Actually I don't own either of them any longer, these are the new rides

I have a 14 Silverado 4x4 1500 w/20" wheels. Vibration feels the worst at 65 till 72mph.

I have complained about it since new. They have balanced and rotated at every service. They have road force balanced also.

at 21,000 they replaced 3 of the tires. Same issue took back they replaced 2 of the 3 they had just put on. Before they called me they replace one of the 2 they just put on.???? maybe it's not the tires.

They ran it with a Peeko meter? I was told it's within specs. I call Bulls t! They had me come in after I told them that the 2, 16 models that they loaned me were not like mine.

They took the 18" tires and wheels off the loaner and put them on mine. I drove it with the tech. It was still there. Maybe not as bad but didn't come in till 80-85mph on the dash. They told me they would not do anything else to it. that speed is above any posted speed limit therefore GM was out!. I tried to explain that smaller wheel and smaller tire caused speedo calibration to be off, therefore to duplicate the same condition it would show faster than it was going. They argued that and said that they would not do anything else to it. What can I do? I suggested a different brand tire, driveshaft or shocks. I have seen posts on here from Jennifer at GM. who do I call.

I bought and have had it serviced at Jim Trenary Chevrolet in OFallon, MO.

It should be better with a $50,000.00 price tag

Your dealer is wrong. There are several states that have 80 MPH speed limits. Idaho, Utah maybe Wyoming and Texas. They are just looking for an excuse but at least you can make them find another!!!

So if my problem is that I am super sensitive to vibration did I just happen to find a cure on my way to the Toyota dealer ?

Funny I switched the other way. The Tundra is a nice truck but it's more "car like" in many ways. Engine and drivetrain are pretty much unchanged since 2007. Snappy acceleration but no torque for towing and a bias to run lots of R's that kill fuel economy. Toyota does a lot of things right but don't have the truck part figured out yet and they do very few rolling changes unless safety related. My "16" GMC handles better, is faster, quieter more advanced electronics and torque approaching that of older diesels. And bigger motor better fuel economy.

But quality control the T wins hands down. My Tundra and my Lexus didn't need many dealer appointments so it's a crappy trade off!

I really did like that 6.2 with Borla exhaust combination. And yes, the 3.92's do hurt the gas mileage of the Tundra and the electronics are a good 5 years behind the times, but the bluetooth streaming works great. And I really like the blind spot and cross path monitoring, I couldn't get either of those on the Chevy. And there is the whole not vibrating part, i really wish GM could have delivered a truck, to me, that didn't vibrate. I gave them 3 changes to do so and they couldn't, But Toyota did on the first try.

 

But the world is full of trade off's, or in this case trade in's lol

Service manager called. Said to come pick out a new truck. He received a email stating that this morning. Also said after I decided on a truck the numbers would be worked out. Not getting to excited about anything yet. Hopefully we're talking Msrp for Msrp. Nobody could answer that for me. If not, I have no choice but to go lemon law. Got mine for 25% off and I went over budget. Msrp was $51k paid $41,500 out the door..want the exact same truck if I go this route. That was the whole point of buying it in the first place (my dream truck) was the deal! Salesman is looking for one as we speak. Update soon..

Actually, there's a 41 mile stretch (hwy 130) around Austin that has 85 mph speed limit. Seems to be working ok. I've driven it once but was towing my 25' TT so wasn't driving anywhere near the speed limit :)

GM would not do that for me. I jst went to the dealer and got all my prints out of all my service visits. I have a freaking book with the print outs.

 

Im just tired of GM I wish I never bought this truck. I really regret it.

It does feel strange to be driving that fast legally (I lived in Austin).

I doubt you will get an even trade, Gm will factor in the miles you have put on your truck...

 

Only have 1688 miles on it.. Approx 530 miles of that from service..find out tues..

Update to my previous post. My dealer has replaced the ring and pinion in my truck which got rid of low speed whine. After driving it for a month I took it back for the vibration. They kept it a week and tried a few different things. One of those was to get a new GM tool for checking the pinion angle I'm thinking an angle finder. They ordered a shim kit and raised the pinion which I am glad to say has fixed my vibration. I drove the truck for a week before commenting to make sure it was fixed. I have taken it out and hammered the crap out of it. Driven it to 95 mph, no vibration. I recall reading in this thread somewhere a gm mechanic stating something about the shims.

Was the axle housing shimmed up by placing the shims between the housing mount and block to tilt the housing up to give the pinion the proper angle. This ran through my mine a long time ago. The mounts on the axle housing could be welded on alittle off on the trucks that have the vibrations. Some people have said there vibration was lessened when weight was added to the rear which changes the pinion angle. Just my thoughts.
