2014+ Gas Mileage (MPG) Topic

What tires are you running? If you plug up the hypertech it will tell you what they have input if you go into the programming section. If it does nothing they overwrote the hypertech program and you will have to call them to have it reset. Install the hardware on your computer before calling them so you can update it accordingly. I run ProComp Xtreme MT2 tires. They are listed as 34.6" OD but actually with the truck load on them they are 33.67".

I have Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ with an OD of 34.7. I did plug the programmer into the computer after I installed the program and it says that in order to update the programmer I have to return the truck to stock. Do I need to do that or call the support number to find out what I need to do? Oh, did you have to pull any fuses for the addons before flashing? OnStar, remote start, etc.?

If you have personally programmed your truck with it you should be fine; if not you need to hook it to your truck first and see if it will let you modify the tire size. If not then call Hypertech and have them reset the programmer. Your tires are going to be right at 33.75"; my brother has the same ones.

I just test drove a 2015 diesel for 35 miles, then took my broken in 2014 1/2 ton with 3.08 on the exact route. Got the same mileage according to the DIC. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk

FWIW, LML fuel mileage typically continues to improve for the first 10,000miles.

It was a round trip drive on the same route. I had to go up the same hills that I went down. Most of the driving was rolling hills driving about 65 to 68 mph on cruise control.

With the warm up in Michigan in town I was getting around 15...temperature plummeted back below freezing and she went right back to around 11. Temperature back up back up to around 15.

The first tank of gas after 2,000 miles it goes back to the dealer.

ahu8a8ys.jpgma3uqyze.jpg You all gotta be running stock or something, this is mine, combination city highway but the trip A is with a 200 mile highway trip. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Adjusting speed may help a few tenths, but will not over come that lift & tread. Definitely looks cool, but does cost at the pump to run that set up.

Damn... That might be the best 6.2 mileage I've seen so far

Yeah no doubt that 6.2 mileage is insane! My 6.2 amazes me and averages 17+-18+ on my 50 mile daily drive of 50/50 mix highway and stop and go. I find it all to tempting to lay the hammer on Mondays and Fridays though!

Ok, we returned from the trip that we went on. The raw data after filling up for the above pictures 380 miles total before starting trip. The truck took 19.5 gallons and mpg worked out to 19.48 mpg on the 1st tank. Here are some pictures of the trip that had about 250 miles of mountain driving and flat land driving the rest of the way for a total of 1154 miles. So it works out this way. 1154 - 380 = 774 miles for the trip. On the trip we burned 37.5 gallons of gas for a gas mileage of 20.64 overall.

The best of it.

The part that has the most wow took place on the flat land. It was a reduce speed zone that went forever. The posted limit was 55mph and I set the cruise at 57mph. The CHP had people pull over on both sides of the freeway. In case you can't read it because the road was rough. The current mpg on the left said 28mpg. The best at 50 miles was 25.7 mpg and the avg. was 25.7 mpg

For the best 25 mile club went to this picture. Cruise set at 70mph. That was on flat land driving near Delano, CA on Interstate 99 going to Bakerfield, CA.

As someone who came from driving a 2004 K2500 with the 6.0L iron block that maxed out at 14 MPG on this highway, I had to share. I bought my 2014 1500 5.3L with 3.42's a little over a month ago. This past weekend I was playing with drafting other SUV's and trucks on the highway and I averaged 21.9 for 50 mile at 78 MPH! This thing is going to save me a ton of money in gas.
