Truck Width with Towing Mirrors

Recommended Posts

We have just bought a 27' travel trailer and I am debating on adding GM towing mirrors to my 2010 Sierra. Can someone tell me how wide the truck will be with towing mirrors installed (like the ones that HD trucks come with)? I want to make sure that I can still back the truck in my garage. If it is going to be too wide, guess I will have to find a set of 'clip on' mirrors, any recommendations?

Thanks! I think I will be going with the towing mirrors unless someone has a recommendation for a good 'clip on' style (that don't vibrate badly).

The mirrors fold in as much as you need to clear the sides of the truck. I have a very tight space where I need to keep the truck and I fold the mirrors in two thirds of the way and then adjust them so I can still use them to see where I am backing in. I also added a 4" convex mirror to the top section on each side which helps when merging with traffic on the freeway.

I would not dream of driving the truck without them. I bought my truck new so after we agreed on the price for the truck I got the dealer to swap out the stock mirrors for the camper/tow mirrors at no additional cost.

I tried the clipons for a couple of years and finally bit the bullet and put on the factory mirrors. They aren't cheap but they are so much better for towing than the clipons
