FYI, my wife's Sonata drives a hell of a lot better then my GMC. I'm not wanting to not have a GM truck, there is nothing out there that compares to the 6.2 GM pick up when they are right. I'm just on the verge of tapping out, because I've now gotten 2 that aren't right and I've already gone through the 5 month hassle once. it is frustrating and stressful. Once a month I make a 500 mile round trip to see my only grandson and it amounts to 8 PO'ed hours behind the wheel. You drive with one hand until the fingers go numb then you switch to the other hand, about 45 minutes each. That's life with a vibrator. My local dealer was fantastic, I have no issues with them, they didn't build it. The dealers are also hung out to dry by GM on these trucks and can only test / check / change what GM allows.

I'm went through this with my Mustang and I know how it can be. The best decision I made with that car was to call a lemon law firm. I just hope people realize that with these trucks.

Just curious, was it the problem with the Chinese made manual transmission? That's one big reason why I will not own a manual transmission Mustang anything.

taking my one month old 1100 mi truck in to dealer at 730 to have them look at my vibration. i am getting it at a steady cruise only in between 70-80 or so. up through the seat cushion and it feels like an out of balance rear wheel (hopefully lol). i did notice that the left rear wheel has about 2oz on the inside and 2oz on the outside so hopefully it's just the tire!!!!!!!!

 

first real road trip i took with it was day before yesterday and the return trip (350mi). i through it in "m" dropped it to 5th even, still there.. even neutral but it remains ZERO CHANGE.. so either rotating assembly back of trans out or a tire/wheel... will post resolution either way by afternoon.

I lemoned it over other issues.

It would occasionally lock out on the 2-3 shift at high rpm. My clutch wouldn't return a couple times as well. Other than that it wasn't bad. Would definitely get an auto if you were gonna run boost though.

I agree with you on that. My dealer is also trying very, very hard but there seems to be no real fix. I know my dealer is working with GM tech support on my trucks issues so maybe there's hope.

I have owned many GM trucks and never until this one have had so many issues. I absolutely hate driving it right now due to the vibration and the terrible shifting. I am giving the dealer a chance to fix but what a long drawn out process. I have told them working as designed is not acceptable. My truck worked fine when I first purchased it. They have suggested the option of the replacement process but I'm undecided if it's worth taking the chance on another poorly designed vehicle that takes 2 months worth of driving before you know if its defective. Lets hope they find the fix.

To say it is sickening to read these posts is an understatement. I bought my first truck, a new 2015 Silverado 1500 LT Crew Cab Z71 and loved it for the first few hundred miles. I could not believe that a truck could handle so well and ride so smooth. Then I took it on the Interstate and noticed a serious vibration at 77-80mph. The center console was dancing a jig, so I figured the back tires must be out of round or not properly balanced. I had only 400-500 miles on the truck, so thought the tires may need breaking in. Today, with 1,400 miles on it, not only does the truck shake between 75-80, but also at random speeds lower than that. I thought I was going crazy. I dropped it off at the dealer on 12/28 and have not heard anything yet. I found this forum Monday evening and it feels like a bad dream. I have driven nothing but BMWs for the last 11years and am not familiar with vibrations like I am feeling with the truck. I am hopeful that the dealer can fix this, but very apprehensive. I will keep you all posted as to my progress. Fortunately Virginia has a Lemon Law and you can bet if the problem cannot be fixed, I will test it.

I have read through a bunch of posts on this thread and I have seen people already getting buy backs. But I have also seen about twice as many people saying they will live with it or in your case not worth getting a new truck. I've seen people trying to modify their trucks to get rid of the problems (this is stupid unless your are outside of the bumper to bumper). People need to hold GM accountable and make GM either fix the truck or buy back these lemons. Even if you get into another vibrator, your warranty will reset and you can go after GM again.

 

It just saddens me to see people that are accepting this steaming pile of crap that GM is feeding them. I just want to make sure people know their rights under the law and not be buffaloed by GM. I don't disagree with you at all, my truck is only two months old so warranty is no problem. Actually it is a lease but with the deal that I got and the good trade in that I received on my 2013 Sierra I don't know if I could get back what I need to get to get into another brand. If I do get a buy back do you think they would give me the extra cash that they paid me for my trade? Actually I would like to keep the truck if they only found out what is wrong and it got fixed. That is the only reason I have not started complaining yet. I am getting ready to make a trip to my dealer for other reasons and I am going to bring it up while I am there. My dealer so far over the past 3 1/2 years dealing with them have been great so hopefully that relationship will still keep going on. We will see.

i am happy to report that i went to Rick Hendrick Chevy here in Naples Florida after the selling dealer (not Hendrick) wasted my time with two failed attempts to address the vibration problem. Hendrick Chevy service manager greeted me and discussed the issues that he has seen in the past and they are exactly what is reported here. He gave me a new 2016 silverado loaner and sent me on my way. They road force balanced tires and asked my permission for a service advisor to drive my truck home that night due to his 30 minutes each way on the interstate to confirm the vibration was gone.

