Guess so far, knock on wood, I'm one of the lucky ones that hasn't had this problem with my 2015 CC 6.2 LTZ. Just an observation; I've noticed that there hasn't been any comments concerning the truck bed either way about perhaps being a contributor to the vibration problem(s). I have a dealer installed spray-in liner. And, supposedly, it dampen's noise and such. It might be interesting to know whether those trucks with vibration problems have spray-in liners or not. Just noodling.....

My truck has a spray in liner and it vibrates.

From what I gather it almost seems like the more weight in the bed the worse if you have the vibration.

How many miles do you have on your truck?

and what size bed with the CC? the 6.5ft bed with a CC appears to NOT be mentioned often in this thread from my observation. at least for the 75 mph and up vibration.

 

just drive back to NJ from poconos and this time with a 225lbs passenger and 100lbs rear passenger (both sat on right side of truck, front and rear) maybe 30lbs of cargo in bed and gas less than 1/2 tank and at first on route 33 traveling at 75-80 was non existent then out of the blue maybe 15 minutes into ride it just started up and this time didn't change anywhere over 75 until 90 and change (down big hill no traffic and wanted to see IF it would go away).. i just don't get it... other times during the trip didn't matter new pavement, uphill downhill just comes and goes.

 

when i got home i was able to check my left rear wheel and the two marks are still in the same spot so that tire isn't slipping on rim, the others i couldn't find the darn mark on the ground i'll check tomorrow... I did notice that the right front wheel (which was the only one they changed weights on even though the repair order says ALL were rebalanced??) weights are all over the rim? like one 1/4oz inside then a foot or so another 1/4oz on the outside then a strip of over an ounce inside then another strip outside... what the heck is that? HAS TO BE INCORRECT. i've not noticed it since i brought it in on 12/31..

 

the repair order is in this thread but not on this computer so i cannot link it.

 

scratch that.. found it.. zoom in on it and read... i'll post a pic of the inside of the wheel they rebalanced i would love to hear from someone who specializes in road force balancing to let me know if the weights all over wheel signals a problem.

Ans to two questions.

Q1: I have about 13k miles on truck, bought truck Memorial weekend. Also, I've made three tows with my camper, 25' about 6,500lbs wet. Tow were about 900 (Big Bend), 460, 460 (deer lease twice) round trip each.

 

Q2: I have the short bed.

Truck caps? Mine has one and doesn't vibrate yet ~4k miles 2015 cc ltz

I was thinking that with some people bed covers or some other aerodynamic factors may come into play. I can see my soft bed cover flutter badly at certain speeds in the rearview mirror. I have had other trucks do it but this one on pretty extreme, its like a flag flapping in the wind. How much of that is transmitted into the cab who knows, maybe hard covers transfer more.

I have removed my soft tonneau and it was actually IF ANYTHING a little worse.. couldn't tell if when i pulled back onto the parkway if the pavement/elevation was the cause or the removal of the cover.. so there goes that theory..

 

the short bed with CC i believe is the same WB as the DC it 6.5ft bed like mine.. I will however return to the dealer now that the ride BACK (over 140 miles) disturbed me this much.. if need be i will have them road force balanced myself then call gm customer service if i am forced to pay $200 bucks or whatever. that will bother me.. especially if the wheels are PART of the issue (report showing what it actually was before vs after vs acceptable

I didnt say the cover caused it, maybe certain ones are better than others and its worse without a bed cover of some sort.

 

Its hard to believe so many different bed/cab/gear ratio/tire size etc trucks are doing the same thing and GM cant figure it out.

 

But anyhow, if you are working with a dealer to fix the issue and you take the truck to a tire store, pay to balance the tires and it fixes it they will usually reimburse you and just charge it to GM as outside labor. Not uncommon. But dont expect to come back a couple months down the road with the same problem if you claim that fixed it.

 

FWIW I had a '12 GS Corvette that steering wheel shook pretty bad at 50mph since new. After trying to rebalance the front tires the dealer swapped another set of front wheels/tires off another new C6 that 'didnt shake' and it still did it so they moved on from the bad tire/wheel theory. After a new steering rack, brake rotors and a couple alignments I said screw the dealer and took it to a local shop that does high end car wheels and tires. They road force balanced the two fronts and it didnt have a problem after that. The dealer/GM was more than happy to pay me the 100.00 and never hear from me again.

'15 w/5.8 SB, spray in liner and hard tonneau cover, 5.3 Z71 LTZ. Been shaking since day 1 at 72+

Tony, Road Force Matching is not balancing. No weights are used. They measure the Road Force Variation (RFV) and then measure the mechanical runout of the wheel. The computer then shows to spin the tire on the wheel to get the high RFV of the tire opposite to the min runout of the wheel, thereby obtaining the lowest possible RFV of he tire/wheel combination. The shop can go a step further and measure all 4 wheels and all 4 tires, then mix and match to get the lowest possible residual RFV of the set, but this is very time consuming and I doubt any dealerships are doing it because GM pays flat rate for all this work and I doubt they pay the 4 or so hours it would take to do a full 4 wheel RFV Force Matching as I've described.

 

After the RFV matching is done, then they do the dynamic weight balancing to take away the weight out of balance - at least that is what they should be doing. Although, I find it incredibly fancinating that the Hunter operating manual doesn't actually say to do that..... Makes me wonder. Hmmmm.

Sorry for the late response but I test drove the RAM on Friday and I can honestly say I did not like it at all. I know a lot of the other users on this forum switched from their GM to the RAM but its not for me. I does ride pretty soft due to the coil springs in all corners but its extremely loud inside and the interior felt cheap to me. Maybe it was just the particular truck I tested but it was so loud inside that at one point during the test drive I had to double check that my door was closed. You could also feel the engine vibrations in the floor during low RPMs which was annoying. Pricing was only a few thousand less than the F150 I drove but the F150 had a lot more options. Ill be heading back to the Ford dealer tomorrow to work out some numbers and hopefully say goodbye to my shaker. Take your time and test drive them all to see what you think.

Unless you are in a Ram Laramie the interiors are a not great. Really hasnt been updated in quite a while. SLT/Big Horn isnt bad but the Express trucks are horribly cheap inside. If it had the dual exhaust, I thnk all hemi trucks have them now, they are pretty loud inside. Some do complain of the gas pedal/floor vibrations but that never bothered me.

 

Nothing is perfect.
