You can blame the safety nannies in Washington DC & lawyers for all of the above. Aside from the cylinder deactivation, do not think you can find any other brand(new) as you have mentioned.

 

As far as the other posts above about the 5.3 & the 6.2 hp numbers...The old 6.2L is 403hp/417 & the new 5.3L is 355hp/383.

I was originally really excited about the 2014 arrival, but after seeing them in person and seeing the 2014 sitting beside a 2013,I really don't like the new trucks, they are in your face bigger which I don't like I seriously think they need to start making the trucks a little smaller, I hate the new front end and the tailgate on the new trucks,they are too big and bold.The 900's made the 800's look small now the 2014's make the 900's look small in comparison.Maybe they will grow on me over time as I remember thinking the same thing about the 900's when they arrived and now I like them.My next truck will be a simple truck if there is such a thing, I want a truck that uses all of it's cylinders all the time, a truck that dosen't lock me in as soon as I throw it in gear, a truck that dosen't care if I wear a seat belt or not, a truck that dosen't care if the door is shut tight,or if your windshield washer fluid is low,they are building trucks idiot proof and I'm no idiot so these things annoy the heck out of me,sorry for my rant,I don't know what I will buy for a truck in the future but for now anyway it won't be a GM truck.

Waiting for 2015 models. I will either buy a 6.2 half ton with the 8 speed automatic and 6'6" bed OR 2015 Duramax.

 

6.2 requires you to upgrade to SLT price will prob be 48 - 50k minimum. If I can get a SLE duramax for not much more than the half ton then why not?!

The dealer I talked to was not willing to come down from MSRP + TTL. I will never pay MSRP for a vechicle. I also want to wait and see the new tahoes and suburbans. I may buy a new tahoe instead.

The first one available in my area that I looked at was $43,000. The salesman came out to bug me about buying it when I was only wanting to look at it. He told me he would even sell it to me at the full sticker price. Here we are over a month and a half later, and that very truck is still on their lot. I wonder why...?

They are hideous..... just like how I still view the gmt900s. I just go along with the thought gm ended all truck production in 2007. I might try an 8 speed 6.2 truck.... but I doubt it. Price is just like everyone else really... way too high for absolutely no justified value. But you people keep buying them and financing... or I call mortgaging them for 7 or 8 years so why not.

I don't see how guys complain about AFM. The gas mileage on these trucks is amazing. I feel bad for gm sometimes because no matter what people are going to complain.

I'm thinking of the new Ram. I sat in the country trim, amazing interior. Ram even put the light back under the hood. Very nice truck. I hear the 6.4Hemi is going to be the new and only v8 option soon. The dial shifter is not cool but it's a nice truck.

People complain about it because it's a joke. If you drive on anything, but flat land it's worthless. People amaze me with worring about gas mileage in a TRUCK.
