Well I could post 869 posts but that won't make me any smarter. People like you are the ones clogging up the thread. The very same ones you complain about. Keep posting at this rate and you'll be a moderator before long!

 

I bet your GMC needed to be detailed 100 yards down the road from the dealership. You were probably an excited boy, first truck and all. We all remember our first time. hahaha.. I bet you're the guy who puts his toolbox in the bed by throwing it over the side!

My 2015 GMC 1500 4x4 with only 24k miles has had the dreaded shake since I purchased it. Been to the dealership numerous times, replaced 2 tires at my expense, replaced driveshaft, swapped tires & wheels with a 2017 Denali and I still have the shake. It begins at 70, and oscillates from shaking so bad it will vibrate bad enough to shake the entire truck.... continues for a .3 of a mile and gradually gets better. It almost disappears for .2 of a mile and then it gradually returns to the horrible shake. The dealership is at loss for the repair. If a GM representative is monitoring this, please advise. If anyone has truly had any luck with repairing the dreaded Chevy Shake... please advise. Thanks!

Earlier this month, the dealer replaced my drive shaft, ring gear and pinon. This was after several visits to them complaining about the vibration where they continuously blamed it on my aftermarket tires. Luckily my last visit I was able to talk to a service rep that has a clue, he used to be a mechanic for GM so he knew exactly what was going on and actually tried to fix it.

While the vibration is less noticeable it is still there i am scheduling an appointment today to get it back in to have it looked at again along with my radio reception issues.

Out of curiosity, i put a gopro underneath my truck in a number of locations. I found that at the front of the driveshaft (transmission side) it bounces and flexes all over the place and looks like its moving through the transmission. I feel like the design as well as the quality of the driveshaft is creating the issues with seeing it actually flex a lot under torque load and appears to not even be round in slow motion. For the people who have dealt successfully with the dealerships, would it be wise to bring video evidence to the table when i talk to them, or just play stupid and let them balance my tires for the 15th time just to get a response?

Here's another victim. 2017 GMC Sierra 2500 Denali Duramax. Truck is shacking since day 1. Brought it to the dealer today after 2 weeks of owning it, they did a "Road Forced Balance" on all 4 wheels, and its still shaking, starting at 50 and around 70 MPH its worst, to the point that the passenger seat is going sideways and I can feel it in the steering wheel and seat. Its not super extreme, but annoying enough that I avoid longer trips on the highway. It is constant at those speeds and gets better at 80+.

 

Any ideas in my case? I'd hate having to read 748 pages with all this troll crap in-between.

I haven't heard too much about the 2500's. This thread is mostly about the half tons. Sorry about your situation though... And unfortunately, welcome to the club.

Oh, I didn't see the 1500 sub-forum, was coming in from a search result in Google. Well that gives me hope that my case might be easier to fix. Now I feel bad for all you 1500 guys.

 

GM really needs to get their quality straightened out. I also own a Vette... total nightmare.

Chevys are known for many years for the sloppy slip yoke. Makes the loud clunk while switching gears or direction. (In and out movement of the shaft) as for side to side and up and down, did you happen to see if it's the huge bushing the transfer case sits on overflexing? ( Or maybe the the transmission also ) mine gets worse in the summer. Wonder if the warmer weather softens the bushings.

I had that slip yoke issue on my 08' and rear end went out twice.

 

You can definitely see the transmission jumping and moving with the driveshaft and was considering maybe using a stiffer energy suspension type mount.

 

I just feel like there is a whole lot going on just by looking at my video like the soft mount, out of balance shaft, heard that the aluminum shaft sidewalls are particularly thin which would explain the flexing as well as it looking out of round just to begin with.

In fact, had two yokes replaced under warranty and numerous cleanings and greasings, all temporary fixes. I finally gave up and just drove it with the condition. Btw, and completely off topic; as usual, lol :) there's another historic problem that I believe some little nefarious engineering elf in the bowels of GM designs into every model year after year. It's the chronic sticking folding mirror problem. I've had this condition on one of my wife's Suburbans, my 2008 and current 2015 Silverados. I've never been able to have the dealer repair any of these as the mischievous little elf back at GM has engineered this condition to be none repeatable while on dealer property. Ok, I'm through, here's your thread back :)

Ok, Kings X, one more off-topic post and I promise to not do it again till next time. My ac condenser went out last week so took it to dealer as my truck is still in warranty. Was informed that the condenser had failed, developed a leak. When I asked how long it would take to repair I was informed by my service rep that he didn't know because the condenser is on "national back order". Fortunately, I was given a loaner so guess I can live with the wait for awhile. But, problem appears to be fairly large and is apparently across the GM spectrum of trucks and SUV's. Anyway, there's a thread up and running in this forum so I won't post about this again on this thread. But, now you know if your ac craps out on you :)
