Virtually all modern cars/pickups will create harmonic buffering when driving with the a window down. I've read that the reason is because these vehicles are designed aerodynamically to be driven at speed with windows up. Older vehicles, say before ac was so common weren't designed for maximizing aerodynamics. They were designed to achieve a certain look or style. Anyway, I do like to drive with my window down on occasion because I look so cool when doing "one arm driving", hahal! The way I minimize buffing is to crack the right-rear window about two or three inches. This little trick seems to work for me :)

 

This really isn't the right fix (you shouldn't have to add something to your vehicle) but since I installed window vent visors I have ZERO wind buffeting no matter what combination of windows I have open/closed ...

Traded my '14 high country 4X4 one year ago for a '15 platinum FX4. Couldn't be happier. I'll never go back to chevy. No vibrations , no radio issues , seat issues , nothing.

I have a 2016 Silverado LTZ Z71 and it shakes like crazy in idle and it feels like a rock is stuck in the tires when driving. The transmission also slips between 1st and 3rd gear during breaking and acceleration. GM know there is a problem with the new product, but won't do anything to fix it and told me it is how the truck is designed to perform. After visiting the shop twice they refuse to see it for the third time because of the lemon law. I consulted a few mechanics and realized Chevy or GM is not doing what the can to resolve the issues. There are more than one possible solution for the shake, it is not only the motor mount, it could possibly be the transmission mount, transmission yoke, or rear differential.

I am a Soldier ready to deploy and would like to put this problem behind, but GM rep will not do anything to help. I was pretty much told to trade my truck in for a new one and lose over $9k due to depreciation. My truck currently have less than 3k miles, and this problem is covered under warantee. I am very disappointed and wrote to the Federal Trade Commission, Consumer Affairs, and I am currently drafting a letter to Congress with other people signatures to protest GM's corporate subsidies and tax breaks. I will also write to my State's Attorney General and possibly file a law suit against GM. I will continue to follow blogs and social media chats about GM products and exercise my Freedom of Expression and express my feelings about GM costumer relation experience I had. I will also tell every Soldier and Airman about my experience and I will let them sit in my truck to see it so they won't make the same mistake as me. I refuse to spread positive words about GM vehicles when they refuse to what is right.

GM refuse to do what is right for the consumers after we, the consumers (tax payers) bailed them out. Don't forget, GM had an honesty issue with defects, remember the ignition switch scandals. Tax payers give GM over $3.5B each year in corporate subsidies and they outsourced their business to Mexico and over charged American for crappy products. I deeply regret buying a GM vehicle. I thought I was doing the right thing by purchasing an American product, but I was mistaken.

Just in case any GM rep reading this want to know who I am, my last name is Chau and I own a white 2016 Silverado LTZ and had called many times complaining about the issues.

You will need to fight them and threaten, I was rejected 5 times. I would recommend an attorney that knows the process. With all of this info and if you can prove you have a problem they will buy it back.

Well, the most interesting comment in your thread is "I am a solder". Mind telling your rank? I got out of the army after serving three years in 1969 with the rank of Speedy4 (E-4). I was making $240/mo I think and could barely afford gas for my old beater and here you are complaining about your $55,000 2016 LTZ Z71! Wow! Times have sure changed! Not being critical. I think you guys earn every cent you're paid. I'm just amazed, that's all! Good luck on your deployment!

I'd figures GM is not owning up to the issues I am having. So I would share it with people. I have had 3 attempts on fixing my truck at the dealer sent a certified letter to GM giving them there final opportunity to repair my truck. The service guy emailed me saying I quote "GM not saying my truck was smooth but it drive like it should for the year make and model". Easy to say seeing how a lot of them have this issue. This is how I am sharing. I got 3 inch gold letters and numbers from Staples and I put on my back window. " I BOUGHT A NEW 2015 CHEVY SHAKE LEAMON". I also put on my side back windows "2015 LEMON". I am very disappointed that GM has not owned up to this.

So because he serves his country for a living, and thank you also for your service, he shouldn't be allowed to "complain" about his pos truck ? So where exactly do you suggest he should go to voice his displeasure with the $55,000 truck ?

Test drove a couple Rams today... Would have bought one but I'm too upside down in my lease to even remotely make it work. This is a really depressing situation...

I got that same response when I contacted GM about mine. I sent them a certified Final Repair/ Demand Letter yesterday, It will arrive to their attorneys office in 2-3 days. from there they have 7 days to fix it or it goes to arbitration. I added a couple extra shots citing how GM is committing fraud and stuff like. Hopefully they get the message that I'm not f*cking around with them.

 

On a side note, I may be working on a project with some other people, and a couple of Engineering Professors to reverse engineer these trucks and find the source.

Well, C6Bill, you read way more into my post than I put in it. I did not state nor infer that he shouldn't be allowed to complain. Actually, I was merely jesting with him about being able to afford a 2016 LTZ on a soldiers pay. But heck, maybe he's a Bird Colonel, trust fund baby, married well, who knows. None of my business for sure but on the other hand I do enjoy exercising my 1st Amendment rights, politically correct or not. How about them apples, lol :)

I hope this all blows up in there face. I may go and park my truck at a Chevy dealership this Saturday or Sunday. So people going to look at these trucks can read my back window on the way in to the dealership. And maybe they will second guess there thoughts on buying a Chevy. I drive in to Boston Monday thru Friday I am in the traffic in the morning and at night. There's a lot of people in traffic that will read that my truck is a lemon.

Read through the thread. Just started having hard vibrations at 70+ mph. 31k miles. I have 285/65/18 AT tires so there was already the slightest vibration, so I know there's an issue since I really felt it. Coffee cup was bouncing all over the place.

 

So I have a couple questions: . I think I'm gonna try torquing down the u-bolts first. I have torque sticks for my impact gun so it should be easy.

I drive on really really rough terrain for my job, so I question whether spring clamps and hardware would really hold up over time, especially with western pa winters and all the salt used. Anyone have an opinion on this?

 

Honestly this is GM's last chance with me in the 1/2 ton market. My 09 was a problem..tranny went at 36k and burnt oil so I dumped it. We'll see how this '14 holds up (I've had some issues. Nothing bad until the vibration). if not I'll be going to the 3/4 ton route. I dislike the ford and ram 1/2 tons so I'd stay with GM since they're 3/4 tons are absolutely fine

Posted this on another thread with no response. Also truck is at another dealer today. So we I'll see what happens.

 

So the truck still vibrates/shakes after replacing the tire for the second time. Service Dept at purchasing dealer essentially told me that pico scope was normal and they cannot duplicate as they do not have interstate access truck (vibrates at 70+). Essentially told me to take it to another dealer. Will I run into issues taking it to another dealer since a warranty claim has already been opened. My truck only has 9200 miles and in my opinion shouldn't be doing this. The other thing is I just don't want a bunch of parts thrown at it. From my research of following vibration threads any buyback or action taken is with purchasing dealer. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

What dealer in Pittsburgh did you buy it from?
