So what is your advice for those who are serious about buying a new GM truck? Cross their fingers and hope that for $ 45k they will get a good truck that does not vibrate?

Well another week without my truck :nonod:

It's not the Dealers problem it's a GM PROBLEM in three day's the GM engineer had spent

with my truck, I or the Service Director really have no clue as to what Mr. engineer

did or anything as far as an idea as to what's causing the vibration issue

I just got my truck back on Monday, VIBRATION FREE!!! Ive put just over 150 more miles on it (760 on it now) and no problems. I will say my dealer had recognized a problem with the vehicle and kept me informed with how they were going to fix it. They had to put some mileage (60 miles approx.) on it to run the Vibration Analyzer on it, which didnt make me too happy. Im just glad they repaired it and did it whithin a reasonable time. I wasnt happy that this happened right out of the gate from purchasing the truck BUT Im glad they were able to FIND AND FIX the problem.

They ended up putting a new ring, pinion, bearings and yoke in the rear diff. The truck drives smooth as glass now and I couldnt be more happier. This is how a warranty repair should be done. Out of all the posts Ive seen on here Im surprised at how many people havent had the same luck as me. Im glad it didnt go the way so many here have had it. Thanks, H!

It has been 6 weeks in the shop and the dealer has run the list of parts. I filed another BBB claim 3 days ago and today I began negotiating a trade. If you get any BS from the dealer go on-line to the BBB. GM has responded within 2 days and both dealers involved have JUMPED on the issue.

My local dealer is now saying they won't trade outside their own network, another call from GM should fix that.

Their network? Tell them you want to trade for a Ford. Can you get a buy back so you can buy what you want where you want?

If the vibration does not return in the next 10k miles i will believe that they fixed it.

Hi Guys, I bought a 2014 Silverado double cab z71 back in June. I First noticed the vibration about 3 months ago but it was very slight. This was only around 45 mph. Now the vibration starts at 45mph and goes to about 65. I have my first appointment with the dealer next week to look at the issue. Does anyone think it could be the passenger rated good years that cause the problem? I have read on a few other forums that LT tires reduced if not fixed the vibration. Im tiring to gather up as much info as I can before I head to the dealer. Thanks for the help

yet you are here on this site making light of the problems these trucks have, so by your own admission you don't know what you are talking about.

Son, I've been comming to this site off and on since a few months after this place was created, I've been a member of this site thru 4 GM trucks i've purchased and owned, each with their own set of problems, GMT-800s, and GMT-900s, yet there is always someone like you who pops up every once in awhile and cries and cries and cries about how bad their issue is and all that crap about paying $40,000+ for a vehicle and blah blah blah. Was I happy when I had issues with my trucks? No. Was I mad at GM? Sure. But when everything was said and done, it was my choice to purchase the vehicle and accept the concequences of doing so. Having annoying little things that pop up that may not be easily repaired, or even repaired period is one of those concequences. The only thing I am making light of are the cry babies like you who keep on crying and crying and crying and crying foul this and foul that and woe is me and all that other stupid childish crap. Give it a rest already.

  • Hold the drive pinion stationary and move the ring gear back and forth.
  • Repeat the measuring procedure at each tooth around the ring gear.
  • The difference between the backlash at all of the measuring points should not vary by more than 0.05 mm (0.002 in).
  • If the difference between the backlash at all of the measuring points varies by more than 0.05 mm (0.002 in), inspect for burrs, a distorted case flange or uneven bolting.
  • If the difference between all the measuring points is within specifications, the backlash at the minimum lash point measured should be 0.08-0.25 mm (0.003-0.010 in) with a preferred backlash of 0.13-0.18 mm (0.005-0.007 in).
Checked it last night, measured between .005-.007". Had 1 tooth that was right at .008", the rest were right at .007" or alittle less.

Thanks for the advice.

So, you dont even have a dog in this hunt then. No 2014 silverado with or without problems?

Just couldnt resist coming into this thread and sharing your dissenting, uninformed, opinion?

To what end? Argument? Conflict? Are you a troll?
