Registering a Truck...Maybe it's just California...

A friend of mine bought a 03 Silverado that was totaled by the insurance company of the prior owner.

My friend is a bodyman and mechanic and fixed the truck.

Now he goes to get the truck registered and is having a heck of a time with DMV.

They verified the VIN and it is not stolen or anything, but they complained that he put a K & N air intake and filter on it but would let it go this time.

Now they are complaining that the Air Restraint and Air Bag labels are not in the engine compartment like it had when it was new.

They are just nit picking this thing to death. Probably want to charge again for him to bring it back.

When are the air bag labels on a truck required to register a vehicle?

Do they do that in your State?

When it is totaled, then the builder (rebuilder) must now be understood as the car maker and follow all regulations, labels, saftey devices......

and so on !!!

It is bull pucky !!! I understand the crap when I had a conversion van not aceptable once and spent 5 years getting it THEIR WAY...

Good Luck and that was in CANADA too.

ooohh , they did not like the way the seats were mounted and reinforced under the rear seats with 1/2 inch plate around the wheel wells !!!!

I thought that too at one point. $3600 month sounds too good to me to move out of California

Most of us don't get veterans benefits though.

Plus I like being able to readily get magazines that hold the number of rounds the manufacturer intended, not what Feinstein wants. ;)

That is true. If my school housing allowance wasnt so high here I would move. Too many restrictions but the money is too good
