HID Headlight Bulbs / HID Projector Retrofit

Recommended Posts

Vandne, I noticed you said you got the 5000k color and it was a fair bit whiter than the LEDS... Would the 4500k or 6000k match the LED's better?

I would guess the 4500 (a bit more yellow) would be a better match. I'll take some better pics to try and show the color difference. The pictures I've loaded so far don't really show the difference too much and really it is quite minor the difference. Personally I like the light the 5000k give as they are very close to what I'm used to from bmw/mercedes factory HID lights.

Need y'all's opinions. I'm thinking that this may be the best way to sit the lights in the fogs. This way they will be set level for the road since there is no right and left adjustments possible with these housings. Only up and down.

Only thing that would be different from here to final product is that what is chrome would be black. And so would the plate backing the light. Tell me what y'all think!

Moto,

I am wondering if you can take a look at a couple of products for me and confirm what I need to order? I am looking at ordering:

http://www.hidcanada.com/collections/hid-products/products/hidc-r4-conversion-kit

and

I have a Denali on it's way and am starting to stock pile parts....

Thank you,

First link didn't work. Second is correct. You'll also need a set of cancelers (aka capacitors, CAN-Bus, etc..)

Are you dead set on that brand? Not sure what the USD to CAD conversion is currently, but you might save a few bucks by getting Morimoto instead. They makes a high quality product with a proven rep on the forum.

The kit says the Canbus is included. It is not the exchange that kills us up here it is the shipping and duties. Shipping for the Morimoto's is minimum $21 for the pony express all the way up to $60+ for UPS. UPS likes to charge us $35+ for clearing the package through customs even if customs chooses not to bill anything.....end of rant....

I have used HIDcanada before. It is a very good product. Shipped very well packed and they also usually include an extra bulb no charge.

Without halo ring:

With halo ring

I am definitly planning on painting it black. And thinking that this is going to end up being the easiest mounting option as well. Just waiting on my bulbs from DDM to finally arrive. Ordered on the 6th, shipped on the 8th, still waiting on the 19th. My impatient qualities are killing me! I'm just hoping that all the parts they send me work properly!

I agree 5000k hid does by match the LEDs or 5000k LEDs I got from v-led. I wish I would of opted for 4500k

Autocorrect Woops. 5000k in the ddm kit does not match the LEDs. I'd suggest 4500k.

5000k vleds fogs match the stock LEDs in the sierra headlights well

So you upgraded the bulb? What to? Why?

So you upgraded the bulb? What to? Why?

There is no specified output rating because it comes with a small 55W H3 bulb but you can upgrade it to a 9006 HID (which is what most people do). I changed it becuase I like HIDs and I have a 25W in the stock housings and they have slightly burned the housing and put out barely any light. So changing it will allow me to put a brighter light without blinding other drivers and therefore give me better sight without being an a$$ by blinding everyone. Also throught my talks of the bulb on here I have said that I'll be upgrading to a 55W HID from DDMtuning, I just have to wait for the bulbs to come in. Hopefully they will be in soon, at which point the final installation of the housings will be done (since they are not waterproof unless you have an HID in them), once I install them I will post pics.

Also the reason why I got the ones with the halo ring was to better fill in the space left by the 4" diameter fog housing since the projectors are only 2.25" and the ring brings it up to 3"
