"The third covers 152 of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC 1500 pickup trucks over concerns the rear axle shaft could fracture while the vehicles were being driven."

I wonder how only 152 trucks are affected. Sounds pretty dangerous to me.

The ride quality problems in the 2014 GM trucks goes far beyond just simple tires, or balancing issues. It's not directly related to rear ends only, or trans issues either. Last summer I was working hard to chase and get repairs for my 14 Silverado and after having everything swapped out by the dealers and engineers...my truck was deemed "normal". I dumped that lemon and drive a different brand of truck now and am happy again. In my opinion, it's an overall lack of quality control. The tires arent the best (most have GY SRA tires), almost everyone's drive shaft is out of spec...you can comfirm by lifting the rear end and letting it spin in gear with a strobe light (they swapped two shafts out of mine and I felt varying degrees of small improvement. Trans are out, pumps arent sufficient, rear end quality issues, fron suspension too small for the truck, aluminum steering components, hub assemblies adding to a wobble at high speed, mine even felt different and changes vibratory characteristics on windy days, with the tailgate down, or when following too close to a large truck on the highway. Air turbulence plays a role in ride quality...just sit in the bed of a truck while it's goijg down the highway and you'll feel all sorts of forces. If the aerodynamic issues were properly addressed in a wind tunnel during design, and quality control was much better on all drive line parts, these trucks wouldn't have the vibration issues they do. To date, NOBODY has had their truck fixed. Not one. Soe have trucks that drive better after rear end swaps, or new drive shafts, etc but they are not fixed. I lived this for almost a year...those trucks just vibrate and for those who say theirs dont just arent feeling it. I've driven two that were supposedly "smooth as glass" and left the tell tale harmonic "woom, woom" at 70 plus, and the overall shake from 60 up. As for tires, my new truck of a different brand has Good Year SRA tires, P rated, and I get a very good highway ride from them. This thread is a year and 5 months old....there is no magic fix. I suggest you decide if you can live with the ride quaility, or trade out to something else. Take it from someone who spent 8 months trying everything with no resolve whatsoever. Maybe the 2016's will be improved...but I doubt it unfortunately.

You've gone on at great length, but one thing stands out... Many owners HAVE had their vibration/shaking issues fixed. I am one. We don't post every day about our successful experience, but many exist.

My 40-50mph "rumble-strip" vibration required a new rear end, but is now trouble free. I just finished a 4 day, 1800 mile trip at speeds up to 85 mph, but mostly at 65-75 mph, towing a 2000 lb trailer. Ave mpg about 18-19, best 50 mile, 24+. Try that in your Ford, Dodge, or Toyota, then, get a life.

Oh, you mean like this?

The 5.0 F150 has more horse power, can tow more, and gets the same or better gas mileage without all the headaches and recalls. I've owned a 14 Vibratorado for 8 months, and a 14 F150 for 4 months. There's no comparison...my Ford gives up nothing to that POS Chevy that GM ripped me off with! By the way....your ignition system was just recalled today. Better take your truck in....AGAIN.

So you are happy... so am I, but you won't find me on the Ford forum posting bogus b.s. We now know you are a Ford person, so go stink up their space.

Just for the record the 5.0L dont come close to the 5.3 in the torque department

Doesn't come close? The 5.0 has 380 torque, 360 HP. The 5.3 has 383 torque and 355 HP. What's not close about that? The Ford actually has a much more efficient torque curve right to peak.

I've owned Fords and now a GM truck. Ford makes a serious truck. But the new GM trucks are pretty nice. They definitely have some issues though. With all the ignition switches GM has recalled, it's amazing how not every single vehicle being made doesn't come with a push button start system and comfort access to keep those massive girl key chains in their purses. I've been harping on GM about their 1970 keys now for almost 10yrs.

Yup, DOHC design with twice the parts all for a whole 5hp...

Hard to have a ignition gate situation when the cars don't even have an ignition switch! I've been harping on GM about their 1970 keys now for almost 10yrs. Just now in 2014 on my Silverado did they go to a laser cut key. Tell you one thing though, if the 14's still had their older keys I would of bought a Ram. The laser key was a minimum for me. Plus it's hard to stick a screw driver into the column and steal the truck when there is no key slot. GM has a good 1/2 ton, but needs to hire some OCD type A BMW guys to go over it.... My truck has 13k on it. Vibration free. I only notice some vibration when the "free oil change monkeys" pump my tires up to whatever they want. 35 front, 33 rear is the sweet spot I keep them at. I don't haul or tow much normally. If I was towing or hauling a big load I'd up the rear tires to 35 cold. Has anyone actually looked at the contact patch of the rear tires with 35 cold? or better yet the dealers 40psi. After driving 1hr home only about 75% of the tire is in contact with the road.

5.3 has over 100ft/lbs tq more at 1500rpm where you need it when towing, and you also might need to know that the more low end tq and a flat curve better then the mountain shape curve the 5.0 has

One more thing ... That instrument and gauge panel looks cheap compared to the Chevy/GMC setup. I was in my buddies 2014 Ford STX and the entire interior is all cheap looking plastic. The new Fords really are junk.

Plus those airvents that swivel all the way around feel cheap as well.
