The BBB process will only become longer as many owners realize it's

the only way to get GM to address this vibration issue.

As soon as I filed my BBB complaint GM Customer Service had nothing to do

with me, then another person stepped in as a go between for the district rep

who in my case had the magic wand but still drug his feet.

  • Has anyone checked the transfer case? Or front differential while engaged? At highway speeds (smooth road tracking straight) changing from 2 wheel drive into 4 HI, the every so slight and annoying vibration becomes very apparent, and a slight wining noise can be heard.... I will be bringing mine in to check this out.

For me that wouldn't be the cause because I have the Vibration but my truck is 2wd .

Mine vibes at 40 - 50 mph. It occurs during accel and decel. But is more intense during decel.

Right now it can only be felt in the steering wheel. More of a buzzing type vibration.

Started around 300 miles and now just over 1000 miles it has definitely become more intense.

Hopefully GM gets ahead of this soon!

I had this exact problem, it was due to ring/pinion gears in rear differential being slightly off. GM replaced the entire rear axle assembly and it fixed it completely.

What they were never able to fix was the gas pedal vibration at 70mph. Got BBB involved and 4 days before arbitration date GM made offer of MSRP to MSRP trade, so now waiting on picking out a new truck. Scary thing is, I don't know if I can trust any of these 1500s.

Perhaps I should follow through with making GM buy this vehicle back from me...?

I have the exact same steering wheel / center console / gas pedal feels you are having. How the hell did you get GM to call you? I've had 2 RF balancing done (1 I had to pay for as tires are warranties until 7500 miles and I'm at 14000).

Once you take your vehicle in for 4 repair attempts, and it still has vibration issues, start a BBB case and then you will have someone from GM calling you regarding the case. Save all service records as you will need them for your BBB case. You may need to allow them 1 final repair attempt if you're going the Lemon Law route. If you purchased the vehicle under GM Employee discount you cannot go Lemon Law route as you signed paperwork agreeing not to sue GM regarding the vehicle when you purchased it...so you must go through arbitration.

A certified letter needs to be sent to the address in the back of your vehicle manual, explaining to GM they have 1 final repair attempt, before you take the vehicle in for the final time. Someone may call you to verify they got the letter, or they may ignore it.

When I took my vehicle in the first 3-4 times, all they did was balance tires, swap in new tires, rebalance tires...and give the vehicle back saying it was ok. The final repair attempt, they ripped out the engine and transmission, and did a bunch of stuff to try and fix it (amazing they it takes the BBB and a lawsuit to get them to do anything...you would think they would put their best foot forward, but that isn't the case).

After final repair, you contact the BBB, and they move on to set an arbitration date. You'll either get a call from GM with a settlement, or proceed to arbitration to fight it out with GM and their lawyer they send. Odds are if the vehicle has real issues, they wont bother with arbitration and settle with you before the date. Not sure what would happen with the Lemon Law route but I assume something similar, they would settle with you out of court if they knew they would lose.

Most important thing is to get BBB involved and keep very good records of your problems, and all service records for each time you take the vehicle in.

One other thing I think is very important is to get a dealership to drive the vehicle and write in the service report they they do feel the vibration. If they drive it, and say its "normal", they are full of it and you might be wasting your time with said dealership...at which point I am not sure what the best course of action would be...but probably to find a dealership that is willing to work with you.

Really? I don't recall them mentioning this during the purchase and paper signing process. I guess I should start paying closer attention in the future on these types of larger purchases. Just out of curiosity I'll have to take a look back thru my paperwork.

So this is my first post. I was having the same issue. When I was sitting still my truck just vibrated like it was about to run out of gas or something. Was also having it almost surge while I was driving. Like it was just trying to go but getting small burst of power. I have a 2015 silverado 1500. Took it in and they told me they have to replace to torque convertor. So let's see what happens. Said for me to just continue to drive and it would be in a week.

Wow. Well, I've been in twice. Paid for 1 RF balance and get two ray one "free", aside from aggravation. STILL have the issue. 3-4 times going in and out is annoying and time consuming!

So, you went right to BBB online and filed paperwork? Your dealership assuming acknowledged the vibration but couldn't fix it?

Thank you.

I am going on my fourth attempt to get my vibration to stop. My tires have be balanced twice and they have been road forced balance once. After my road force balance my vibration was worse. They are now going to change out wheels/tires with a truck on the lot to see what that does. The service dept and sales manager don't think that it is a wheel/tire issue but want to rule it out. After that they are going to hook up the vibrating tool that reads the vibrations. Going down the interstate at 77-78 the seats and center console shake terrible, but it is never constant. It can shake the water out of my full cup for a few miles then it will settle down, then it will get worse again, all on the same stretch of road. I can go over the same road, and the truck will vibrate different every time. My dealership has been very good to work with, I am just tired of dealing with this issue. If this attempt it does not get fixed, the truck is going bye bye.

After all the hoops & circles, the Dog & Pony show GM
put me through and loosing a few bucks on the ' Buy Back '
almost three months later they keep sending me crap plus
now this...No it's Nothing like the Friends from back in the day.

First you shouldn't be paying for the RF balancing. That's ridiculous. They should refund you.

My dealer acknowledged the vibration from the start, and I got the BBB involved after the 3rd visit, then notified GM that they had 1 final repair attempt, per Michigan Lemon Law rules. I am not sure this is necessary since I had to go the arbitration route, but it only cost a few bucks for a certified letter sent to GM, so I did it just to cover bases.

I'll be going back for the headlight update and HOPE they look into the vibration again. Why not just hook up the vibration tool after 1 or 2 balancing attempts?! These dealerships want to look at everything else...
