Shake or Vibration Issues

No way would I ever trade in this vehicle (or any vehicle for that matter). I too got a great deal on my XL Denali. I also received a decent "we are sorry for all of the shop time" payment from GM along with a healthy accessories credit (that I was going to spend anyway). I made it very clear that that was for issues to this point and that I still expected them to work to solve the vibration and buffeting. Unlike some, I am not dropping off my truck and letting it sit there until I see some type of traction being made here (like the two links showing the vibration fix for tires and drivetrain...They are working with me as best they can and because there is NOTHING that remotely comes close to this vehicle in comparison, I am sucking it up and hoping for a fix. Caveat - had a purchased this vehicle and not leased it I would have walked away after the first two weeks of troubles.

 

Walking away is probably easier BECAUSE you have a lease right? I leased mine last week, and already told the salesman I would be exchanging it/making them buy out the lease if it doesn't get fixed. I'll go buy another Tundra, I don't really care.

Now that some 2016 models are on the lots, I'm really interested to hear some test drive reports to see if this vibration is still present. I know the main change is the cosmetic front end but all manufacturers have engineering change orders they introduce during the manufacturing process to fix problems that have been identified and most of these ECOs are never publicly acknowledged so I'm just curious if they made some attempt to address this problem in the 2016s. If the 2016s still vibrate like the 14s and 15s, then that tells me either they genuinely don't know the root cause(s) and the complete and final remedy or it's something in this current design that they can't reasonably or economically fix.

I got a great deal on mine also and if my truck thats been at the dealer does get fixed ( I'm not optimistic ) I will be on the horn with GM for a refund for the 5 weeks I have not had it and the aggrivation....if its not fixed I have to start the buyback / lemon law process

At the dealership today. They asked if my truck had a shake. I surprisingly said YES!! they proceeded to tell me there is a recall with a transfer case update. Anyone hear of this? I scrolled back a few pages but didn't see it. Goes in tomorrow for the hopeful fix!

I have a 2014 6.2 high country.

If it's the same I just had the transfer case recall done on my 15 6.2 LTZ and it's a reprogram to the tccm for cold weather operation of the 4 wheel drive system. Shouldn't have anything to do with vibrating.

I drive a 15 Sierra Denali 5.3L, had recall work done, believe it was the 4 wheel drive during cold weather reprogram..

I have a $50k shaker.. I won't bore you with my problems.. New approach is I'm taking my truck to an auto expert for a complete vibration evaluation. Once they find the solution, I'll give GM one more shot to try and fix this POG. I'm half expecting the rear diff is the problem so first order is pop the cover and check the gears and backlash.

 

Might be less expensive for me to pay for the repairs than taking a $5-10k hit and trading it in for another brand.

 

I'm in the manufacturing business and have been involved in "Silent Recalls". I believe GM is well aware of the issue but the cost benefit analysis doesn't warrant a recall. Nobody had died yet from a shaky truck (but I'm having chest pains). They are spending most of their time dealing with ignition switch crashes and deaths so no help for the idiots that purchased a shaker.

I agree....being nobody's dying from a shaker they expect us to just deal with it

Make sure you have them check the pinion preload.

Set an appointment up at dealer last night for steering wheel resonance vibration.

 

Was lucky enough to meet another guy there with a vibrating Silverado, he filed lemon law so GM engineering was all over his truck.

 

He said that GM was going to put new tires on it, I laughed and said good luck.

 

I enlightened him on the 420 page forum, where GM has replaced shocks, tires, rims, driveshafts, axles, rear ends, shimmed motor mounts, found preloads on bearings incorrect, etc.

 

He was speechless