 

I am pleased to say the vibration from the tires is GONE. I do believe the Bridgestone tires are the harshest riding tires I have even owned but it is acceptable, I do understand I drive a truck not a luxury import, i expect some road transmit thru the frame now that its is boxed compared to my previous trucks. i agree i expect more from chevy but i am a loyal GM buyer and will never own a ford or dodge.

 

hopefully its over for me.... fingers crossed. but i feel i found a dealer who cares and has a plan to address any future problems I may have. Thanks Hendrick Chevrolet!!!

ok, just got back from the dealer after almost 2hours (not complaining they worked on it from almost the time i got there, just giving timelime) so here's what i was told and here's what i will say..

 

Service rep was a very nice man, attentive to my issue and advised me they would let me know if they figured it out.

 

about an hour and a half later, the service rep "Bill" informs me that all four wheels were out by a small fraction but one failed the roadforce (no numbers provided, i let that go for now as to not SOUND like a PITA). I went for a ride with a quality control guy and we drove for about 15 miles from the dealer, to the GSP Lacey Twp Rest area and returned. the road goes from terrible to glass smooth and the vibration in the seat bottom i could not detect at any speed. i was happy. The quality control guy advised me that the front right wheel/tire failed the roadforce. I found that odd because i FIGURED (because of my vast training and experience as i am a certified backyard mechanic with "A" designation lol) that it would be a rear wheel/tire due to the vibration in the floor/seat....

 

Anyway, truck road/drove well (even though at this point I, as i am sure many others on here get HYPERSENSITIVE once we have something repaired as intermittent and bothersome as this ESPECIALLY when you google it!!). I will report back after another trip in a few weeks, same trip as last time so same roads etc.. I am keeping my fingers crossed...

 

A couple notes..

 

A- the tech scratched my dam front right wheel... i guess that's just life.

 

B- the front right wheel has all new weights on it (only one with new rest are factory applied, i took notice before i brought it in)

 

C- Lester Glenn, whom I have dealt with forever once again addressed the issue quickly and I recommend them to anyone for service/sales. Unfortunately for me, i had to purchase my truck(specific dealer applied super bonus tag vin) from miller because this was one with $3k lease cash attached to it and they wouldn't trade it away.. so as loyal a customer as i am, $100/mo more i am not lol...

 

D-i was going to tip the tech $20 but i ended up giving it to the service guy because the tech just didn't take the extra couple minutes to wipe down all the greasy fingerprints on the wheels and outside door of my 1,100 mi 51k truck. oh well. If he splits it with the tech on him. I did not tell the service rep about the scratch or fingerprints, God Forbid i have to go back lol.

the infamous right front wheel/tire with DEALER applied weights and tech installed scar. there are weights all over inside of that wheel btw, different locations... that's just to show that dealer actually did replace factory weights.

left rear wheel center cap with nick on it since delivery (haven't bothered mentioning, just wanted to show as quality control is definitely part of the problem here imo.. why not just pop that cap off and replace before it leaves factory or dealer prep/tech inspection etc?? idk who is at fault, factory or dealer but regardless, subpar imo)

So this is the e-mail I sent:

You said to send a message about the vibrating chevy and here it is. I am a gm employee and have a 2015 Chevrolet WT with plow & towing package.Vin #1GCNKPEC4FZ250552 . The first time I took the truck on the highway the truck had 2400 miles on it. It shook so violent that my passenger was actually scared and asked what was wrong with the brand new truck. I brought it into o'neills chevrolet Avon Ct on 06-02-2015 ro76544 2465 miles. They road forced tires and replaced one and it did not fix the vibration.Brought it back 06-16-15 ro76985 2736 miles and swapped tires(all 4 ) off a non vibrating truck still did not fix the problem. Brought truck back in on 8-20-2015 4722 miles ro79072 put back original tires road forced and replaced one tire performed prop shaft measurements and adjusted with hose clamps.Vibrations still present. While road test with the pico scope was off the scale. I do have copies of the test. I recently put on my studded snow tires (seeing how I have a plow package this should be acceptable) which can not be road forced balance due to the studs and vibration still present. Problem number 2 is with the plow on I can not drive over 40mph with out the truck over heating. Per doc 4054428 the cure is not to drive over 40 mph. The min speed limit on the highway is 45MPH so you are saying either break the law or do not drive on the highway!!!

