There maybe some truth to this! I am on my second batch of "GM Certified" tires and still no solution.

So I'm up to the following parts.

Tires x 3 or 4 sets

Right and left rear axle

Ring and pinion

Right front wheel hub

New wheels

Steering bushings

I still don't have possession of my truck. Over 30days straight.

They have replacement all those parts? Wow, according to much of what I have read, most dealers would have stopped before that. Some have said they had driveshaft issues. Have they eliminated that?

Yea I am fortunate to have a good service manager at the dealership I bought it at. They did a runout test of the prop shaft. What I do not like is how they rely on the pico scope for troubleshooting. It keeps coming back with Tire1 at 34.

 

IF GM would send them better parts and service bulletins this would be behind me and us. I can't fault the dealerships on this one.

Another person mentioned a pico scope. Same type that's used for examining engines?

 

SRA's seem to be the most used. I tried to get the ones on my truck swapped for Bridgestone when I bought the truck but they wouldn't do it.

Frame beaming.....energy from the engine, road, driveline is the culprit!

These new frames are made of lighter steel made from spring steel, or heat treated metal in laymans terms.

 

These new frames are very stiff and very light weight, when energy is absorbed into the frame it starts to vibrate and oscillation occours.

 

Tires, driveshaft, and the rest of their monkey wrench attempts to change "cancel" out this vibration of engine, road energy is all they can do.

 

GM knows this frame is vibrating and causing trouble....2018's frame should have big changes to eliminate this issue.

I mentioned the vibration to the service adviser when I was in for an oil change. He basically said the same thing.

 

Claimed the other trucks did the same thing but the frame absorbed it and we didn't feel it. The new frames are boxed and stiffer and transmit the issues.

 

Mine varies. I noticed some parts of the freeway will cause it worse then others.

Funny fact they put SLT premium 20" wheels and tires on the truck and vibration was still present. Then they put Work truck 17" wheels and tires on and vibration still present.

 

GM still relies on the PICO Scope readings that say tire 1 vibration! Readings have been 34-38 on the PICO scope.

 

New flash! It's probably not tires!

 

Funny thing GM has stopped communicating now that I mentioned the 5 letter yellow fruit name [emoji522]

GM traded me out of my 2016 to 2017. 1500 miles and this one is starting to shake too. Not as bad as the 2016 but I still notice it and it drives me insane. GM, this platform is absolute garbage. I don't care what anyone says, they all shake, some people I guess just don't notice it as much as others. The frame it too stiff and poor tolerances with everything else. Transfers everything to the passengers.

I.E. pico scope on the seats or steering wheel, drive shaft runout, 4x4 diff shims, exhaust, body mounts, driveline angles etc....?

The "service" department is only interested in getting you in and out of the "service" department. It is a glorified Jiffy Lube at best. If you want any kind of real analysis or repair, you'll have to find a shop with real mechanics. They'll chase down the problem and charge you accordingly. Otherwise good luck getting this crap resolved. The warranty on these trucks are written with invisible ink. Edited by Severado

Flat rate and job guides that pay half time for what a real repair cost is what hurts the dealerships. It's hard to keep good technicians when warranty work pays crap time for diagnostic work.

 

Add to that poor tech data from the manufacturer and it's a perfect storm.

Here is the game that GM is playing with us. They know they have a issue and what they are doing is a deny and delay - hoping we will just stop and go away. I have seen where people ask how that can afford to throw parts at this issue. It is simple - they use their suppliers and claiming warranty against them. They also know that no one can afford a good lawyer to take them to court - we as owners have all received damages - loss of value, our time, and aggravation. We need to band together and create a class action law suite. The government will not do nothing - matter of fact the laws are written against us in Ohio - 3500s are not included in the lemon law - that is what I was told by the dealer. The only way this insanity will stop is one of two ways: 1. We all stop buying GM products - that way they clean up the issue - for some that will not happen. 2. Hit them where they care - in the pocket book. It is time to form a lawsuit and bring this issue to a end.

Really? I just rolled 28K 1year and put a set of wiper blades on the damn thing? Probably the best overall vehicle I ever bought nothing is out of place misaligned, incorrect, broken, cheap or rattling.

 

Note.....I have found the culprit of the shake and depending on surface driven over I can get my rig to shake like nobody's business......Love this truck and driving it count me in on the lawsuit!

Somebody tried to do the class action lawsuit already. He was only able to help himself really. If my memory serves me correctly, he got a buyback and then went to another brand shortly after. It's very frustrating and absurd that in 2017 we are plagued with expensive cheap sh1t. Contaminated food, high prices for insurance we can't use, and tons of BS everywhere else. I'm going to keep this truck for another year, and buy myself a leftover 2016/17 Frontier. They'll be cheap AF when the new body style drops. It's what I should have done all along. My current truck is reliable in every other way. Shakes like a twerking video though, even with all of the money I've burned on suspension, wheels, and tires. Edited by Severado
