Ordered my Silverado Spec morimoto elite 4500k kit for low beams on Tuesday, Lightwerks 25% off sale, couldn't beat it. Should be here Monday.

I have posted a few times but I'm ready to deal on these headlights.They are new in GM boxes GM projector headlights with FXR projectors and Morimoto HIDs. Had them in the truck about two weeks then traded truck. Each headlight was $500 plus the FXR projectors and HIDs so I have $1300. Will sell for $600 plus shipping.

Finally did the HID upgrade. I used the Morimoto Silverado Kit 35W, 5500k with extension and Capacitor Link. After doing the fogs this was pretty easy, although it took us 3 hours because we could not get the damn thing to light. Checked all connections and power, fuses, come to find out the pins at the OEM source wasn't making good contact. Got that sorted out and viola! Took some not so good pictures for those who may need a hand.

 

Installation:

 

Laid out everything and made sure it worked before running harnesses.

-Driver side ballast as you can see is on the fender with 3M tape behind to kill any vibrations.

-Passenger side ballast was a bit of pain, but managed to mount it on rad support in front of air box.

-HD Relay Harness was mounted on the bottom of the Air Box tray, I used one of the tray bolts to slide the hole of the HD Harness bracket on to and find a matching nut. Wanted to put this on the fender but I only got 1 ext and for some reason that wasn't enough.

- Cap Link sat on top of the rad support with 3M tape with the wires also running on top of the rad support.

- Dust cap, worst enemy ever!!! ?

Couple things I noticed, whatever alignment issues I had with OEM bulbs have been magnified big time with the HID bulbs. It really is a big difference but I need to do some adjustments on the passenger side particularly. I read to make sure that the bulbs are set a certain way but these only go in one way so I don't know if the rod on the bulb is where it should be? Anyone? All in all a 2/5 difficulty rating to do the job!

Keagan the rod on the bulb must be on the bottom when installed correctly. First set of Morimoto HID bulbs mounting tabs did not align correctly in housing when installed and rod was to the side. Lighting output was awful on driver's side and I was very dissatisfied. However it was late and couldn't remedy the problem.

Following day I looked over things and noticed rod was not on bottom. Moved the bulb but the mounting tab was not going in correct but bulb stayed put. Testing later that day confirmed the output was great.

Thanks man, will have to double check how it went in. Really don't feel like taking out that air box again right now.

Alignment wouldn't matter much with halogen housings would it?

What am I missing here....Attempting to hook the kit up for my 2014 Silverado from lightwerks I got the Silverado Spec kit and maybe my brain just isn't firing on all cylinders today but I can't figure out if this is an am extra connection I can get rid of or not? As of right now I've got it going:

 

Stock output-> capacitor link-> hd relay-> ballast-> igniter-> bulb

 

Haven't fired it up yet cuz I wanna be sure of this connection in the picture first. Also, the capacitor link won't plug into the stock output with the connector attached. Had to remove it and just plug in each blade of the connector.

Nvm I think I answered my own question.....in my defense it's an extra day off for me, and apparently my brain took the day off too.

Lol, it happens. I had a couple brain farts during my installation. Nothing a few choice words and a beer didn't fix. You only need one for source. You can take out the other one.

now you just need to get rid of them stock fogs. Upgrade to the morimoto XB LED fog lights...looks way better and way better output than stock.

I thought about it, I have them on my Avalanche but I thought the HIDs gave more output.

Yeah I know man, I actually planned to get the XB fogs but after reading through this thread I thought some members mentioned the XBs output would fade over a period of time. Although this hasn't happened yet with my Avalanche. The only thing stopping me is having to take off the bumper.
