I am currently going through the BBB process and it requires a final attempt to repair. GM has one last chance. So after putting the 20" wheels back on there was some improvement. I took a GM regional rep out and she admitted there was a vibration. For the final fix attempt the GM Engineer recommends replacing the two rear shocks and installing two "special" rear tires that should road force balance at less than one pound. So after this truck has has had 18 different tires and 14 different wheels installed on it they think that 2 "special" tires and 2 new shocks will fix it. WOW. What the heck am I supposed to do when I need to rotate tires? If this doesn't fix it we will go to arbitration. This has been a very painful process. I just wish GM would admit the issue and get it fixed. They have ruined their reputation with me.

Received my truck back from the dealership today. They claimed a 2nd tire was now out of road-force balance at 26lbs this time. With having another tire bad within 15 miles of them saying it was ok previously makes me very suspect on their capability of getting this right.

 

They mentioned they drove this around as they should for 15-20 minutes after road force to warm up the tire and then road-force once more however they decided to stop trying to make this better once they hit the very high end acceptable limit at 15lbs. Vibration is not quite as bad in the steering wheel but the passenger side still shakes quite a bit and has developed a consistent creak / squeaking noise on top of the visible shaking. Ride quality is still a bit rough. When asking about rim run-out measurements and the road-force results they did not give me this information despite saying so in previous phone calls so I am stuck taking their word for it.

 

They said they ran a pico scope test on everything and even took off the rear end to inspect and measure the ring and pinion (.008in backlash no more than .001 variance). They did not provide the pico test results as they mentioned they would before running the tests so again I am just stuck having to take their word for it without being able to confirm again with hard evidence. Not surprised they purposely did not tell me this information as I would likely zone in on parts that are borderline and it would give me further detail and right to force them to continue analyzing what is wrong with my vehicle.

 

At any rate assuming they are being straight regarding the pico test results this puts the focus again on tires. I had asked multiple times if I could purchase an upgraded set of tires (not even asking for a trade in) but I keep getting reluctance and excuses like it will void my warranty or limit their ability to troubleshoot or replace tires as it is not the original tires sold with the vehicle which does not seem like a legitimate excuse to me. (what happens if I catch a nail and have to replace a tire....)

 

I just keep getting the impression or feeling they don't want to deal with it any longer and want me out the door. That's their decision I suppose and they shouldn't fault me on my decision to not want to consider their lot when purchasing my wife's next vehicle soon. Again they didn't sell me the truck but this is going to force me to potentially travel 4.5 hours to see about tire upgrades or give the selling dealer a chance to look at and correct this and get a needed second opinion.

 

Going to give the seller dealership a call tomorrow and see what help they can be. Since I am 85% sure the major culprit is tire and balancing related I am going to push for a tire upgrade and special order something that hasn't been sitting on the lot forever or even something that has been recycled from other vehicles potentially. Then if I notice vibration still I am going to take it to a shop in San Antonio I know of that does true balancing with the tires on the vehicle for optimum results.

 

Too much hassle for a new vehicle :banghead:

Have you tried Cavender Chevrolet in Boerne? Their service department has been great to me, especially after dealing with Ancira's steady stream of "operating as designed."

I picked up the truck after the "final repair" and the service manager claims it rides much better. I replied that I have been told that 6 times now and it still is not fixed. I also asked what am I supposed to do when I need to rotate tires? they had no reply other than "we will deal with that when the time comes". So I take it out again and there is absolutely no change. So now I am working with the BBB to get this into arbitration. Amazing how Chevy can't or won't fix this. I am sure they could fix this but choose not and make us customers go through this painful process. I will let you all now how things end up.

Thank you for the recommendation. I am in the Corpus Christi area but the drive would be well worth having this issue resolved and would save me from a Houston trip (the greater evil).

 

Even further affirmation that this is likely a tire/rim related issue (image below). They marked the tire placement in yellow and I have had that much slippage under 50 miles of driving (looks about 2 inches). The vibration continues to move around every time they replace and re-balance tires and becomes more pronounced in different speeds and at different parts of the truck that continues to make me think (or at least hope) its just tires/rims.

I would assume a dealer would give me some type of credit for the tire and continue to cover this under warranty despite what the last dealer I went to was telling me. Once I get that established that if I change tires its still covered I'm going to try swapping them and then have them professionally balanced at a shop in San Antonio that many members have recommended.

However this makes me cringe reading this again. 18 tires....14 wheels...this does not bode well. This whole process is making my hair turn grey early.

