Shake or Vibration Issues

So after having my truck back and finally driving it around I ended up finding a couple more issues!

Yes it still vibrates!!!

When I took a friend( 30yr mechanic ) for a ride to show him the vibration ( he couldn't believe it ) we both heard a very annoying ticking sound coming from the back. About 5mins later we found it was coming from the headliner. Only stops when you push hard on it.

 

When stopped while in gear there's a skip in the idle. You can see it in rpm and the whole truck shakes.

 

Drove it at night for the first time Wednesday and wow do the headlights suck. Looks like time to read the headlight forum.

 

And here's my favorite!

Opened passenger door and reached over and started truck so I could move seat to vacuum. Put the radio on. When done, reached over and shut off, pulled key out, radio was still going. Didn't think anything of it. Closed door and as I walked back toward my house. While walking I hit the lock on remote twice and heard the beep.( assumed it would shut the radio off) 10 minutes later my wife said, do hear music? Went outside, sure enough the radio was still playing in the locked, keyless and shut off truck.

 

I was planning on doing lemon law Monday but have decided to bring it back in and see if they can fix these things along with the vibration, at the same time building my case even more. My attorney agreed the more documentation the better..as long as I keep getting a rental it's only costing me time. It's costing GM a lot more then that.. Keep posting as needed..

I bought a new 15 sierra 5.3 rcsb 4x4 at xmas and only got a chance to drive it 200 miles but it has no vibration. But I can tell these new fully boxed frames are very rigid and don't flex. Something tells me because of the nature of fully boxed frames all road , tire , drivetrain vibrations and harmonics are going to be transmitted to cab. This might be a crazy thought and probably is but maybe cab mount material will have to be rethought to cancel and absorb these harmonics better . Just a unscientific thought at best LOL.

Does changing to aftermarket wheels help?

Does it happen with the smaller 18" wheels?

Does it happen on both 4x4 and 2wd trucks?

Does it happen on all wheelbases - reg cab, DC, crew, crew long bed?

This one I think is normal. The radio will stay on for 15 minutes after turning off the truck unless the driver side door is opened. I don't think locking it makes a difference. All of my GM vehicles have done this in the past. Not to say the rest isn't weird, but this one I think is by design.

Why do you need to start the truck to move the seat, don't the seats move without the truck running?

FYI if one happens to go through the BBB and a repurchase is granted you can go after every penny invested in the vehicle. This includes wheels, lifts, tint, etc... It's part of the "collateral charges" you may be entitled to if the BBB finds that the vehicle is in fact a lemon.

Gm warrants the vehicle, not anything you do to it afterwards. If they are GM factory products, they you may have a case, otherwise you are likely out of luck.

the radio staying on, as mentioned is normal... unless the driver door is opened

From the previous cases in FL for "collateral charges" people have been reimbursed for wheels, tires, custom tool boxes fitted to the vehicles, tint and other things. There was actually a case where a Rolls Royce was determined to be a lemon and the customer recouped $8k back for his wheels. The BBB did not allow charge for the tires though. The manufacturer stated they were "oversized wheels" and should not be responsible, however, BBB determined the wheels were an appropriate charge. Im going to assume the customer got a lot of use out of the tires hence the charge not being allowed.

I can confirm this is a bug, didn't matter how many times I opened the doors (all of them) locked / unlocked the doors, only thing that turns it off at that point is turning the key forward and back off again. Its probably a firmware bug when all the other modules go to sleep besides the radio but something I can live with; I'd rather have this behavior over the battery draining faster.

I read through most of this. Has anyone determined the solution? Its NOT the tires.

 

Been in the closet on this issue because I lowered my 2014 sle crew cab 6ft bed using Mcgaughy's kit professionally installed and 22" replica wheels. I had the driveline raised to eliminate driveline vibration and all was good for a few months. Then the day I picked the truck up from scheduled service at my gmc dealer it vibrated from 65-75 in what felt like the rh rear.

 

Thinking the dealer rotated the tires, I went down the tire path. Yes, balancing, force balancing rotating, replacing tires and replacing wheel. Nada ladies. Its not tires or wheels.

 

So I thought I was stuck, no way the dealer was going to help resolve a vibration after I lowered the truck. Then I read this post.

 

Somewhere in the middle a member says it happened after he picked it up from the dealer and thought it was an update. Sounds familiar but other than that I have nothing.

 

I do have a cool looking gmc shake weight.
