Adding Aftermarket Sub/Amp

Recommended Posts

To the guys that added a sub in their BOSE 2014 - did you have any feedback issues with the noise cancellation stuff (mics) that the BOSE has ? I'm getting a sub/amp installed tomorrow , not messing with any of the other BOSE speakers. Just want to insure I have no issues...

Installed my sub last summer.. zero feedback. I wouldn't mess with the rear mic unless you have problems.

Your truck listed is a 5.3, the noise cancelation is only on the 6.2 engine optioned trucks. The noise cancellation will make the sub overcompensate and you get crazy feed back. I was unable to be sure what wire to unplug, so I pulled down the very back of the headliner and sniped the wire going to the rear mic. You may be able to get it by pulling the third brake light, its taped in the same harness.

ok.. so this is 100% verified that only the 6.2 has the active noise cancellation? Us 5.3 guys don't need to worry about it?

Yes

Yes. Look at the headliner above.the backseat, on 6.2 models there is a roughly 3" grill above the middle seat. Tjats the rear mic. There is also matxhing mic's in the middle of each entry assist fold down handle above the passenger seat.

To make it real simple to tap in a sub. If you pop up the door sill cover of the rear passenger side, there will be a plastic channel holding audio wires. Pull off the top plate, your sub wires will be the thicker twistested wires. They run from the amp to the sub, splice those to a loc and your set.

Seems to be a limited info about boxes and options for us double cab owners.. anyway, I had this installed yesterday. Because of the humps and curves of the floor, they had to make a custom fiberglass box. Pretty nice, fits like a glove. Also got a bass controller installed up front in the side map pocket. The bass is way more than I could ever need. The reality is I probably would have been fine with just a 8in sub after hearing this set up.

Oh alright, I am looking at running the exact same setup and SAT is going to do it for me. They had told me they have done it for a few other 14s also, I thought yours might have been one, guess not lol. Looks really good though.
