Shake or Vibration Issues

My truck still vibrates when it is in v8 mode, no change from v4 to v8 in vibration!

Flapper system is a failure for GM, what were they thinking using an exhaust flap valve inline with a carbon burning exhaust system. This is a recipe for disaster! I guess the exhaust system dont rust or becocome soiled with carbon causing it to stick, or vibrate, or fail!

Mine is going in this Tuesday as the vibration seems to be getting worse. The dealer said he has had 26 complaints about the issue and their is several TSB's on the topic. I will report back after my truck has gone in to be looked at. My dealer told me they have some specialized tools at their shop to diagnose vibration issues.

They did that 2 times with my truck. The results always are "normal". And the "normal" is defined by GM... Good luck!

Well I hope they figure it out. I took some video today doing 80mph and my drink just about vibrated out of the Center console. I will also demand to take the mechanic out for a drive to show him the shake at 80mph. I'm sure the response would be hey that's faster than the speed limit we can't drive it at that speed. This dealership really better not give me the jerk around as I will become their nightmare. I also don't have a problem with swapping this truck to another brand. There a brand new Dodge dealership moving into my town in a month so like I said GM better take care of this issue or I will inform everyone I know and then some. The GM dealer in my town has been good to me so I believe they will take care of this. Either way I will keep the updates coming.....

Has anyone remove the driveshaft and taken to a drive shaft specialst for a real balance .Not the way GM top dawg engineers balance with hose clamps.. Took my truck to true my tires today and specialist told me that he would not true tires until i had my drive shaft rebalanced . He felt the vibration that everyone feels except GM and said it had nothing to do with tires and wheels ... Called my GM dealer and left a message see if they could rebalance it under warranty and never got a call back... Good customer service if you ask me!!!!!!

I am in the same boat now. Just bought my 2014 Silverado Z71 crew about two weeks ago. Started noticing that between 40-55mph i get shaking in the steering wheel. This drives me nuts. I took it to dealer last week and they said it was fixed, but of course it wasn't. I took it back today and they said they rebalanced tires and it's no longer vibrating, BS!!!! It is still doing the same exact thing. I did notice that on two wheels now that they stacked many wheel weights, like a total of 10 on each wheel. This looks very tacky especially on a brand new 40K truck! The final thing that makes me mad is that when i picked it up my brand new truck today, it smelled like an ash tray. Smells like it was smoked in today while being worked on. I'm not sure what to do!

Has anyone had any luck with the vibration going away after a ring gear replacement? I've already had the tires and drive shaft replaced and now they think it could be the ring gear.

I believe Chappy got his fixed with a ring gear replaced. Mine is going in sometime this week (hopefully) for 4 new different tires, and a new "improved" drive shaft design. I'm just waiting for the call to say the parts are in. If these items don't fix it I assume it'll be ring and pinion gears next, then trans pump, then torque converter. After that I don't know what they'll replace...hopefully GM will have some sort of harmonic balance device to solve the issue? I don't know....I don't want to be an engineer....I just want to turn the key and step on a gas pedal without feeling shaking in a new truck.

Here's Chappy's post describing how his got fixed... I haven't seen any further posts from him, so I assume it's still good and vibration-free. (Otherwise I'm sure he would report back).

Yes mine does this also, and I have a 1-2-3-4 shift shudder as well.

They have not been able to fix it as of yet!

Tires have been swaped out and balanced and ruled out as the problem, rear end next and driveline.

No fix, and they have no idea too! Very fustrated now and beyond hope.

To what extent are everyone's vibrations on the highway? Mine can be felt through my seat and the passenger seat moves 70-80 mph. A water bottle doesn't shake in my console. Does anyone have videos of their vibrations?

Just heard from my dealer... the GM engineer said he can't fix my vibration and told me to keep driving it until they come up with a fix. How do I know that the vibration will not cause a major safety issue that could kill me or someone else? I agree with you, I just want a vehicle that doesn't shake down the highway. Words cannot express my disappointment.

I don't have a video, but if I ride down the highway at 45 mph for a few minutes, my hand will be tingling from the steering wheel vibration. Mine has been in the shop(dealer) twice now without a fix and is supposed to go back to dealer again Friday. I said the heck with it and went ahead and called GM today to open a case. Don't know if that will help at all, but after reading all these post I'm not going to waste anymore of my time with the dealer without GM involved.
