HID Headlight Bulbs / HID Projector Retrofit

Recommended Posts

The mopar relay is what TRS uses as well. It works for both mopar and Silverado and I assume Sierra. I wanttoseeatnight has a Sierra I assume since he said his hid isn't used for the drl.

Depending on the Sierra the hids are drl mine they are cause I don't have the leds around the head light

Hey all, so this might be a dumb question, but do you have to start the truck to "test" the HID's? I have mine all apart in the garage right now, I have the Innovited HID kit, with the single input relay harness, and i've double/triple checked all connections, and i'm getting absolutely nothing when i turn the light knob on the left side of the dash. I just picked up the truck, so forgive me that I don't know exactly how to turn on the lights in this truck, or if you can without the key in the ignition. Can anyone chime in so I can wrap this up tonight? Thank you!

Just to follow up here, I figured it out, but the ONLY way I could get it to work, was bypassing the relay and error eliminators completely, and connecting the ballast straight to the factory OEM plug on both sides....no errors, no flickering, nothing....so I guess i'll just see how long it lasts? ha!

If I have it plugged that way, where do you ground it? Are you saying it has to sit inside the headlight housing?

My kit came with a cable to extend the OEM plug outside of the housing (with the AMP> D2S cable), where it is then plugged into the Cap and the Cap is grounded under the corner strength bar on the front clip on the passenger side. If you don't have the extension, I think the OEM cable itself is long enough to be brought outside the housing.

Well the kit fastheadlights sends is a mopar kit. I will try what wantosee has done and hopefully that takes care of my problem.

I received the mopar kit as well. TRS states that it is the same as GM.

You are correct, sir. Sierra with LED DRLs.

Glad you got it working. I had to change the male plug connector on my capacitor because it wasn't making a good connection with the oem plug even though it seemed to fit just fine. Took me a bit to figure out that was the problem as I didn't have a multimeter on hand to check voltage.

Question -- mine is currently hooked up with JUST the relay, and the HID kit itself. I'm going to put error eliminators/capacitors on the truck, but I need to know specifically which plugs to reverse polarity so i dont blow them up. The way it's set up right now, the plug from the FACTORY harness to the relay kit is flipped, AND the plug from the relay to the driver side ballast is flipped. With that being said, do I flip the capacitor on the drivers side when plugging into the factory harness, AND flip the capacitor on the passenger side from harness to ballast? or do I only need one capacitor?

Thank you!

I recently installed the Morimoto 35w kit on my 15 Sierra Denali. Both sides were working fine until yesterday. The driver's side will not fire now.

It's a PITA to get to the pass bulb, or I would have swapped them already. Plus it's cold out and I don't have room in the garage right now.

I did however swap ballasts. Didn't do any good.

I pulled the bulb, but it looks normal.

I then unplugged the bulb from the ignitor and turned the light switch on. A brief sparking/clicking noise could be heard, then stop. I then unplugged the ignitor from the ballast and turning the light switch back on. No noise. This tells me the ignitor is getting power.

Is there a way to use a multi meter on the bulb to check it?

If you have both side wired up factory plug ,cap , power harness, then ballest then flip the factory plug or do what I did on the plug of the hid pull the pins out and flip them so the connectors will click in still I have can bus ballest so no harness relay or caps just factory to.ballest and done

I believe those kits come with a test wire so you can plug the build into it and then just put it to battery for testing purposes I know the feeling I have a 15 Sierra also if you got small hands just take the air box cover off and you can get to the build

Is it grounded really good?

Forgive me as I'm sure this is covered somewhere in the 200 pages but my search didn't really find anything

Everything I'm reading seems to be just replacing current HID to better quality hid

I just got a 2015 silverado without HID and would like to buy a set of OEM hids to put in. Does anyone know of a page that explains that process or where I can even purchase oem hid headlights? I don't like the look of aftermarket ones looks to Chinese to me

Thanks for any help

I have a 2015 GMC Sierra and my friend is a 15 Silverado we both bought H IDs through DDM tuning call them and get the can bus system that's what I have and that's what he has and they work fine simply plug it into the factory harness and put the bulb in no relay harness no error cancelers needed they were about 110.00 I think
