I was told 70% which theoretically matches up with what the meter read combined with the tint i got. .7 x .15 = 10.5, meter read .09.

.30 x .20 = .06, meter read .06

Just out if curiosity, does anyone know how to go about getting a medical exemption for window tint? I wanna go dark on my front windows but don't feel like getting a ticket later for it

A willing opthomologist can write a prescription that you keep with your registration papers.

Tell the eye doctor your photophobic. I'm running everything limo. When the stop me I had them my license and they say have a good day. Lol it's good forever once you get it on your license. Pry makes the cops mad but oh well truck looks awsome blacked out.

That used to work in Louisiana. The exemptions now go through a medical review board and if it's photophobia, it usually gets rejected because they say sunglasses or the right lenses corrects the problem. Everyone was going to the local optometrist and getting exemptions so they wised up to it. The last person I knew who tried to get a photophobia exemption, the optometrist wouldn't do it and said he wasn't sticking his neck out when it would get denied anyway. This will vary from state to state. I ended up getting a security exemption.

Getting my windows done right now. I get a hook up at the dealership. $50 for the two fronts. They did a test and found the rear privacy windows in my crew cab to be at 18% from the factory. The front windows are also a little "smoked". They added a small piece to the front to test and found that 25% tint over the front windows will yield between 18% and 19%, so a near perfect match. That is what I imagine will be the closest match, at least on my truck. They said that 35% over the fronts will get you to about 25% (estimating) for the front. I ended up going with the 25% to get the close match to the rear.

5% tint on front windows. 20% over the factory rears and 5% windshield strip. Front and rear match pretty close. Love the dark tint , very happy I went for the 5%

Looks great, but I sure would not want to back that truck up in my part of the woods.

It is way to hard to see behind you for me when its that dark.

But again, it looks great.

You know i've been wanting to go 10% on my front windows instead of 15% that i have, and i likely will but honestly sometimes at night with even 15% it can be pretty hard seeing out of.

To be honest, my street and driveway is pretty dark at night and I just always use the back up camera instead of looking out . I've learned to trust it. ...and in two seconds the windows could roll down . lol it really isn't as bad as I thought it would be while driving at night , it's a 3m film so I guess that helps as far as quality of film and seeing out vs seeing in

Never used anything but 3m... had lots of cars with dark tint.

I'm over it... Like I said it looks great, so if you don't mind it then by all means go as dark as you want.

It is very easy to hit something like a person when turning.

Yes, you can roll the windows down to back up, but what about a turn on a dark residential street.

Over the years I have almost hit a person, have hit a center median and just missed lots of other stuff.

I don't want to discourage anyone from getting it the way they want.

10% just inst for me anymore.

My town is so broke and small we don't have stop signs, let alone street lights.

Most intersections are yield to the person traveling east and west.

Out of towers don't know this and just fly through, lots of wrecks.

It was one of these street that I almost hit a person dressed dark when making a turn.

That looks really good, especially on a black truck. It's good that yours actually matched. I tried doing the same thing, but the fronts ended up being just a little bit darker than the back. Apparently, I'm more OCD than I realized because it drove me nuts. The tint shop ended up putting an extra layer of 50% over the back to make it just a little darker than the front.

Yeah, sometimes my 5% is too dark for me at night time, but I love it during the day. I actually think 10-15% would be perfect, but none of the tint shops around here carry anything in that range. They all offer 50%, 35%, 20%, and 5%.

Yeah my guy was out of 10%. I like 15% it's definitely in a much darker realm to the naked eye compared to 20%. Don't get me wrong 20% can look and seem dark, but you can tell when it's below 20% easily. My brother has 20%. 10% which is the way my rear windows are is perfect. You can barely if barely see in during the day, and there is no way at night. 15% at night and cloudy days you really can't see into. Sunny days however becomes apparent.

I chipped a spot on the drivers side window so it gives me an excuse to go 10%. I just wonder how hard it will be for me or him to remove.
