So i set the cruise control at 57MPH from Concord NH to Boston about 75 miles and this is what I got: almost 27MPG!

I wish people would quit posting these! Look! Anyone can get 27 mpg over 25 mile average! Shit man I've gotten as much as 36 mpg over 25 miles while I was headed down the mountain pass!

If you did 75 mile trip show is your best 50 mile per gallon average. Better yet 400 miles then you have something to be excited about! Here I'll post an example for you.

And BTW I have a 6.2 d cab and my average mph was 70 over the 407 miles oh and I also crossed the continental divide during this trip which includes 4 mountain passes some of which are 8% grades

This Message deals with Fuel Mileage while Towing.

I just got back from a 6,800 mile trip from Houston, Tx through Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, New Mexico and then back home. I was towing a 6,000 lb travel trailer, and had about a 1,000 lbs of people, dogs, and equipment in the truck. I consistently maintained a speed of 60 mph. I used premium fuel through out the trip, but the octane ratings ran from 93 in the Houston area to a low 90 octane in parts of the Northwest. My average fuel price per gallon ended up at $3.93 and my average, hand calculated fuel economy was 11.69. As others have mentioned, the DIC is off (higher) by 4.21%. My truck is a '14 Silverado CCSB (standard bed), 6.2L/Max Tow w/Tow Mirrors. I mostly ran with cruise control on, and Trailer Towing OFF. I hope the information helps you. Thanks.

19 mpg for 6771 miles.

Regular 87 octane gas

2014 Silverado 1500 4x4

Double Cab

5.3 V8

3.08 rear end

Mostly highway miles

Pretty darn good considering it's a V8 with plenty of power whenever needed.

I still think it would be awesome if it had the option of auto or manual switch for V8 / V4 - I bet I could get at least a few more mpg out of it if I could switch it to V4 myself.

I feel the same way man! Sometimes it seems like it's just a bit too sensitive about switching

I'm sure it will drop a lot when I get some truck tires... But it's been 50% highway 25% city 25% traffic Not bad at all to me, if I didn't get a exhaust I'm sure it would be better.

Problem with switching to V4 is people will destroy the engines. The engine cant handle detonation very well in V4 mode and there is a time limit to V4 mode as well of 360 seconds per cycle until the decay period is meet and then it can go back in again. This is done to keep the other cylinders warm and up to temp and I am sure for other reasons as well.

I turned my AFM off and am still seeing the same if not a little better mileage on mine.

I agree, the V4 mode is shifting off because the motor is lugging. if you pay attention to the instant gas mileage when go from V4 to V8 it doesn't change. If you are concerned about not running in V4 mode long enough turn on the tow haul mode it stays in V4 a lot longer. In the process of running a full tank in tow haul mode, so far haven't seen any difference in MPG.
