2014+ Gas Mileage (MPG) Topic

Recommended Posts

Exactly, I notice that when I'm around 50-60, MPGs are 20+. But once I hit the freeway at 65-75, they drop down quickly to the 15-17 range.

You should be in the mid 20s or higher going 55 on flat. Are you seeing it kick into V4? I get very good results with the cruse control. I can beat the cruse but it is not really worth the effort, as the cruse does a good job.

Yeah the 24s will get ya. I have the All-terrains which aren't as good as the all seasons.

That 50 had a large down hill so is a bit cheating but still fun to try to set a high number. You should see the 25 number. I didn't post that because 25 doesn't mean too much.

But my life time number is over 22mpg and my commute is all city.

New best 50 mi.

That ties my best 50 @ 37.6, but what was your best 25 and 400? Mine was 25 @ 52.1, and 400 @ 26.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have an app on my iPhone called "gas cubby" I use it to track services as well as gas mileage, it's an awesome app. But my truck was getting 22-23 on the highway before the lift and tires, now I'm getting between 17-19 on the highway and 15-16 in the city (as long as I'm not in the hills). Let's see what happens in a few weeks once the supercharger and headers get here ;-)

27.2 for 400 miles.

Ventilator which tires and size do you have?

I still have the original W.O.L. Good Year Wrangler SR-A M+S P265/65R18 on there.

I know most don't like them, but they have been very good tires except for a little lacking in deep snow. Stay balanced, no vibrations, and with 25,000 on them, have a lot of life still in them. I've had one puncture that must have been a sharp rock, but has been doing well after the repair.

I also have a double-cab 5.3, 6sp, w/3.42 gear ratio.

What tires do you have, and your truck stats? You must travel some long slopes out West?

Just picked up my 2014 yesterday, 43000 miles, Saturday. So far I have about 75 miles on it since then. Years ago I had an 07 GMC Sierra extended cab with 5.3 AFM and factory 20 inch wheels. The average for that one over the life of it was 18.408 according to the aCar app on my phone. It would go in 4 cylinder mode and if you changed pedal position, it would step back to 8 cylinder mode. This 14 Silverado I am able to ease down on the gas and actually gain speed. It seems they have done work on the AFM and to me it seems to be better. I just about the last 10 pages of this thread and am really impressed with the reports some of you guys are giving. Maybe by the end of the week I can add a pic of my averages. When I parked it last night it was near 22.5 MPG for the cruise around and drive home.
