Not anymore-GM takes all buy backs and replacement vehicles to a central location where they are auctioned with full disclosure and probably as is no warranty. In 2014 they were letting the dealer sell them and then had to buy some of them back again. What they do in some cases is offer trade assist so that GM is not involved in the transaction and then the dealer does sell the vehicle like any other used...doubt many disclose. With a buy back or replacement the selling dealer does the paperwork and inspects the vehicle for damage (and is reimbursed a few $'s). Then they ship to GM. Just went through this last December.

How do you know this? Where is the auction held?

Info from GM rep that handled my case and the Dealer. I just tossed all my notes with contact names but if you are interested call GM at 866-802-6625 - ask for the reacquired vehicle department. One name was Melissa I think she handles cash repurchases. They are very specialized...I actually dealt with 3 different people. One person up to buy back/ replacement approval by GM. Then a second person worked with me and dealer until my order was placed. Once she had the order # and she took it off of the dealers books. A Third person handled the closing transaction and provided the dealer with GM requirements, $'s to use on both vehicles. GM paid all transfer of title costs, no doc fee and as I recall they also gave the dealer $400 or $500 for their work-order new truck; set up and delivery new truck; thorough inspection of my trade and inside storage until shipped.

I didn't asked where the auctions are held.

An Economy Mode button should have been part of the design. The loaner Equinox I spent a lot of time driving, drove just as bad a my truck did when its button was pressed. To bad GM couldn't have included this 50 cent button in my $60k truck.

It can be a $ 0.50 button, but by the time GM installs it in a truck it will become a $ 350 "economy mode" package.

I'm not surprise they do this. Could you imagine the next customer reporting the same problem with no disclosure from GM about the buy back? A lawyer would have a field day in discovery if the second owner went down the lemon law road.

Got the truck back today with dealer provided upgraded wheels and tires w/ a new drive shaft too. It has been there since 01/27/2016 and today is 03/02/2016. Guess what?!?! NOTHING HAS CHANGED!!! Still vibrates. I sent my final attempt repair letter 02/29/2016 so I will not be taking it back to the dealer until GM responds with where they want to make this final attempt. However, the truck is going to sit until that time because I refuse to drive it because if GM has not been able to correct the problem, how can one deem it safe to drive?

Can you keep me posted on the result of your final letter, my truck is now back in the shop for the second time and if they give it back to me again unfixed I will also be sending my final attempt repair letter

Technically, it is the 80-20 rule or Pareto principle. I just pulled the reply data here and 80% of the 8,307 replies have been made by 23% (158 of 692) of those posting replies. Still, the same concept, don't get caught up in the number of posts on this thread. There are a few very dissatisfied owners, and they should be, that are having this issue.

Well, your data certainly supports Pareto's 80/20 rule; the vital few vs the trivial many. Actually, I'm quite familiar with Pareto, wish I had a dollar for every Pareto chart I've made over my 35 years in manufacturing and supply chain operations. In this instance I made an anecdotal estimate due to the high frequency of postings by a so very few that the ratio might be about 90/10. But, Mr. Pareto was right, as usual, lol! Btw, I'm also quite well steeped in SPC, TPM, Juran (do you know his left ear was about an inch higher than his right ear? Gives you an idea of how many sessions of his I sat through - watching him demonstrate his quincunx, lol). Can't neglect my Theory of Constraints training by Goldratt (The Goal) and Deming, in fact my operation made a run for the Deming award one year and almost won it. Even went through Taguchi Statistical Theory, sadly, this was a bit over my head but I muddled through. Anyway, it is what it is :)

Oh, almost forgot; want to close with a joke, pretty corny. There were three engineers kidnapped by some terrorists; one French, one Japanese, one American. After several days of captivity the leader of the terrorists came into their cell and stated "infidels, you will be executed tomorrow at sunrise. However, as a gesture of our good will, before we execute you, each will be granted a last wish". So, the Frenchman said; "I would like a nice meal of escargot and a bottle of wine". The Japanese guy said "before I'm executed I would like to watch some Quality Circle DVD's". Then, the American guy was asked, he stated "I would like to be executed immediately, watching one more Quality Circle DVD is more than I can bear!" Well, told you it was corny :)

They are dampers and lessen vibration due to exhaust resonance. Many automotive manufactures use them. BMW, Lexus, Ford, this picture is an obsolete version that Chrysler used. The intent is to add weight, therefore damping the vibration and/or vibrating the damper instead of the floorboard.

+1

GM added dampers to my exhaust and it helped. In addition to replacing tires and the whole rear axle. When I put my BFG K02s on (worst with 18lbs RF), the buffeting returned slightly. I had them remounted and replaced to 12lbs or better.

No more buffeting or vibrating!

Here are my personal numbers, and I am not some Ford/FCA slappy paid to go to message boards and bash other OEMs products.

I BBB'd my 2014 Silverado. It was replaced with the same 2015 Silverado. I test drove 12-13 Sierra and Silverado trucks before selecting one...ALL of them vibrated.

I just got a check for $37k from GM. I bought a competing truck with that $37k (not even going to mention the brand).

Finally, I have 2 friends that I have helped get started with their BBB cases against GM...think about how many people out there that have this same problem and either deal with it, or don't know what to do to get it resolved. It takes quite a lot of work to go through the BBB process...let alone understand how to even get started.

This problem is on WAY more than 10-20% of these trucks. I know because I have driven 14 of them myself and they ALL vibrated.

Start a BBB case, save all service documentation, follow the steps and force GM to buy the truck back from you if you are unhappy. This is your only way out.

Either your are super sensitive to vibrations or you are making this up. Out of the nearly 100 people I have asked about vibe problems in the last 1.5 years they have all said their trucks are smooth. I am the only one out of nearly a hundred so that is 1% in my case. My company also has three 2015 silverados and they are very smooth at 70+ mph.

I agree that some people in this thread are very sensitive to vibrations. Hell I was to when I was reading this thread and then going out and driving my truck. However, I went out and drove the same road in my wife's 2015 Lexus, guess what, I get the same vibes as in my truck. It might be more of a mental thing.

My console does shake from time to time however I don't consider it a issue because I can't even feel it nor does it bother me in anyway. The only reason I notice it is from reading about it hear.

Not sure of your point...don't think I accused you of such.

Common core math?
