Weird Mylink issue I discovered tonight.

Recommended Posts

So while testing to see if my 32gig SD card would work with the mylink system in my truck I stumbled onto something that I think is a bug in the truck, or it is something that they didn't test at all, or think about.

So I get my 32gig SD card, I unlock the truck and I climb into the passenger side of the car. Don't know why, Im lazy and it was closer. :-)

Anyway, I start the truck, put the SD card in and select media, do my testing, everything works fine. I remove my sd card I switch it back to Radio, radio is playing I turn off my truck, remove the keys, exit the vehicle and lock the doors the remote.

Guess what??? Radio is still playing!!! I wait like 5 minutes, it is still playing. Now I can only assume it will turn itself off like it does if you just sit in the car on the drivers side without opening the drivers door, but seriously???? No one in the truck, locked and it continues to play!?!?

I go over to the drivers side, unlock door and open door and, of course, it turns itself off like it should when you open the door.

Guess they forgot to include the passenger door, or never thought of the scenario that I produced?

When we borrowed my friends father's 2011 3500 to tow his Chevelle to Ignace in June we discovered the same on that truck. I keep forgetting to try it on mine.

Yep, the radio will keep playing for about 15 minutes then shut off. Not many people go into their vehicle and listen to the radio in the passenger seat only. It is basically designed for those like me that sit in in the vehicle while the wife and kids shop. They can get out without turning off the radio, but once the drivers door is open it turns off.

I just discovered that on my `09 last week. I was cleaning the inside with the radio on. I did the passenger side last and when I was done I reached across, pulled the key out and shut the door. Radio kept playing until I went around and opened the driver's door.

I still believe its a problem if the truck is locked with the remote and it still plays. It should tell it to turn off if remotely locked. Just my opinion.

I always liked this feature. Allows you to listen to music in your garage or on your driveway, without the "dinging"

Not sure about the '14s but on the 900s you can open the drivers door (ding, Ding) and use your finger to flip the door latch lock on the door frame down to clicks. No dinging as trk thinks door closed. Be SURE to flip door handle before closing door.

The dinging on the '14 model will time out after a minute or two and stop. I have experienced this while pumping gas with the driver door open.
