So I was seriously considering buying a 2017 Silverado this morning. Went to the Dealership here in Tampa to see if they would address any of these vibrating issues. The salesmam said he's never heard of it but the manager said he has and its been resolved. When I asked what the fix was he looked away and said "I dont know". I've been a loyal customer for over 40 years and have several GM products in my storage facility and driveway. Honestly this was the worst experience Ive ever had on a chevy lot. I wont mention the name of the dealership but Im considering contacting the owner and telling him his manager recommended I go to carmax for my trade in. (F250 03 loaded with only 71k miles and in excellent condition. The wife and I were shocked at the attitude from the beginning of breaching the issue of a potential issue with the truck we wanted to buy. They lost a customer at least until I can get some resolution to this vibration issue. Cant imagine spending all that money for something that I would hate to drive. Has anyone driven the 18's yet? Do they do it too?

I don't know if it's worth taking it in, it seems a few people have been resolved but most haven't.

I think it's even more unlikely they help me after I lost it on their insurance broker who slipped a $2,000 gap insurance contract into my insurance.

With new tires I'm getting different vibes, for the most part reduced somewhat a slow speeds (thankful for this) around town. However more shake at 70-80 with Mickey Thompsons 265/65/18

Folks on this site warned me to stay with an all season highway tire or Michelin atx. I at moment am using rancho adjustables on rear set on 2 and bilstein 4600 on front this combo seems to help hold off the shakes somewhat. With this set-up I am enjoying driving the truck until I hit 80.

Soon will install front rancho adjustables in the front and see how it drives compared to my present set-up. If you wanna go fast in these trucks you have to

Prolly upgrade axles. Drive-shaft, make it 2,pieces, torque converter and hubs. They designed this truck to do the speed limit and that's about it. smart-ass engineers!

I bought this truck for the good MPG's, however I think this shake in vibes are a consequence of shaving weight etc in the quest of getting better fuel economy.

Be careful what you wish for!

Love and hate my truck cause I own it out right!

Every GM vehicle whether it has a 6 or 8 speed transmission suffers from this. This is present across different models from Cadillac, GMC, and Chevy. Here's a thread that explains the issue. Please read through the thread before you come back and gripe.

If you search other GM forums, they are having the same conversation. GM just sold more trucks, so we b1tch more about it.

Here is the service requirement .... 3x transmission flush, Mobil 1 Full Synthetic ATF with the option to replace the TC if present after 200 miles. GM has been fixing this issue in Escalades since the (2014-15) model change. Same platform, different tax bracket.

Torque converter shudder. Bulletin 16-NA-175.

Forget the tires, shocks, leaf springs etc. Those are quality issues. But don't take my word for it. Search according to your transmission type add torque converter shudder and it will lead you to

Bulletin 16-NA-175.

Well one way to identify a torque converter shudder is lightly touching the brake pedal. While carefully maintaining vehicle speed with one foot, delicately apply the brakes with the other. If the shudder immediately stops, with brake application, the problem is likely the torque converter clutch. * I tried this myself tonight and felt no Difference, however truck was running good without its harsh shake. Try again later. Edited by Gofas

Mine does the rumble strip shake religiously. Lazy SOBs told me it was normal. 3 years and now we have confirmation. Not tires. Cotdamn man.

2500s have a significantly different drivetrain...they do suffer (some of them) from frame beaming because of the extremely rigid frame, but I haven't heard of that in a couple years now...I think they changed the body mounts to solve that problem?

900's were a step backwards from 800's the K2's are a far superior truck so your actually stepping backwards farther than you think....

The 2010 I am referring to is a 2500HD. Absolutely bulletproof. We use them in the logging industry here, the get the crap kicked out of them and wont die. Still have 1 GMT800 too its' a Dmax with 660,000km, no injectors done. Personally, I had a 2010 1500 as well, $120 purge canister in 5 years, also a top notch truck. This 2014 however, I want to ghost ride it off the nearest cliff.

I drove a brand new 2011 2500HD off the lot and directly to R-0-W's and it was not as stout as the 2006 2500HD not even close....Every company truck and driver felt the same give me the old one back! As for the motor 6.0 it's 100% absolutely the best damn gas engine ever! It never breaks! Sucks up the Gas but never even spent 5 cents on any motor work on a Dozen 6.0's and we pounded the shit out of em.........

Are you having an actual issue or just using hearsay? There is such a small percentage of the trucks that actually have it, it is just multiplied on the forums but even here is in an extremely small sample size. No matter the brand you go to there are issues exaggerated beyond reality that aren't much of an issue. Not buying because or a potential issue that most likely won't happen is preposterous. If there is the case you should just walk as everything has something. Toyota bed bounce, Ford limp modes and lord only knows the number of Dodge issues.

"I was ready to buy my new Silverado this Friday until I did some research on it, seems like a few issues going on with the fuel management, oil consumption and transmission, not to mention the "chevy shake" thing. Do all of them do this? I'm not sure I want to gamble with my 50k. "

Another of your worried posts. Fuel management isn't an issue, it was on the first gen in the early to mid 2000's, little to any issue these days outside of a rogue problem. This also applies to the oil consumption issue. Transmission is just some slower shifting and occasional clunk, not a problem, some people make a mountain out of a mole hill for no reason and are the types that are never satisfied and constantly complain. The torque converter issue (which I am sure you are probably hinting at) is even less of an issue than the shake. Stop reading in to stuff on the forums so much, go take a look at the laundry list of Ford Issues or any other manufacturer, then go buy a bus pass...
