Shake or Vibration Issues

My vibration came back yesterday, between 70-80mph I get heavy vibrations on the seats and steering wheel. Took video, will edit and post them up later. Pretty bummed about it since I doubt I will get anything fixed via GM. I just replaced the OE shocks with Bilsteins and was about to order wheels and tires here in the next month. I'm gonna take it to the dealer and see what happens, I expect they will try to road force balance my tires and neglect to do any further work since I have modified the suspension.

 

I will keep you guys updated.

Has anyone ordered the "all-terrain" tire upgrade option? The $200 one? If so, what tires did you get instead of the crappy Goodyear Wrangler SRA tires?

 

I am currently in a dispute with my dealership because my truck has the $200 all terrain tire option, but it was delivered to me with Goodyear Wrangler SRA tires.

 

What is even fishier, is that my SPARE tire is an actual upgraded tire! It is a Goodyear Wrangler HP tire. Does that make any sense?

 

Did they pull a switcheroo on me? I bet what happened was that they had complaints about vibrations, took the HP tires off my truck since it was sitting on the lot, put them on another customers truck, and put their crappy SRAs on my truck.

What is this "option"? New tires for $200 sounds like a steal....perhaps not?!

I too have a vibration that comes and goes, but is normally there after about 65mph and up. I put on aftermarket 20" Fuel wheels with Goodyear wrangler duratrac 275/60R20 tires that I have had discount tire rebalance 3 times now to try and rid the vibration. I put those on shortly after buying the truck, along with a 2.5" RC level. I don't recall having a vibration with the factory tires/wheels, but I am going to re-mount them and see if it happens to rule out a wheel balancing issue.

 

The truck only has 7k miles..

This thread makes me sad.

 

I have been test driving new trucks for some time now and sad it has come to that. I test drove a new Ram 2500 w/Cummins and it was flat awesome....that thing, although stiffer, rode smoother on the highway than my truck ever dreamed of. I have never been a fan of ram ( although they have always looked badass leveled ) but made myself test drive one because I was curious about the five link rear end on them. I was flat blown away by the quality of the interior and ride. I hate to jump but am just about to. Best of luck to everyone with this issue, I know exactly how you feel.

I have yet to test drive the Ram but figure it would probably make me sick with regret to have to get back in my GMC. Probably time to start considering taking a loss and regaining my sanity.

I test drove a new Ram 2500 w/Cummins and it was flat awesome....that thing, although stiffer, rode smoother on the highway than my truck ever dreamed of. I would go to another dealership. If you truly have a vibration issue, the dealership should recognize that and act appropriately.

 

Many of us have gone all the way, taken the truck in 4 times for the same issue, done the BBB process, and forced GM to buy the truck back or do an MSRP to MSRP trade. It is important to have a dealership that will actually try to fix the problem.

 

Maybe that's what they're doing now...telling dealerships NOT to fix the trucks...tell owners that all trucks do that and it is normal. That way you never get to 4 service visits and can never complete the steps necessary to get help from the BBB.

I live in MA, and got that same deal from the regional rep after my second visit, here we only have to allow 3 attempts before we can file and make the 4th the last attempt, not sure whether you meant that you had to allow 4 attempts and make the 5th the last or not.

 

That would be my guess as well about the stopping the 4 visits for the same issue. The only thing that really amazes me is the service mgr has a 15 truck and he understands my issue seemingly but GM just don't seem to have a fix and are now saying that is normal operation for the truck.

 

I will see where this leads me but it is really going to be difficult to deal with this on a daily basis driving 30-40000 per year

I hear ya on that, the service dept. at my dealership is fully aware and understand that we want our trucks fixed, but they can't fix something GM doesn't authorize otherwise they have to charge us or lose the money themselves, and neither of us will budge, so I got a lawfirm and we are filing a Class Action Suit, they are currently continuing their investigation into the matters but have indicated that it looks like a promising case

I've lost hope in GM the instant that they said they wouldn't do any more work to try to fix my truck and told me to drive in "M5" to "help reduce the driveline vibration"

I drove the 1500 Laramie in both the 5.7 & the 3.6 and they are amazing to say the least, but I was too nervous about their paint & body work, the price was also quite a bit higher than the Chevy.... which I thought was going to be a good vehicle, unfortunately its a vibrator with radio issues. I wish I had the Ram now,

I refuse to take a loss, I'd rather go after and fight GM over the problems

My future brother in law just got a 2015 F250 King Ranch with the powerstroke. Damn that is a nice truck. Makes me sad about mine haha. And, Ford even gave him Michelin tires from the factory. Ain't that nice? Never have been a Ford man, but I'd give em a shot if the dealer won't figure out my truck

I sent an email complaint to GM Monday about my vibrating Silverado through their customer service system, I have not heard back from them... Yea me

I also sent an email to GM on Monday about my vibration. I got a response back on Wednesday saying they were transferring my issue to a senior person and I would receive a phone call soon. Nothing yet but I hope all the complaints keep coming in so they can see how widespread the issue is.

I believe the 18" upgrade tires on chevys is the bridgstone dueller. But not on z71. Go figure.

It is a simple $200 option for "all-terrain" tires (replaces standard tires). You don't get a new set of tires, they just take off the original tires and replace them with what I would assume is an upgrade from the Goodyear Wrangler SRA tires.

 

My issue is, when I went through the BBB process and got GM to MSRP trade me a new 2015, the truck I settled on had this option, BUT, it came with the same crappy Goodyear Wrangler SRA tires that all these trucks are built with.

 

I got into an argument with the service manager yesterday and he didn't seem to know what he was talking about, so back to the drawing board (time to call GM).

Set up an appointment for Tuesday afternoon to drop my truck off again. Told the lady that sets up the appointments the vibration happens at 75+ and she was flabbergasted that I even drive that fast [emoji23] boy oh boy this is gonna be a long process for sure.

 

Told em I'll take the service writer for a ride or they have my permission to take it out to the closest freeway, 10 minutes away. Like damn, think outside the box a little