So the long and short is I have a truck I can not drive on the highway over 65 in good weather and can not drive on any roads with the posted speed limit over 40 mph.

Does your truck have plow prep package? If yes, heavy duty cooling including transmission oil cooler, and heavy duty alternator should be a part of that package. If it overheats, I would try lower temperature thermostat, e.g. 180 degrees.

Yeah something isn't right with the overheating thing. ... especially travelling down the road just driving. Unless somehow your rad is so ubstructed by the blade or the plow it should never overheat.... there is no load.

Just bought a 16' Sierra 1500 AT last week and only have 500 miles on it so far (got it at 6). I've been following this forum every since the redesign came out in 14'. I've defiantly noticed some shaking in the truck on certain roads, I am going to pay close attention to MPH and road conditions this weekend and see if I have this vibration disease going around. I live in San Diego so if anyone else on this forum is from SD and notice it on certain freeways (8, 94, 805, 5, 52, etc) let me know, I remember some shaking on the 52 especially but not on the 94. I'll report back later when I analyze this a bit further. My tire pressure is about 37 on all tires.

No better way to get my post numbers up than to "join the club". Bought a 2015 Silverado Crew Cab Z71 in September, 2015. I didn't take it out on the highway when I test drove it and personally think they didn't want me to because it was completely out of gas. I told the salesman and he said, "You have enough to get around town, right?" Well I was just going to pick up my wife from work and take her to lunch so I went with it (that will never happen again). This is my first GM as I have been a Ford man from the beginning and I've never had a problem but my dad has been a GM man so I thought I'd give it a chance. It drove like a Chevy should around town which has speeds around 45-50 mph so we bought it.

 

​That following weekend we had to go to a retirement party about 2 hrs away down the interstate. The second we got over 70 mph the truck violently shook. It was so bad it literally made us sick to our stomach. About an hour down the road I called the dealership and told them about the issue. They said if it was dangerous to go ahead and call roadside. I just slowed it down so it wasn't as bad and continued as I didn't want to miss the party.

 

I took it in the following week and they said my drivers front tire was out of balance. They balanced all the tires and sent me on my way. Got it on the interstate and it was back. Not as bad but very obvious.

 

Took it back and they said the drivers front tire was out of round (I keep reading that all over this forum but never heard of this issue since radial tires so either that's just an excuse GM keeps using or maybe there are tires that are issues) so they replaced that tire. Got it on the interstate and issue still there.

 

Took it back again and this time they changed the remaining three tires out. Got it on the interstate and the issue continued. I even called the Service Manager while I was driving and was telling him when I'd feel it and when it would go away. Uphill, downhill, acceleration, slowing down, V4, nothing mattered, it was still there. Service Manager said he couldn't do anything until I had 500 miles on the new tires so I drove it until I had over 500 miles and the vibration is still there. Have to admit I'm getting irritated at service and myself having to put miles on my truck because GM has an issue. My Ford was a 2009 (bought it in 2008) with only 60,000 miles because I have an issued work vehicle so I don't drive my personal vehicle a lot.

 

Took it back (after the 500 miles he wanted me to put on it) and he said all four tires were out of balance by 3 ounces each. After they rebalanced them he got it out on the highway and said he didn't feel the vibration anymore. I asked him if he got on the interstate so he could get over 70 and he said no, he only got it to 70 and didn't feel anything. Ok, what part of "over 70" do you not understand?? geesh!

 

I took it out on the interstate the following day and the vibration is still there. I called right away and the Service Manager said he'd have to do some research and he'd get back with me. After four days I drove down to the dealership and spoke with a General Manager (drove my work vehicle because I refuse to put more miles on my truck). General Manager talked to the Service Manager and said he'd call me back personally once they figured something out.

 

The following day I got a call from the General Manager and he said they recently bought an expensive machine that checks for vibration (I'm taking it this is the pico scope...correct me if I'm wrong). He said they didn't have it set up yet but it would be ready by this next Monday (January 4) and they would like me to drop it off all day January 5 so they can hook it up to the machine.

 

Our interstate is Turnpike so it's paid for and a very smooth blacktop. I drive it weekly for work in a 2014 Chevy Traverse and it is smooth as glass.

 

This is so frustrating as I have a $55,000 piece of metal sitting in my garage! I can't drive it because it's so irritating to drive and I don't want to put more miles on it if it comes down to the lemon law. Some of the posts I've read is guys have had GM purchase their vehicle back but they had to pay for the miles they used the vehicle. So it sits! I'll keep everyone up to date next week when I take it back for the 5th time...ugh!!!
