What surprised me the most is even though it shifted very similar to mine the engine didn't have any issues with it being in the higher gear at low speeds, mine vibrates like a bugger. I also noticed that it wasn't in V4 very much and when it was it didn't shake the truck like mine does. I think mines in V4 more than V8 and my V4 mode is similar to a Jake Brake IMHO.

I cannot tell when my truck changed modes. There is no sound, no feeling its perfectly seamless.

I actually have spent many, many hours watching this. I like to try to make it stay in V4 mode when driving on long trips.

It is very hard for me to keep it in V4 mode. I assume it is the weight of my tires that makes it use V8 more.

If you can tell when it changes I would be looking for something wrong.

I can currently say I'm experiencing the same results.

Edit: Now that I have more time. I bought mine Dec 23rd. It's a 2015 Crew Cab LT All Star edition. The vibration has been very slight, and seems to come and go. Slight enough, that when I test drove it, I really thought it was just more road sensitive than the Canyon I had. After driving it more (after purchase), I started to realize it was more than that. I notice it more so when the temps are warmer, and less the colder it is. Happens at both the 40ish to 55ish and at about 75. I put the clamps on Sunday, roughly 8.5" to the u-bolt from the plate on top of the leaf spring, in front of the axle.

The rear definitely feels much smoother in all the driving I've done thus far. I don't feel the under the seat wobble that I was feeling. I can still feel something in the front end. Could be tires, could be suspension.... hard to say yet.

My guess right now it that the clamping of the spring is changing the drive shaft angle or something of the sort. I won't know for sure till I can get a chance to check it with a digital protractor, both with, and without the clamps.

Polarys, you put yours in front of the axle? How you have it worded was a little confusing. Thanks!

Nathan79,

Thanks for the tip. I'd maybe be a bit hesitant to install the Diablo chip; it seems to be a matter of opinion whether that voids the warranty, and I don't know enough about the computer "bugs" to take the chance. I will ask the dealer about it though, just to see what they say. I can probably guess.... The explanation of the problem they gave me was that it is variable pressure on the exhaust system that changes when the AFM is engaged. Makes sense, but more importantly they assured me that it will not harm the truck itself. What about comfort?

I do think that the local dealership is trying to solve the problem, although lets face it, if their hands are tied, they are tied.

I can say James at Chuck Olson in Shoreline, WA is great to work with, and if there is a fix one of these days, I am sure he will make sure I know about it.

Whether the engine mode override, the spring clamps at 5", 8", or other distance from the axle, or toolbox - weight in the bed work, I would bet GM is reading these posts.

All I know is I had a 2008 Silverado 1500 LT crew, standard box, and it was like driving a Cadillac. Then I drove a 2013 same configuration. Rattled at 70+, painful to drive. Took that back, got this 2015. It is considerably stiffer than the 2008. It did not need "fixing" but they seem to have done it anyway.

Maybe we should all go out any buy 2008's again. Who knows?

I'll let you guys know what James comes up with, if anything new.

If you find that the Diablo chip does work, please let us know. I'm sure it will help some on this thread.

You do keep saying that but there are many who will disagree, including me. Everybody I have asked say that they have some sort of vibration and every new style Silverado I have driven has the same issues to some degree. And I can say the same for the SUV's.

I didn't want to be the one to point that out again, thanks Bill lol

My local deal told me to have you call your dealer with your vin and see if you have the recall on the steering.

There is a known issue with some trucks that have a vibration in the steering wheel. I was told they can actually fix this issue.

Unless something has changed in the last month or so, that fix is only for the 2500, 3500 series trucks. I asked the service writer at my dealer when I went in for my free oil change, and he said that that fix isn't offered for the 1500 line

Sometimes I can tell with mine, other times I can't... no idea why

Man I hope the spring clamp is the solution. I makes sense if torque is throwing drive line angles off, that the extra spring could be keeping things true thus keeping the vibration away.

Today I had an opportunity to drive another truck to see if it had any vibrations. Its was 2015 Silverado Z71 CC.. very nice truck. No vibration at all... so they actually do exist :driving: .

It was very nice of the guy to let me drive his truck and maybe if this vibration gets sorted, the poor shifting and AFM might not matter anymore..... lets hope.

C6Bill would not agree that you drove one without vibration, you have to be making it up.

LOL.. I really couldn't believe it myself, maybe it was the weather.

Just to be a smart *ss, maybe he is so used to the vibration now, this one was so minimal he didn't notice it was really there

I was being a smart *ss too and I apologize. I still hope a fix can be found because I too suffer from the 70+ vibes but I seriously doubt there will be. I also can not understand how some on this thread swear every truck they drive vibrates and every one they talk to who own one have the same problem while others (including myself) who has talked to numerous owners and drove other trucks find no evidence of the vibration being a widespread problem. Very strange.

Road surfaces and/or speed limits in your area?

I never saw temps effect mine.

Temperature effects everything where I live ha ha. The roads all heave up and it's like running over constant rail road tracks all they way in. At least they settle back down in the summer.

Heck my garage moves up almost two inches in the winter.

Speed limits are 70mph on the interstates here and of course everybody drives 75mph. We now have three 2015 silverados in my companys fleet and those do not vibrate on the interstate (been in two of them and asked the driver of the 3rd one). I only drive my truck on the weekends and rarely on the interstate so the vibes do not effect me as much as others but I hope for solution but have my doubts. It is going to take a while to wear out the stockers but maybe when I move up to a bigger LT tire it may fix the problem but it could also make it worse so who knows.

No need to apologize, i thought it was funny. But it did get me thinking, no small task in itself ;) Everyone you talk to or every truck you have driven is in a warmer climate with what I can only guess is smoother roads. While everyone I would talk to or truck I have driven is on roads that have been through many many harsh New England winters. Maybe the colder climate and road conditions make the issue more apparent up north ??? Who knows, but I know that I'm just here for the same reason everyone else is. We are all just looking for a fix. Even those of us who have opted out of the madness and bought a different brand. I'm still here just rooting for everyone to get their trucks fixed.

Going to go to a Ram and a Toyota dealer on Friday and try to pit them against one another :P