Well long story short, Chevy still hadn't bothered to pickup the order I placed in September for a 2016 to replace my 2014. So now I need to go signup for a Tundra forum lol

 

The general manager of the Chevy dealer called a friend at a Toyota dealership and they cut a deal to get me a 2016 Platinum Edition Tundra. The Chevy dealer told them they would bank the trade in so instead of the Chevy dealer just cutting me a check I was able to trade it in at Toyota so I got the break on sales tax. I still took the normal 2 year depreciation on the truck but i was ok with that as I just wanted this over with. It was nice driving home without wondering what speed or bump with start it vibrating.

 

But the good news is that now that I have gotten out of my Chevy they should be rolling out a fix any day now lol

I got lucky and got rid of my Viberado after only the hair on my chin turned grey .

It was just starting to get my mustache

Well long story short, Chevy still hadn't bothered to pickup the order I placed in September for a 2016 to replace my 2014. So now I need to go signup for a Tundra forum lol

 

The general manager of the Chevy dealer called a friend at a Toyota dealership and they cut a deal to get me a 2016 Platinum Edition Tundra. Yea Bill,I thought the same thing last Summer when i traded my beautiful shaker for a used Tahoe LTZ that runs and drives like a dream.Yet i'm still reading about the same and new people dealing with the same problems i did. It's a dam shame,these are the best looking trucks out right now,the the shaking was a deal breaker.

I love it, nice smooth ride and plenty of power. And really comfortable seats. Only took seconds to pair two phones and download contacts into the system. And the garage door opener programed so easy it was almost funny. Two thing it doesn't have are heated steering wheel and remote start, I'll add remote start next week while they are doing the venture shield and running boards. And i love the sliding rear window, the entire window goes down.

After the first two sets of tires, I purchased a set of wheels and tires out of pocket (non GM wheels with stock size Nitto's) with the hope that this would resolve the issue. No such luck, it simply changed the speeds at which the vibrations occurred. I brought it back to the dealer and they essentially said "unless you put the stock wheels and tires back on were going to blame the vibrations on the wheels and tires you put on"; mind you my wheels and tires were both stock size, no lift, nothing crazy at all.

 

Ran the truck home, swapped out my factory wheels and tires and dropped it back off at the dealer. After explaining everything to them as calmly as I could, I truly hoped they would search for a solution that was not "tires" yet again. After all, we are on the 3rd set of tires and 2nd set of wheels at this point. Much to my dismay, they called a few days later and stated "It turns out it was your tires. Even though your now above 36k miles, were going to install a new set as good will."

 

Now we have been through 4 full sets of tires, and 2 sets of wheels and the vibration is back after just a few hundred miles.

 

Has anyone had any luck lemon law-ing a truck after 36k? My hope is since its still under the "express" power train warranty, and no one can actually pin point a problem, the BBB will rule in my favor. I've got my fingers crossed; I really have no interest in taking the hit on mileage depreciation.

Vibrations issues....Just bought a 2015 Chev Silverado 4x4 crew. First took it in at about 260 miles for vibration, the dealership balanced the tires. Picked it up went home. Drove to Houston again vibration, returned to dealer. Changed 4 tires, said the others were bad. Again drove to Houston again with the vibration. Wife says its making her sick sitting in the passenger seat. Took it back to the dealer, they had a mechanic ride with me. Says he felt the vibration but its normal for these trucks. WTF Never was normal in my other vehicles. So basically left me with if he feels its normal no reason to leave it here, I must be crazy so I take the truck home. Day before Thanksgiving Im sitting by the computer and type in 2015 Chevrolet Silverado vibrations...and pop. I find this has been a issue since the end of 2013 with the 2014 models. So now Im like, damn they know there is a issue but they are still selling these trucks, screwing the consumers over. Ive seen owners have there drive shafts, rear ends, axles, shockes, lots of tires changed and nothing has worked. So today I take my truck back to Cavender Chev in Boerne, talk to my service advisor rep and let her know what I have learned on the internet, she is in disbelief, she takes me to the service manager and I relay what I have found out. Youtube, this site and others. She says she isn't worried about the other trucks or sites, just my truck. Damn she knew there was a issue too! I could read between the lines. So they are doing a pico test which Im pretty sure it wont fix it, by reading other post. The give me a 2016 Chev suburban to drive as a loaner. Guess what? Yup, vibrates at 76-78 mph. Same frame shared by both. Same 5.3, tranny, frame. Checked and couldn't find a issue with the Tahoes, so Im going on a limb here and guess its a frame issue with the vibrations. Can feel it in seat, gas peddle and steering wheel. I don't know whats going to happen but if they don't fix it Im not going to go away saying nothing I can do.

Got a loaner after dropping my truck off at Cavender Chev in Boerne, its a 2016 Chevrolet Suburban, shakes at highway speeds. Chev is just spitting them out and not fixing the issue.

Mine is there now...same issues as everyone here. Same fixes offered. 4th time going..Dont hold your breath..
