Hi Guys just checking back in. My 2014 GMC Sierra CC SLT 4x4 Z71 with 20's (Michelins) now has a bit over 46k on it. The vibration is minor in mine and tolerable (to me) after i put the michelins on it but I was wondering about the fact that I have a split in the edge of the drivers side running board at the second support back. Obviously the running board takes a lot of twisting force to do this which could be an indication that it is holding the crew cab body to rigidly in place? How many of the shaker trucks have the flat running boards on them? I am thinking about taking mine off now just to test my theory but my shake is pretty minor and I am not sure if it is worth the effort. Have any of you guys that have major shaking and done basically everything else thought about trying this? Take a close look at the bottom outside edge of your flat running boards right at the supports you will probably see the hairline cracks just like I am seeing in mine? One is split badly and visible when you walk up to the truck. If I knew that they had fixed all these issues on the 2016's I would go trade I guess. Love the truck

Can you post a picture of the spot where you are seeing the cracks ? I have running boards on my HIgh Country that vibrates but the shop truck they give me when working on my truck does not have running boards and it is NOT a vibrator.

None of my buddies at work that say that they don't have vibes have running boards either... Why would the running boards cause a problem though?

I had the factory running boards, thought the same thing, maybe they were fluttering at high speeds, removed them but didn't change anything.

The only problem with running boards or nerf bars Ii ever heard of on GM trucks was squeaking of the cab mounts after boards were mounted on GMT800 series because the same bolts were used to hold up the running boards. Then there were quality problems with the running board themselves on later generation trucks, but these were mostly corrosion issues.

I am new to this site. I want to start adding my input to the vibration issues that I just started noticing. I am just returning from a road trip; Grand Rapids, MI to Gulf Shores, AL. I had around 4700 miles on the truck before I left. I will have more than 7000 miles when I get home.

I normally drive to work, around 15 miles, each way, at 70 mph. I noticed some vibration and told the dealer about it when I took it in for an oil change and rotation before the road trip. The dealer did a road force balance and said that one of the wheels was out by 1/2 ounce. Up until this trip I was attributing the vibration to a certain stretch of highway.

The vibration is very noticeable at 72 mph and up. Magnitude increases with speed. I took videos of my water bottle shaking around in the console. My wife complained about the vibration is the steering wheel, making her hands and fingers numb.

I emailed my dealer from Gulf Shores, AL, and the Service Manager gave me a call later in the day. He said that he wants me to bring the truck in on Monday, after work. He will give me a loaner while he takes it out with the vibration analysis equipment.

Overall, I liked the truck on this trip (mileage, handling, power, etc..), but the vibration was definitely a sour note to it all.

I will post what the Dealer finds.

I just rode in my buddies 2012 Ford F350. Although it is bouncier due to the stiffer suspension the truck rode great, no vibrations, absorbed road imperfections very well, etc. He also has the 6.7 Powerstroke and that thing has some awesome power and he averages about the same fuel mileage as I do from my truck.

I will say though, I believe the GM trucks have a better interior, quieter as well
