HID Headlight Bulbs / HID Projector Retrofit

Recommended Posts

Yep. Both 50w 5000k

My 55W 5000K from DDM seems brighter than that though. Not calling you a liar or that these pics aren't good representations, I'm just stating my observations from my kit.

Here's my 55W kit from outside the truck

I understand. Pictures can't tell everything and not every single kit is the same.

The only way to compare one to the other is with real measurements of lux. A camera lies... different exposures will give variable results and mislead comparing pictures on the internet. SmileySnoozeAlarm.gif

Nobody's lying. But it's like comparing fish pictures or deer horn pictures on the net. "...how big was he? BIG! Really BIG!"

"This big?"

SJ,

I am making the plates for the Sierra. I don't know if the Silverado projector has the same pattern or not. Maybe. Someone has already removed their projectors from a Silverado. Some straight on pics would help.

Hey I just realized you said you were making plates. I know Phil from Fastheadlights already has a plate design for the Sierras to retrofit an FXR. He uses a 3D printer to make them. I'm sure you could get some plates from him if you want to

Mikey,

I'm doing RX350 projectors. I already have them tuned and ready. Ballasts and details like the plates need some work. Soon.

My pile-o-parts

That pile-o-parts need to go into your headlight housings so we can see how well they work in there! I got the FXR projector right now sitting in a box in my room because I saw that most others were using it and liking that projector. Can't wait to see how yours does with the RX350. It could be a game changer haha.

I too have a set of FX-Rs sitting in the garage awaiting the holidays to get over. Also have a set of non-afs RX350s enroute from TRS with denso slims. Going to compare fitment in my aftermarket LTZ headlights to see which fit better and are easier to retro since the mounting posts for the projectors are spaced different than the oem LTZs.

It seems that the FX-R is the most popular projector. I picked the RX because I just read the TRS descriptions and looked at dimensions, then just picked the one I though was touted as the best, given the size, etc.. I'm sure I'd be happy with the FX-R, especially if it fit better.

Alright so has anyone else have this happen to them: I hooked up my hid kits (high and low) without a wiring harness but the lows have the error eliminators and now my DIC is saying to service my stabilitrak and brake assist. It didn't do this before install, so I'm wondering if the HID'S could even mess with those systems or is it just a coincidence??

Don't think you can go wrong either way. All the "RX350 vs. FX-R" threads I've read over on hid planet seem to be a split on preference of the two. Both being some if not the top performers for bixenon.
