Like I stated many pages ago (and I was called multiple names by people for doing it)..... WE ALL NEED TO BE PATIENT.

 

A few other things to consider:

 

Price of vehicle doesn't guarantee that there will be no problems. Stop saying you paid over 50k for it....it means nothing here.

 

GM is aware, but it takes time to research and develop a fix (was the case with Ford and Nissan before us).

 

No, GM is not going to call you back an give you a play by play of what they are doing to research the issue. That is an unreal expectation of a huge corporation. They will relay the info to the dealers when they have a fix nailed down.

 

Mechanics at dealerships don't go rogue and research and test on your vehicle. If GM has put out a TSB, they aren't going to just try something and see if it works....

I took a month break from reading any of these posts and I still see the same problems being discussed.

 

So? Sometimes it takes time to resolve issues.

 

We just have to keep working with our dealers.

Had my 2014 Texas edition sierra 1week save issue.

Dealer found that during the vulcanization of one of the tires was not manufactured correctly.

Hey all! I thought I was done with this saga but I guess not......

 

Last night I decided to look under the truck just to see if anything new or different had been done. To my complete amazement I see two flipping hose clamps wrapped around the driveshaft. UN ______INGBELIEVABLE!!! This, my friends, was installed by a GM field engineer. Can you say "Professional Grade"?

 

Why would they not take the time to take the shaft to a shop and have it properly balanced? They had the damn truck for 23 days! What's one more day?

 

Guess where I'll be first thing Monday morning.

Yea....this has been discussed earlier in the thread. It is technically a valid fix....when it works.

Apparently you have nothing wrong with your truck, and yes I expected more out of a 50k truck. Before making comments like this remember that some people save for a long time to buy one of these trucks and others make years of payments.

According to GM they put ...what was it....millions of test miles on this truck. I am willing to bet they knew about the majority of the problems with this truck before it was released, if not, their testing is BS.

That may be how you test it but it is definitely not a permanent fix.

This would be a good poll. If you went to buy a new 40 - 50k truck and the salesperson said, "oh by the way, we balance our drive shafts by clamping weights to them with hose clamps, yes that's right, hose clamps, oh yes sir, it's how we permanently affix the weight to the shaft". Would you buy it.

Bought my 14 Silverado 2WD CC, 5.3, 3:42, GY LSA 20s, last Sat 7/12/14. I did some research prior to buying and read a bit about vibration, so I took it on the interstate before I bought it. Traffic was thick so I was only able to hit 65 or higher for a few seconds at a time. 20 minute drive and no vibes noticed. Went back and swung the deal, traded my 12 Silverado 2WD Ext, 5.3, never had a prob with that truck.

 

On the 30 min drive home with the new 14, the vibes started in. Vibrates from 68 up through 85, havent gone faster yet. Drove it home that Sat eve, went for a longish drive on Sun over various roads, rough, smooth etc. Rough roads mask the vibe, smooth roads really let it rip. Shakes the seats, pedals, console, and makes groceries rustle in the bags on the back seat. Feels like its coming from under the rear of the truck. Wow. At 71 its the worst. I get a knot in my stomach the last week just thinking that I may have spent 40K+ for a headache.

 

Took it back to the dealer today (7/17/14). Service manager rode with me and felt the vibe. Said it was "pronounced" and said he understood why I wasnt happy with it, said he wouldnt be happy either. He said they had already fixed one with the same prob. Said the other truck had a bad tire. His explanation was that the tires were "flat spotted" from sitting since the trucks were built. He explained the RF balancing procedure and was confident that they would find a bad tire and replace it. I sure hope so.

 

They gave me a loaner/demo 14 2WD CC, 5.3, 3:42, GY Assurance Fuel Max 18s, over 4K mi. Thing rides like a Caddy. Flat and smooth up thru 80, No vibes at all. Sure hope my truck rides this good someday.

 

Update. They called me Fri afternoon 7/18/14, said it was ready. I picked it up Sat morn 7/19/14. Service sheet said they RF balanced all tires, nothing said about how bad they were or werent. Service advisor was female, didnt know anything about it. Manager wasnt in. Truck had 1 mile added since dropped off. It felt like it might be better, but I didnt really have time for a shakedown drive until today. I put 75 miles on it over varied types of good/bad roads.

 

Still shakes. The shake used to be the worst at 71, now its worst at 75.

 

Im calling monday and taking it back again ASAP. Another 40 mile/45 minute round trip that I have to squeeze into my busy week. I cant understand why they didnt road test it to confirm that it was fixed. Could have saved me a trip/gas/time. :bs:

Mine now has 2 HOSE CLAMPS on the drive shaft as well. They are HOSE CLAMPS, not welded on drive shaft weights. I guess this can work as a test, but they really should be used to mark spots, and then weights welded on as a permanent fix. Mine made no difference by the way, it still have a very annoying and completely unacceptable shake and I'm over 3 months and 3 trips in trying to chase down this thing...to get t to where it should have been when I bought it off the lot. I go in for a 4th time this Wed, and we have entered lemon law territory now.

I've had my truck for a total of 6 months (maybe 7). This vibration issue arose about 2 months later with 6000km on it.. Its been 4-5 months later with an extra 7000km put on it, and its still not fixed. Every time I take it to the shop and get it back all that they have done is balanced my tires. I have maybe 20 services reports with them stating, the vibration is there, balanced the tires, its now fixed. Yet I drive it 500km (thats a round trip for me) and its never gone. I will drive 20km and its not gone but I need to get back home.

 

So what do I do, I brought it right back (yesterday) and as I walked into the service shop the service manager announces to everyone "Look who it is! It's *Full name, middle and last)* coming in with his "Vibration" issue. What can we do for you today!?"

 

I almost told him to **** right off there, but instead kept my cool (sort of) and said "Heres my truck again, why don't you do your job and get this fixed. Maybe try something different and look elsewhere not just the tires."

It wasn't only other employees it was in front of other customers. I will be bringing it up with the senior director that's apparently coming in on my case. The service manager hasn't liked me from day one. I think it's probably my age, I get treated much differently then I would if I was older. I'm 21 who owns a 60k truck.

It's still unacceptable regardless of your age. 21 year old with a 2014 GM full size pickup, congrats, I hope it all works out for you.
