorer and paired it with the rear of an olde escalade. Just doesn't flow. plus, that weird pointy front fender in the headlights is a distraction.

I am really interested in the Durango. It isn't a full size, but it has a ton of room and can tow around 7000 lbs. Plus, it has air leveling with the tow package. On top of that, the Durango R/T can be had around 40k, where the GMC will probably be in the 55-60k range.

EDIT - scratch the durango. I hear it will be axed 2016. LOL I guess the only large American SUV that can still tow a large boat will be Yukon and Tahoe.

Almost the exact same front end as 2003???

No, my point was that I think this is comparable to the shock many of us had with the pinched front-ends on the 2003 Silverados. I'm not saying that these Suburban/Yukons have the same LOOK as the 2003 Silverados, but that the shock and negative reaction is the same.

I agree with that! I still haven't stopped citchen and bomplaining about the 2003-2007 angry kitchen appliance looking Chevrolets. I think I may even still hold a grudge at GM designers for doing that to this day

I was invited and participated in one several years ago. Very fun filled day. You would never guess but I voiced my options to GM managers. Made them nervous. They were more comfortable asking the questions than answering them. Looking forward to the next one.

Doesnt seem like many members here are part of any focus groups. Back before the 99's came out I received a survey and talked on the phone with someone from the engineering group. I am sure gm follows this forum, they need to take a look at what the camaro group does with involving the customer. The last 2 yrs I have either met, talked to or seen every high level person (mgr, engineer, etc) on the project at multiple events (indy 500, camaro5 fest, etc). They really are true enthusiasts and take to heart what they are putting out there (not saying the truck guys dont). Seems like the only people involved are the media (magazines, etc.)

Back in 2009 when I was trying to buy my current truck I was able to get in contact with the chevrolet product/marketing group manager since my local dealer couldnt get an allocation to order a 2010. He was awesome, within less than 2 days after talking with him the truck was ordered, had an order number and every few days he updated me on the status of my truck. He even followed up after I got the truck.
