I think that's what the majority of people settle for and don't go through the whole process.

legally with a buyback its GM doing it voluntarily so they can decide what they want to do. if you wanted out, they could make it take longer and force you to go through lemon law and risk losing outright. they offer the buyback and replacement, and generally thats that.

It's my observation that the more one reads this thread the more ones truck vibrates and shakes.. Personally, I think the administrator should pull this thread as it has long ago ceased to provide any constructive new information. It's become one of those circular discussions - verbal masturbation is the term I believe....

I'm leaving it up so new owners or people shopping for a new truck can be made aware that there is a CHANCE a truck could vibrate or shake, I know I prefer as much possible info on an item before a big purchase

Those of us with MULTIPLE vibrators come here hoping that someone out there one day comes up with a fix. A cure for cancer will happen before a fix for these trucks happens.

I have a 2015 Silverado V6-----It`s not the tires, rims, pinion angle, drive shaft, rear end, front end, shocks, etc...... It`s in the power train, period! Open your hood, (took me awhile to finally look under the hood too) with your truck in park, motor running. You can see the whole motor, trans, vibrates! I videoed it, and its bad. When it started vibrating while at a stop light, that's when I decided to open the hood. One person on here I think nailed the problem, Brandon1282/ After completing all tests found that TCM could not be 'pulse-width' tested, only command on or off. With these measurements we determined that the TCM was sending an erratic signal causing the torque converter to be commanded erratically. This caused potential damage to torque converter. Therefore, I replaced the TCM (Signal) and torque converter (damaged internally). Road tested vehicle; now operating to GM specifications with no vibration when tested under the original conditions.

​​I knew it wasn't tires or rims when it first started a week after I bought it. Tach is not steady, same vibration, but harder when it down shifts when slowing down.

No power train should be vibrating like this, especially in park at idle. No way to post the video on here, or I would.

 

Already gave GM there last chance to own up to the problem, tech said everything all the others said on here, it`s up to specs. the dishonesty is apparent from GM tech, the dealer techs, the owner of the dealership, and of course the all trust worthy salesperson. Not!

The first test drive the head service tech admitted it was the power train on the test drive, and pointed out it was the torque converter. also said the transmission is to big for this engine, and that the V8`s don`t vibrate as bad. Wow! But when you get them back to the dealership, mums the word. They blamed it on the tires. second time they kept it for 15 days, even put a new rim on, and tire. The loaner was exactly like mine, except it was a 2016 with a 5.3 V8. It vibrated too with the same whining sound from the trans area. Third time road with a tech who claimed he fixed it by road force balancing the tires, no it`s not the tires I told him, and he explained on the ride along with me that mine was one that didn't have it as bad as others he has ridden in. But back at the dealership, it`s up to specs and there is nothing more they can do. Amazing! Oh and the loaner they had for me the third time, was a $50.000 crew cab 2016 5.3 V8. Same vibration in it as well. sad!

 

Luckily our lemon law here is pretty strict and supports the consumer, final demand replace and/or refund letter is coming your way GM

Have been buying GM vehicles all my life, have 3 now. 1972 Custom 10 Reg Cab long box, 2011 Equinox, 2015 Silverado reg cab long box, I call the vibrator! Our 72 C-10 which has been in the family since 1974, makes the new truck seam like a fictional GM product.

 

Disgusting dishonesty being displayed by GM, and it`s dealerships!

 

P.S. They first claimed that it`s a characteristic of all the trucks, lol! That needs to be on the window sticker then, because I`m not going to purchase a brand new truck that vibrates!

The whining noise is not coming from the trans, it is coming from the new 2 stage vane style oil pump on the engine. The pumps make a whining noise that carries down the pickup tube to the bottom of the oil pan making it sound like its the trans when listening under the truck.

For those of you trading your vibrating trucks in, why not go through the buy back process and not lose thousands during a trade?

Perhaps because they no longer want to deal with GM anymore with all the hoops people have to take. Just dump it, take the loss and carry on with another manufacturer. If I had the cash and was not buried in my truck, I would take this route as well. Who wants to deal with the hassle?

Most BuyBacks have to stay with a new GM

I don't agree. If you are firm and want a cash buy back you can get it. Worst case tell them that you are going to open a BBB Auto Line complaint and then you have the option in arbitration. Maybe not true in all states but most. Check your state Lemon Law. I was offered a replacement (GM Speak), refused and got a cash offer. Refused the cash offer and opted for a replacement but a 2016 vs the 2015 originally offered. I was close to model change over so got my 2016.

No, has nothing to do with listening under the truck, this whining noise is while driving down the road and foot off the accelerator, or at steady speeds. And can be heard from inside the cab. I don`t need anything explained to me. As far as I`m concerned, any attempted to differ from the facts I`ve stated, Just gives more reason for GM to ignore it`s consumers!

I can hear mine from in the cab while driving also if the radio is off, if you take a stethoscope to the trans you will find that the noise is not in the trans and then take the scope and listen on the oil pan and follow it to the timing cover it will get louder. I have already did this because I had the same concern you do with the noise. So yes maybe you do need stuff explained to you unless you are the all mighty know it all.

Nobody wants to deal with the hassle, but I'll be damned if I'm taking a loss on my truck. Per FL Lemon Law my truck qualifies not only by the 30 cumulative days, but also the 4th and final repair letter was sent and is now complete. It has taken a while, but if GM does not offer to repurchase I will go through BBB Arbitration and I'm almost certain per FL law GM will have to repurchase my truck. The consumer has the right to chose repurchase or replacement (at least in FL).

GM response, not a safety problem, no recall - yeah but your product has a serious defect. it vibrates and shakes. For them to say that it is not safety related by default tells me they know the root cause. If the vibration was due to ball joints / tie rods / hubs and studs, those are safety related. They know, they won't tell, they won't fix ... someone has done the risk / profit / fix calucation and the customer has come up a loser. All we need is Goodyear, Firestone, Michelin, and Firestone to give GM the middle finger and say "Our tires are fine, fix your truck". Think how much money those poor suckers are losing with multiple tire swaps back and forth. There has to be some negative publicity that GM dealers are pushing to the tire dealers... "oh no, the tire has a road force number of 30, it sucks, these (name manufacturer) tires suck"... Road Force of 30 works on every other vehicle just not a 2014 Silverado

I have the slight shake in the cup holder area of my console. I do not feel the vibration in the steering wheel, headrests, dash, etc. It isn't too bad, sort of annoying when the little cap ring on the water bottle starts rattling, but I really do not notice the vibration any more than that. Mine has this same vibration at all speeds over 20 mph and therefore does not seem to be related to vehicle speed. Today I decided to test the water bottle in other areas of the truck. I set it on the transmission tunnel right in front of the console/middle seat and low and behold the water in the bottle was steady. Anyone else try this and were your results the same?

Well, I picked up my truck today from the GM dealer after they put on new tires, and balanced the wheels. Guess what? No more shake! Now I have only put 35 highway miles on the truck on the way home from the dealer. Those 35 miles were vibration free. I am curious to see how this fix hold up as I put more miles on the truck. At least for now I can drive it on the highway.
