Shake or Vibration Issues

First of all, not " my mechanic ". Second of all, if you read what I wrote, you will realize I said he never diagnosed my vibration that we are all having.

Of course I wasn't poking fun at you. Just saying that is the typical B.S that that we have all heard from these tech's. I guess it sounds serious when read. I just hate using LOL. Its only a little sarcasm. I just can't believe he threw out the overhead cam, and push rod line. Except for the 87ish Corvette engine I can't remember GM ever making an overhead cam motor. And that was actually a marine engine design. Cant remember, been a while. And small block push rod V8s will be running long after we're all in the ground. Its all this AFM and V V T crap screwing everything up. If you had an old design small block pushrod V8, with modern head technology, and fuel injection. These things would run forever. Sometimes less is better. And all engines have to be balanced, either internally or externally. He was just B.S.ing you like we've all been done.

When he mentioned the whole balancing thing I knew he was bs. In the end, although he explained more than anyone else has before him. It didn't matter because I had already ordered my new truck and this one is a goner ! Tundra TRD PRO can't wait till it gets here!!

So my truck is in for the fourth visit. They had done the new drive shaft and angle shim try. This actually made it a lot worse. So i jumped in my dealer paid rental and left. Today i got a call, and they explained they retested the tires for road force. One of the tires had a high road force and was to be replaced as soon as it came in tomorrow. Hmmm. My very first visit for this whole ordeal, they tested road force, and all were good, except one. One was high, but "within specs". Now its no longer within spec. Wonder when they changed that. This is getting rediculous.

stop being a dancing monkey for them and file lemon law

 

they just string you along until you give up and live with a defective truck or trade it in at a loss so they will continue this dance until you file

I am guessing there is still no fix for this issue? I have had the same issue with my 2014 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab LT ever since I hit around 8k miles. I am now at 12k miles and have had my truck in the shop 5 times, at two different dealerships, still not fixed. At the first dealership, my tires were replaced because they were "out of round", my drive-shaft was replaced, checked my alignment and road force balanced my tires. After none of this worked, the dealership concluded that the vibration was within GM's "quality standards" and there was nothing else they could do for me. The second dealership said they had a new "vibration sensing device" that was sent to them by GM to detect issues such as this. After running their tests, they road force balanced my tires and called it a day. This is my 7th GM truck and I have never experienced such a rough and annoying ride quality, this truck drove like a Cadillac when it was first purchased.

 

Has anyone tried filing Lemon Law for this problem? This will be my next step and if that doesn't work, I will be selling my truck and switching loyalties.

I traded in my shaky 2014 Silverado last week for a brand new 2014 GMC Sierra SLT. They seem to be willing to work with me on my trade and I was happy with the new truck purchase.. Seven days and 400 miles later, the 2014 GMC Sierra is shaking just as bad as my Silverado was..(steering wheel vibration between 40-50 mph and seats shaking from 70-80mph). I have contacted the dealership as to what they can do for me, since I have barely had the new truck for a week. I will report back with what I find. I have a feeling I will have to go Lemon Law this time.

Seven days and 400 miles later, the 2014 GMC Sierra is shaking just as bad as my Silverado was..(steering wheel vibration between 40-50 mph and seats shaking from 70-80mph). I have contacted the dealership as to what they can do for me, since I have barely had the new truck for a week. I will report back with what I find. I have a feeling I will have to go Lemon Law this time.

I would assume so, I don't think they changed much on the '15s.

If you've really been in four times, I'd say go ahead and lemon law that bad boy. It's obvious they ain't gonna get it fixed anytime soon.

Are 2015's selling in your area? not selling yet where I am. But, the shake is on the 2015 HD trucks.

Wow... that's f**K** nuts! How isn't the problem being found yet? How long will this crap go on? Geez...

Can you get in one and go for a test drive? would be of great help to know.

OK here's a good one. Drove home from work two days ago in my truck which has never had a single vibration problem in its 1350 miles. At about 35-50 miles per hour and about 3 miles into the drive, it started. It got really bad around 50 mph to the point that my outside mirrors were shaking from the vibration. It didn't matter what rpm I had the truck at, but did diminish as I slowed down under 35 mph.

 

Got home and went to put the parking brake on and noticed it clicked once and came back up! It appears the brake had not completely depressed when I started out the trip but it was up enough that the parking brake indicator light was off and I had zero noticabke drag or slow down from it being just slightly applied until I got to my hill in my neighborhood and could hear the rear gears kinda clunk from the slack when I let off the gas. The brakes did smell a bit once i got out but only the rears.

 

Took the truck out on errands today and made sure the brake completely depressed, zero issues or vibrations today all day! Now I'm not taking away form anyone's claims of faulty vehicles but this seems like it could happen rather easily and the symptoms are identicle to what is described here. It could be possible that the parking brake may be at fault for some people's vibration issues. It could be sticking or not completely depressimg when released. Just a though and may be worth looking into
