You can buy this Corvette off the shelf at any Chevy dealer.

Z06 is a true world-class supercar. Conceived on the track and engineered alongside the C7.R race car, Z06 features a lightweight and rigid aluminum space frame, as well as a supercharged 6.2L aluminum V8 engine delivering 650 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque.

However, I will acknowledge that a DOHC engine, all other things being equal, has more upside potential than a normally aspirated pushrod/cam in block engine. But, we aren't talking Formula 1, Indy Cars or off-shore cigarette race boats.. We're talking pickups.

However the Z06 isn't too good at the 1/4 mile tracks:

While we are talking pickups, check out the 3.5L V-6 EcoBoost specs on the 2017 Raptor, more HP, and torque, than your 6.2L V-8!

I guess you haven't seen any engine tests like this, worth the time to watch:

You can get whatever you want out of an engine if that's what your objective is and you want to invest the money. Case in point; Henry Ford II decided to stick it to Ferrari for going back on his agreement to sell to Ford. Henry put together a team headed by the late Carroll Shelby (who btw designed my logo while in a drunken stupor down at the Terilinqua Chili Cook off way back when, lol) who took a big ole 427 pushrod wedge head and beat Ferrari, swept 1,2,3, and its sophisticated DOHC engines, and did it for the next four years in a row. The big 427 was then outlawed by a displacement rule as I recall. Not refined enough for European sensibilities I suppose, lol :)

Interesting, thank you for posting! I'm sure it was after that, that Ford came out with the 427 "cammer", that NASCAR banned.

Yup, it was later. Btw, by now you may have figured out that I'm oooold! So, I remember some of this stuff without googling. The Ford 427 cammer was their answer to the MOPAR 426 Hemi. As I recall, not going to bother with googling, the Cammer "may" have ran one race at which it blew everything, including the Hemi's, away. Bill France did not like that at all as Richard Petty, aka The King, was a huge draw at the gate. So, anyway, France banned the Cammer. However, it lived on and thrived in NHRA drag racing. Btw, if you should find one abandoned in a barn somewhere you will have hit the lottery, worth a bunch of money.

I apologize for being off topic, but while we are talking Ford 427 "cammers" this is one of the most beautiful cars I saw at SEMA:https://bob-ayers.smugmug.com/SEMA-55-Chevy-with-Ford-427/

I've enjoyed our technical discussion!

Yah, it was fun! I wouldn't worry about drifting off in the weeds. This forum has slowed way down and I'm guessing my good friend "rdnckhntr94" who is this forums administrator may very well appreciate the extra clicks. Btw, I'm not anti Ford, got a neighbor a block over who owns a black Ford GT and when he has in his driveway I drool with envy as I drive by. Watched one sell on Barrett-Jackson a few days ago for $250K, out of my league for sure, lol!

Hold on just a second, if this thread is going to go off the rails I'm getting back in !!!!!!

Hey Bill,

Long time no see! What's that big white tub you're driving? Next time there will probably be a pic of Dodge Voyager, lol ! All is good here, still happy with my LTZ (there, we are back on topic, haha). Been to Argyle lately? I've been craving some Babes fried chicken. But, my wife is eating healthy, greens, twigs, fruit and berries. So, I'm eating healthy too ! Well, Rumor is GM Will do a major retool for model year 19 on the Silverados and the Sierras. Maybe all the shake problems will be corrected, we'll see! Hey, don't be a stranger as we say down here in Texas! God Bless Texas !!!!

Oh trust me, you won't be seeing a Dodge.

It is a 2017 Sequoia, needed something easier for hauling the dogs around than the Tundra. But now as the dogs get bigger and I get even older I am wishing i got a minivan lol

So if they are doing a retool for 2019 i'm guessing the 2018's will still have the issue, so sad :(

Yup, agree. Having spent thirty five years as a manufacturing/operations mgr, I'm fairly well versed in statistics, SPC, 6 sigma and such and understand that variability is the enemy. Anyway, the dudes chatting up the frame, frame beaming and such are getting real close to what is exhibiting the problem. I tend to see the root causes to be many. And, the current frame, being stiffer with higher tensile strength than past frames is more of an enabler than a inhibitor than previous frames. The bearer of bad news is another way to say it. Seems to me that there are numerous in-process fixes that could be applied to mitigate shake and vibration till GM can retool. I've wondered why GM doesn't do something similar to what Ford did with the F-150 and simply install large rubber pads attached between frame and cab. Anyway, this is out of my wheel house. Should be interesting though.

I have a 2017 and it has a slight vibration. I've already removed the driveshaft and had it checked for balance and of course it checked out fine. I've also removed the rear tires and found out the rear axel flange seems to be out of round. I'm hoping that is the cause and also my next step with the dealership.

My drive shaft was both out of balance and not straight. After addressing that at Advance Driveline, there was a significant improvement. The dealer still says I have three bad tires (after Firestone replaced them four times - changing brands as well). Firestone checked them again, and reported that they disagree with the dealership's assessment (of course). I think Firestone is correct. I don't have a wheel hop. I have a high-frequency, very mechanical, vibration.

Is the paint as thin as the GM black paint? I have only ever hand washed mine and dried w/ microfiber towels and it has scratches everywhere.

And to update my vibration nonsense GM is still saying that my truck is operating as normal even though it makes me nauseous..

That's alright though. The local dealers have been seeing a lot of my lemon driving through their lots. They just shake their heads but nobody has approached me yet.

I want to say that its a better paint, but I honestly have no idea. I did have a few hairline scratches in the clear coat on my truck but the detail got them out... or hid them lol

have you ever done a clay bar or had it professionally detailed? I get my vehicles detailed 1-2 times a year (every spring and sometimes in the fall depending on my schedule) and I maintain it myself the rest of the year. A good clay bar with a polish and wax applied and a buffer will go a long long way.

if you don't already have one, get a grit guard for your wash bucket and have a different set of towels for drying and washing, don't mix them.

Another thing is to make sure you use an actual car soap. Standard dish soap like many people use will strip the wax that has been applied which will end up hurting the paint. The only time you should ever consider using a dish soap is if you're intentionally trying to strip the wax and intend to reapply it right away.

Driven Perfection - I got their Stage 2 Complete - Does Interior and Exterior for $245 (I live in Massachusetts)

I used the location in your profile to check out a few detailers in your area. These guys seem to be really good, check out their Complete Exterior Detail Package or their Full Service Detail (Basically the Stage 2 Complete Package I got that does Interior and Exterior).

First Class Auto Detailing

If your feeling really ambitious and have a little extra cash to throw around check out the ceramic pro coating. a buddy of mine owns a different shop than the one I went to, its too far away for me to use, but he LOVES these ceramic coatings, they are expensive though.

GM has officially closed my case and told me to live with the vibrations. I filed the BBB complaint but think I would rather just hire a lawyer and do the lemon law.

Which is the best direction for a quick resolution? Ready to go buy a Ram Rebel. Done with GM forever - lousy lousy customer service.
