Took truck into dealer at 400 miles or so to address the acute vibration. Several days later, dealer calls to say it is ready to pick up. Service ticked said they replaced all FOUR tires and Road Forced Balanced.

Took truck home, truck did drive much smoother but over a period of a week or so, It clearly was vibrating and getting worse. It was at this point I had some correspondence with GM Rep. They indicated they would call my dealer on my behalf. Dropped off my truck and had a "suspension" Service Writer look at it. I insisted he drive it and sure enough, agreed it was still vibrating excessively. They gave me a new 16 CC with 5.3 as a loaner. Truck was smooth compared to mine. Next day they call me to say truck is ready to pick up. I asked what they found? "Had to RFB tire" I said " something along the words as if they were kidding right"? My regular Service Writer is not real customer friendly to say the least. The Suspension guy was a good guy who I actually thought cared?

Get to dealer and inquired again to what they found" My original stand offish Writer said it was the tire and put the Service Ticketing front of me and said " here, read this" Ticket said they did RFB and Pico'd before and after RFB and now they claim it is within in GM Spec.

So, I leave the dealer sucking my thumb wondering what the heck just happened here? I will say, truck vibrates much less than when I dropped off at dealer. Still scratching my head" hmm, so it was the tires all along? It took 5 new tires to fix". Is this possible? At this point, I do not know. I thought to myself I would just drive it for a few more weeks since I am on Spring Break w/o truck.

I get a call a day or so later from the GM Rep. I had spoke with earlier. She wanted to know if Dealer was able to fix it to my satisfaction, I told her truck felt good, but wanted to put some more miles on it just to be sure it does not vibrate excessively again. She agreed and asked me to get a hold of her a few weeks from now with my thoughts?

I felt a bit comforted that GM actually reached out to me. I think they do care.I am happy with GM for this.

So , wish me luck fellow vibrator's. I am pessimisticly optimistic the truck will be okay.

Will update in a few weeks.

Good luck I really hope this lasts for you but its seems most vibration fixes are temporary.

We hear it over and over. RF balance, replace the tires, repeat.... The fact that having to RF balance a tire to begin with means the tire is probably not good for a GM truck if you want to drive on the freeway. Ever wonder what happens to a tire that fails GMs RF spec? Gets installed on an older GM or a competitors truck with no problems. That highlight anything? I damned a set of Firestones that were junk on my truck. They ended up being installed on a 2010 Silverado and they were just fine. The only hope we have is somebody ends up making the perfect tire. Been some good comments around Michelin. I know this winter my Michelin snows were great until the weather warmed up. Now I'm the guy in the right lane on the 401 getting passed by Fords and such because the vibration is back. I hope the 22" Bridgestones will be ok when re-installed but if memory serves when they were taken off last November... probably not.

Hey guys. Wanted to jump in this thread as I'm not sure I'm experiencing the vibration or noise this thread talks about so I'll give u a rundown on what I've felt. My normal driving conditions are on main and back roads of may 50 or less mph. Thru the week I hit the highway for about only 4 miles and I usually keep her under 70. At that speed I sometimes can hear a him come and go. Well today I had taken a 1 1/2 trip with speeds going close to 85 as traffic was humming along. This is the first time I noticed at 75 + a large rumble, hum coming from the truck. Also what felt like the truck surging or searching and this may be due to the very hilly hiway. The rumble or hum I can't place. I don't think the tires meaning balance wise as I've had vehicles with tires needing a balancing and it is a different feel. Not the rumble I get. The rumble kinda sounds like but isn't as loud as say rumble strips but minus the harsh vibration. My fuel level is all over the place and with it being full half or empty at less that 70 its barely notices me but today I filled up and only noticed the vibration, rumble, whatever on the 1 1/2 drive home. Check under the truck when I got home thinking front axles or something loose but nothing. Also trans temps were at 194 exiting the hiway

So what did you get ? I went Tundra and a friend went Ford, we are both extremely happy we made the move. [/quote

We traded it in with ~15k miles they gave us $38,900 and we got a fully loaded AWD Traverse...performance was less than stellar but ride and interior were nice and it seated 7..which was nice. With two kids and two 90lb labs..

I paid right around 44k for the truck... so i. Couldnt pass up almost 39k..plus my sanity..which was invaluable..

I'm not sure they could be worth less than they are today. Go to another dealership, pick any of the competition dealerships, and see how they react when you tell them you want to trade in a GM.

Yet some people will tell you it is an extremely small percentage of trucks affected.

If that was true then why would you get that reaction from a Toyota, Dodge or Ford dealer ? And you will get the reaction.

And how come nobody could answer when I asked how my "sensitivity to vibration" magically vanished on my way home from the Toyota dealership ???? And I am not the only one to experience this phenomenon.

Try it, drive to the competition and drive out in one of their vehicles and your "sensitivity to vibration" just might vanish too.

Just like your money did when you bought a GM truck LOL

I've had that reaction at every dealer I've gone to

But will it make a difference. I doubt GM will acknowledge there's a problem and we could end up the with trucks worth less than they already are.

The prices are already shot... at this point, it doesn't matter

A used GM truck that your are trading in is worth no different than a ford or dodge or equal value when new. Any dealership is going to give you a crappy offer for your trade in unless you are way overpaying for the new truck you are trying to buy. As mentioned dozens of times already, those of us with vibe problems (including myself) account for maybe 1 to 3 % of the 2014+ trucks out there. The biggest thing that hurts the value of GM trucks is the massive rebates they offer to move them. When you can get a truck for 25% off MSRP what do you expect when you trade it in, what you paid for it?

I've been doing a little shopping and it is interesting the rebates GM advertises. Mostly smoke and mirrors IMHO. Give the truck a fancy name with $10000 value in accessories and a cash discount. I'm not finding any 25% discount here but overall GMs are a bit less money.

I was curious about the reasons behind incentives which ultimately is sales so I had a look at YTD Canadian sales stats. GM (Sierra Silverado combined) are in 3rd trailing 2nd place Ram. Wow could it be that the Canadian consumer is finally sick of GM. The only news releases here in Canada from GM is scare tactics around closing Oshawa. Or is it that the word is out that these trucks are 3rd rate. I know at my work place I own the only new GM truck. Most other new trucks are Ford. I was surprised that word there has got around about the problems my truck has had. I guess they noticed that all I drove was a loaner vehicle and it didn't help when the rear window exploded in the parking lot when I opened the door.

Anyway I hope the heck I don't end up trading so soon, but so far the lemon hasn't been co-operating.

I'm sorry, but that statement is just flat wrong. While GM does give huge rebates, which I will agree does lower the trade value in the end, the offers that competitive dealers are offering BECAUSE OF THIS VIBRATION are insanely low. I've even had dealers admit that the Vibration Problem is hurting the value. The premise that that our values would be this low to begin with it utter bull sh*t.

You can see my previous posts about the value where I cite what KBB, NADA, Autotrader etc. say they are worth without my accessories vs. what I've been getting offered.

I recently went to the east coast for a business trip and visited several dealers in my off time. I mentioned that my truck was in the shop on the west coast for transmission replacement, vibration concerns, tires replaced and road force checked. The salesman did not have an reason to be less than truthful since I was clearly not in the market to buy.

I spoke with 4 different salesman in a historically truck centric and lift friendly location. All of them acknowledged the vibration problems in the new trucks and stated that the service departments have started checking and applying the simpler fixes before the pre-delivery checks are completed and the truck is put on the lot for sale. One dealer stated that three vehicles had been returned to GM for further inspection over the past year. I am not sure how this process works.

Pro-active dealer. Imagine if they all did this. Might be a few less posts here.
